@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I don’t think it matters really if you can’t find a name you like. Is there any family names or does DH go with it?
We have used a variation of my name for dd1 and dd2 we used my Mums name.

CaseofEllen · 15/03/2019 09:44

@ballanj congratulations!! ThanksοΏΌ

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I like meaningful middle names, I wouldn't give my DS one if it didn't have a meaning behind it. I know it probably won't be used much but it's special to me and DP and hopefully DS one day Smile

For those who aren't looking after DC during the days can I ask how you're passing the time? I am really struggling now! I'm so heavy and sore that going far is a real struggle but going out of my mind trying to find things to do at home!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 15/03/2019 09:53

The first name we're struggling with is Emilia. I like Belle as we went on our honeymoon to Belle OmbrΓ© in Mauritius. DH thinks it's a bit "pansy" and just raised his eyebrows.
He likes Charlotte which I also like but I don't think it goes with Emilia. Both our mums have the middle name Jane so that's an option but not sure that goes either.

Gronk27 · 15/03/2019 09:58

@assumeitwassomethingclever neither myself or my DB have middle names. The only time it’s ever occurred to me is the inevitable what’s your middle name chats and official forms. But my Dad actually goes by his middle name. I have now had my maiden name as my middle name after getting married last year. Luckily it’s a first name as well. I think we will give a middle name. One option is both of our Nan’s names for first and middle name. We like Emilia too, I think Emilia Belle sounds quite cool!

Hermagsjesty · 15/03/2019 10:16

@assumeitwassomethingclever our children all have family middle names - my DD has my grandma’s name and the boys have our brother’s names. I like both Emilia Belle and Emilia Jane (but I think Emilia’s so gorgeous it’d go with anything!)

Jenfur · 15/03/2019 10:25

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I like family names as middle names and think it's unusual these days for a child not to have a middle name but it's not something that would affect them at all. Neither of my parents have middle names and I remember finding that odd when I was little, I suppose because everyone else I knew had a middle name.

If it helps, I really like Emilia Belle and Emilia Jane, I think they both go but Belle sounds a bit more unusual (in a good way, in my opinion).

We've got a middle name for our first choice but struggling with one for our "back up" name as our first choice middle name doesn't work with it. We call DS by his first and middle name all the time but had no intention of doing that before he was born. He gets it when being naughty and also like a nickname (but longer, I don't know what the word is?)

BadBadBeans · 15/03/2019 12:46

Baby boy born yesterday afternoon! Weighing 8lbs 15oz - thank goodness I went for a planned section as I dread to think how huge he would have been if born at 42 weeks like DS1! We haven't got a name for him yet. He is a very contented little baby (at the moment). I'm struggling with walking but it is getting better as the hours wear on!

Wineandchoccy · 15/03/2019 13:50

Congratulations @BadBadBeans

CaseofEllen · 15/03/2019 13:58

Congratulations @BadBadBeans Thanks

HidCat · 15/03/2019 15:25

So all those Braxton Hicks finally came through! Melissa Rose was born yesterday morning (1 day early, just like her brother) at 6.37am after just over three hours of active labour weighing 7lb 3oz.

@SquirtlesMumAgain congratulations! Alice is beautiful, I hope you're recovering well.

@ballanj congratulations, Charlie looks so content, he's gorgeous.

@BadBadBeans Congratulations! Hope you're all doing well today.

@Angelmiracle I'm glad you have someone fighting your corner after your previous experience. Hopefully it will be more positive this time around.

@BadBadBeans congratulations! What a great weight, hope you're both doing well.

@HidCat congratulations again!

CaseofEllen · 15/03/2019 15:38

@HidCat congratulations!

fanks · 15/03/2019 16:37

Sorry I haven't been on for ages!

Lovely to see all the babies being born, massive congratulations everyone Smile

I've been so uncomfortable today my stomach is as hard as a ball, I've been to the toilet a few times but my anxiety is sky high! I've done this 4 times before why am I so anxious this time? I have struggled to function today because of it! I feel so scared and no idea why? Anyone else?

I will Be so relieved when it's over!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 15/03/2019 16:39

Congratulations @badbadbeans and @hidcat!

Hope the anxiety passes once things start going @fanks

Sictransitgloria · 15/03/2019 18:22

Congratulations @badbadbeans and @hidcat ❀️

Been up and down the GP today as my midwife text this morning to ask if I knew I had a UTI (10 days after urine was dipped and sent off for further testing). No, how would I know that?! Long story short (after the GP decided to erase all memory of ever speaking to me this morning) my urine was dipped again and is clear so no need for antibiotics thankfully πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Then I pulled a muscle in my side getting out of my car cos the spaces are so small and had BH and stabby pain for the duration of the shop and drive home. Honestly was a bit scared I was gonna go into labour down the frozen aisle πŸ˜‚ the most eventful day I’ve had in 2 weeks, I need to get out more πŸ™„

Nightmanagerfan · 15/03/2019 20:00

@badbadbeans @hidcat huge congratulations! I haven’t been on the thread for ages but so happy to see all the baby announcements. Lovely news. Hope you are all feeling well and recovering.

First day of mat leave today - woo hoo! Feels amazing not to have a million jobs in my head to do. I met some NCT mums for coffee, had a pedicure and came home for a nap and a steak dinner with DH - can hear the steaks sizzling now.

CaseofEllen · 15/03/2019 20:42

@fanks I'm a FTM but also feeling quite anxious. You do sound like you're having a difficult time though, hope you feel better soon!

@Sictransitgloria rubbish long day for you but at least you don't have a UTI! Last thing you want before labour!

@Nightmanagerfan Well done to you for working so far into pregnancy! Sounds like a well deserved day off today Smile

Brought some raspberry leaf tea today, had a cup earlier and had spicy food for tea! Might have another cup before bed but not getting my hopes up Sad

Sheeni · 15/03/2019 22:01

@hidcat @badbadbeans Congratulations to both of you! Hope your babies are well and behaving Smile

@Assumeitwassomethingclever Neither me nor DH have middle names (not common to have one in our home countries), but we really like the thought of a middle name for our little one. He hates the first name? Can use the middle name instead. There's someone with the same first name in his class/job/whatever? Again, can use the middle name. There were FIVE of us with the same name in my class (out of 15 girls), and it was crazy.
For what it's worth, I like Emilia Belle, and don't think it's "pansy" at all. Maybe it's the time to pull the "I'm pushing her out, so I'm choosing the middle name and you can suck it" card? Grin

Angelmiracle · 15/03/2019 22:16

Congratulations @BadBadBeans on your new baby boy what a good healthy weight! πŸ’™ Hope you recover quickly.

Congratulations @HidCat that's great your new baby girl arrived so swiftly after all your symptoms. Love her name πŸ’—

Congratulations to everyone who has just had a baby!!

@nightmanagerfan yesterday was also supposed to be my first day of not working too, with mat leave starting on my due date. Didn't get anywhere near that far though but your day sounds similar to what I'd envisaged for mine.

Yesterday was also the earliest due date for our NCT group but half of the babies have already been born. No one has got beyond 38+4 yet.

Sorry to hear it's all been a bit rubbish @scitransitgloria but take solace in the fact you didn't go into labour in the frozen aisle!!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 16/03/2019 03:24

For those of you on Maternity Allowance how long did it take for your first payment after you returned the form?

I have realised it was over a week since I sent the form back and no payment made - worried something has gone awry, but then it is the government so may just take a while!

Elizabeth134 · 16/03/2019 03:45

Congratulations everyone and good luck to all waiting.

Baby boy born yesterday am abdominally due to footling breech.

No name as yet! Working on that and walking.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 16/03/2019 04:36

Congratulations @elizabeth134. Good luck with the name and don't push yourself with the walking! It's bad enough post birth without the added surgery element!

HidCat · 16/03/2019 05:04

@Elizabeth134 congratulations! I hope you're recovering well from the surgery and that you are both heathy.

Angelmiracle · 16/03/2019 07:45

Congratulations @Elizabeth134 on your new baby boy. Hope you're enjoying the cuddles and don't rush into doing too much!πŸ’™
