@jenlou1992 Google the fourth trimester... How baby is behaving is entirely normal and to be expected after nine moebrhs tucked inside you. Basically baby still feels a part of your body, they won't realise they're a seperate entity for some time. It's utterly exhausting, is this your first? I'd highly recommend bed sharing. It was a game changer here as you can doze and feed, jsut keep your boobs out! Lots of safe sleeping recommendations online. Also a sling is really useful. Means your oh can sling baby and keep them close and sleepy while you grab a shower etc... It gets easier but it's a huge adjustment for you all. Don't put any pressure on baby to be put down, or on yourself to get back to any normalllity for quite a few weeks yet. But tmrest assured you will get there and your new normal will seem easier soon ❀️ I'd recommend chilling out in bed with lots of yummy food, loads of water for you and some good TV πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

@angelmiracle awwwwww beautiful! You'll be home before you know it, post natal wards aren't great are they but you'll be in your own bed soon.

fanks · 01/04/2019 17:58

Congratulations @Angelmiracle gorgeous hope your home soon.

Baby was born today via c section weighing 8lb7 a little boy 😍

Hope things speed up @Nightmanagerfan

@Jenlou1992 Totally normal, we bed share and it's a god send

Wineandchoccy · 01/04/2019 20:09

@fanks congratulations hope you are both ok x

MyMumDimensionJumps · 01/04/2019 21:12

Congratulations fanks, angelmiracle and Jenlou1992.

@Jenlou1992 It can be hard work when they need contact with you constantly, but it's totally normal and my first son was like this. I would second cosleeping as others have suggested. With my first son I found I was falling asleep on the sofa with baby which was more dangerous, so decided to just bed share instead. You might find this site useful and there are pictures showing the best positions for bed sharing: www.basisonline.org.uk. Have you tried a next to me crib?

cardboard33 · 02/04/2019 01:21

@mymumdimensionjumps we've got a next to me crib and it's only been this week (we've survived one month, woo!) that he's been vaguely happy in it for anything longer than two seconds. Just saying this for the benefit of everyone else so they don't go crazy if it doesn't work immediately!!

@nightmaremanagerfan you could maybe call the triage line and see what they suggest? It's likely they may just say continue at home if your waters haven't gone yet... When is your next midwife app? You could ask for advice then if nothing has progressed as you can't stay like this forever!!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 02/04/2019 05:22

Congratulations @jenlou1992 & @fanks

Just enjoy cuddles and don't worry about them not wanting to be put down!
A tip is to wait until they have a floppy arm then try putting them down. Before that they are often too awake

Sictransitgloria · 02/04/2019 06:41

Congratulations to @angelmiracle @fanks and @jenlou1992 - lovely news!

Good luck @nightmanagerfan hope baby is with you soon.

@jenlou1992 my boy was the same but he tolerated being put in the moses basket after a few days. In fact, we use the carrycot for the pram as well as the basket as he likes the motion. As hard as it is, in the long run all this close contact is really good for attachment and brain development (thats what I keep telling myself!)

Angelmiracle · 02/04/2019 07:06

Congratulations @jenlou1992 & @fanks on your new bundles 😊

Wineandchoccy · 03/04/2019 17:40

Are all the babies here now?

Tootyfrooty35 · 03/04/2019 19:05

@wineandchoccy mine certainly isn't πŸ˜‚ although by Friday at the latest he or she will be 😍 currently seems to be happy to have their head wedged in my pelvis πŸ˜£πŸ˜‚

Tootyfrooty35 · 03/04/2019 19:06

Must be a few of us waiting, I'm 41w tomorrow, and I've been to 42+ before so could've been next week but I decided induction was best for us all to stop me going insane or being unable to physically look after our other kids!

Wineandchoccy · 03/04/2019 19:32

Oh not long before you will be having newborn snuggles @Tootyfrooty35

Tootyfrooty35 · 03/04/2019 19:59

Verrrrry excited 😍 @wineandchoccy
Still time for them before Friday too, ahd a very good sweep today so 🀞🀞🀞 but haven't even packed a hospital bag yet πŸ˜²πŸ˜‚

Wineandchoccy · 03/04/2019 22:03

Get packing @Tootyfrooty35 Grin fingers crossed the sweep works for you

Tootyfrooty35 · 03/04/2019 22:08

Baby has until Friday morning for their chance be born at home, otherwise its eviction 🀣

cardboard33 · 04/04/2019 02:00

@wineandchoccy hopefully @nightmanagerfan will also report back good news at some point soon.

Hermagsjesty · 04/04/2019 07:32

Ah, good luck those of you still waiting. Not too long now!!

Nightmanagerfan · 04/04/2019 07:51

Sorry for not updating the thread! Our beautiful baby boy was born on Monday morning- 7lbs 10oz. No name yet.

After being in early labour for 48 hours I finally got to three contractions in ten mins by 1:30am v early Monday morning. Just before leaving for hospital I lost my mucus plug, and was 6cm when I arrived at hospital around 2am. 2 hours in triage waiting for an available midwife then we went straight to the MLU and I got in the pool. The relief was immense and the water helped - I was 10cm and ready to push at 7:30ish. At one point the midwife thought his heart rate has dropped so she pressed the emergency button and they moved me to labour ward. Then next bit is hazy, but his heart rate was fine and I gave birth to him on a bed on all fours - he arrived at 8:55am and I was pretty shellshocked! It was only then I realised I’d done it all on two paracetamol and gas and air! Madness but amazing and while it was the most intense mental and physical endurance of my life so far I am so happy - he’s beautiful and I’m very proud of myself! We are still in hospital as his feeding hasn’t been great and they keep checking him for jaundice. Talk of going home today but I’m getting so much support here that there’s no rush as far as I’m concerned! Thanks for all your support on the thread!

Wineandchoccy · 04/04/2019 08:07

Congratulations @Nightmanagerfan and well done you

Tootyfrooty35 · 04/04/2019 08:08

Congratulations @Nightmanagerfan pure euphoria ey ❀️
Glad you're getting lots of support, definitely stay until you're ready, it's soooo worth persevering.
I can't wait to report back very soon! This time tomorrow we'll be headed to hospital 😁

Nightmanagerfan · 04/04/2019 08:36

Thanks @wineandchoccy and good luck @tootyfrooty35 ! We’re so fortunate to be getting so much help - I know it’s an NHS postcode lottery but I honestly can’t fault any of our care. We’ve had Lactation consultants/feeding specialists on hand and lots of one to one time watching feeds etc. He feeds brilliantly at night then during the day is super sleepy and doesn’t wake up to eat. He had two formula top ups as they were worried but I wonder if he’s just nocturnal! My milk is coming in so hope he will be feeding soon and we can take him home.

cardboard33 · 04/04/2019 09:59

@nightmaremanagerfan congratulations!!! Your labour sounds very much like mine once you got established - v quick and an overnight job where you only think "what the hell have I done?" afterwards. So glad you're getting lots of support in hospital too, again we had a similar experience with bf support .... You're in London too? Maybe some of the hospitals here have got grants or something as there was unlimited 121 support for me.

cardboard33 · 04/04/2019 10:00

@tootyfruity35 good luck for tomorrow if nothing happens before then!!
