Whisky it should say on the packet that’s is a complete supplement for pregnancy Smile I’m just taking the cheap Tesco pregnancy support vitamins - ingredients are exactly the same as Pregnacare

Hsunshine · 30/01/2019 21:00

My boobs haven’t hurt at all and I’m secretly wondering if they are broken

MunchyMunchkin · 30/01/2019 21:00

@whiskey2014 you only need folic acid and vit d.
Some people prefer to take within a multivitamin.

Reminds me I must get some vitamin d (I’m slacking). Currently taking folic acid and a mini iron tablet.

Megan2018 · 30/01/2019 21:01

@Whisky2014
No, my widwife said Folic Acid/vit D all thats needed, anything else is waste of money if diet good.
I have seven seas pregnancy vitamins-they are all basically creating expensive wee though tbh!

MunchyMunchkin · 30/01/2019 21:01

@Hsunshine - mine didn’t hurt at all in first pregnancy.
This time they seem to have remembered and grown a cup and band size already.

Hsunshine · 30/01/2019 21:04

@munchymunchkin oooo that’s good to know.

I take pregnecare but my diet isn’t good because I don’t think carbs and choc have any vitamins?

Whisky2014 · 30/01/2019 21:04

Ah cross post. Thanks!

I mentioned to my mum about folic acid and she had no clue about it!! Was it not a thing 30 years ago?

MunchyMunchkin · 30/01/2019 21:11

Yep only need folic acid to 12 weeks then can just carry on vitamin d.

Folic acid is to prevent spina bifida and that’s all formed by 12 weeks.

@Hsunshine most bread is fortified so don’t worry 😂

Whisky2014 · 30/01/2019 21:12

Maybe I should switch to that one. Oh i also just remembered at my booking in appointment the midwife gave me a bottle of vitamins/folic acid to take. So i expect that will be sufficient. Pretty good she said they have loads and if i run out to ask for more, got them for free. Not sure if that's just a Scottish thing?

stroan · 30/01/2019 21:24

@whisky2014 I’m in Scotland too!

I was only taking pregnacare as my diet is horrific. Zero nutritional value in crisps and jelly sweets.

People who are sick/nauseous - do you get any relief from it? I don’t know if I’m overreacting but I genuinely don’t get a minute of relief each day. Is that normal? It even wakes me up. I’m on the third type of medication and nothing has made even a tiny bit of difference yet

Hsunshine · 30/01/2019 21:26

@stroan honestly chocolate makes me feel better and junk food. Some foods I’ve realised now make me sick 20 mins later.
I have read though of people who find pregnecare makes their morning sickness a lot worse. Maybe you should try something different to see if it helps?

MunchyMunchkin · 30/01/2019 21:28

@stroan have you tried something for reflux? Often that’s a contributor so getting rid of thar can help massively.

Easterbuns1 · 30/01/2019 21:31

I'm also in Scotland. I'm taking the seven seas one but will get more folic acid and vit d tablets from the mw tomorrow so will probably just start on them once mine are finished.

stroan · 30/01/2019 21:32

@hsunshine I’m off pregnacare now, can’t take it with the latest medication. But there were days I forgot it and it made no difference either.

@munchymunchkin do you mean taking something even though I don’t have reflux? I’m not actually sick, just nauseous. I dream of being sick in the hope it would go away for even a minute. Sorry, that is so
Insensitive to anyone who is being sick

Whisky2014 · 30/01/2019 21:33

High five Stroan! I'm North East :)

I crave junk especially pepperoni pizza but my husband has restricted me to 1 a week(probably a good thing!).
But i've had to make a conscious effort to be good so last few days I've had strawberries, banana and grapes with Greek yoghurt for brekkie and incorporating lots of fruit and veg through the day. Just had a nice juicy orange Halo
I've still had no sickness but most evenings I do feel a bit sick. And after everything I eat I do 2 hiccups!

stroan · 30/01/2019 21:39

@whisky2014 my stomach is churning just reading that list! I’m so jealous, I don’t think a vegetable has passed my lips in three weeks. Even the thought of most foods makes me feel like I can’t swallow.

I’m near Glasgow.

MunchyMunchkin · 30/01/2019 21:40

@stroan yep as sometimes the nausea is actually reflux even if you don’t have traditional symptoms.
Can buy ranitidine over the counter to try. Safe in pregnancy and worth a punt to improve the misery.

stroan · 30/01/2019 21:41

@munchymunchkin thanks! I’ll try anything.

Whisky2014 · 30/01/2019 21:42

Oh dear, what a shame. Hope it doesnt last too much longer

Easterbuns1 · 30/01/2019 21:45

@Whisky2014 will you be giving birth at AMH? I'm north east too.

hodgeheg92 · 30/01/2019 21:47

@MyBreadIsEggy That's the one I took last time cos it's so much cheaper! Will have to have another look if/when I need more.

Thanks for the reassurances re not hearing from midwife yet. I'd just rather not have something last minute cos I'd like it outside my working hours.

Sounds like it is a Scottish thing @whisky2014

meepmoop · 30/01/2019 21:47

Hi everyone, please can I join in. I'm 6 + 5 weeks and this is my second. DS is 18months.

Is there any reason I can't take the pregnancy tablets before bed so I can sleep off feeling sick. I was a bit rubbish the first time round and didn't take them often so want to be in top of it this time but I really dislike them.

Whisky2014 · 30/01/2019 21:51

Is that Aberdeen? No, I'll be at Arbroath hospital which I've heard is a good facility. I actually thought I'd be in Ninewells but apparently not! Midwife asked me about homebirth and I said as i live out in the sticks it would probably be safer just to be in hospital and she just waved her hand and said "ach we deliver up in the glens"!
So im not sure. I might have medical issue with my uterus so will wait to see if that's confirmed first before I make a decision.
