Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

And good luck giraffe888

Capybaras · 07/02/2019 11:22

Glad it's not pneumonia @Kentishgal that's really shitty news about your midwife/reassurance scan. Could you try phoning again to insist you need one due to being ill/worry about medications etc? Hopefully if you stress how worried you are they may do it for you, rather than having to pay!

Great news @ReginaPhalange89 little boy stuff is so cute! Fingers crossed the results come back normal for you, and quickly!

Good luck for your scan @Giraffe888 it's exciting that people are starting to find out now!

wombatron · 07/02/2019 12:08

@Kentishgal I'd be on the phone to the maternity unit demanding a scan and a new midwife. Don't take this woman's bullshit anymore. If they don't move on it, keep pushing to see her line manager and make them change. She sounds vile and I'm enraged on your behalf!

HchyScott · 07/02/2019 12:21

Oh my gosh @Kentishgal you poor thing! And I totally agree what @wombatron said it’s appalling the way that midwife has treated you when you are seriously ill and have been for a while she cannot be so dismissive. Give it to them both barrels!

Kentishgal · 07/02/2019 12:22

Thank you both - I spoke to the other midwife - she was far nicer but still said the same in so far as she doesn't think there's any point as baby will be fine (I hope that's correct) and they would be unlikely to fit me in before my 20wk scan. I'll phone the actual ante natal clinic at the hospital on Monday when I'll hopefully be feeling better and see if they can scan. Urgh. Ok moan over I promise.

BeckyButterfly · 07/02/2019 12:25

@Kentishgal I totally agree with wombatron, you definitely need to push the issue. I would ring the maternity unit and tell them how concerned you are and how I’ll you’ve been.

wombatron · 07/02/2019 12:39

I understand they can't bend to every pregnant woman's paranoia, but when you've been as poorly as you have been there's a way in which they can suggest the 20 week scan would be fine to wait until. She sounds like a twunt. Id still complain!

Kentishgal · 07/02/2019 12:46

Thank you wombarton - I've left a message for ante nata clinic to call me. Hoping they can help. I might just switch to the other midwife. Maybe she'll be more sympathetic to pgp too! My midwives are in a small town - there are only two. Shame as there used to be a really good one there. Never heard twunt before - brilliant - made me chuckle for the first time in ages. I'll be sure to use that now!

ReginaPhalange89 · 07/02/2019 13:20

That's terrible @kentishgal, I'd speak to someone else and say your GP recommended contacting them for a scan.

I've been so lucky so far that I've not come across any horrible midwives, I'd definitely complain

FuzzyPixel · 07/02/2019 17:08

Lovely sex reveal news for @BeckyButterfly and @ReginaPhalange89. Many congratulations to you both. We're team yellow at the minute, but hearing other people find out is making me keen to know.

@Giraffe888, I hope your scan went well too!

@Kentishgal hope you manage to get a resolution soon. The midwife you spoke to sounds like a right pain.

I am 16+6 now and had my 16 week appointment today. It was a group session, which was interesting. They covered; body and baby development throughout pregnancy (including some of the common pregnancy ailments), diet in pregnancy, mental health, naming restrictions and parental responsibility. They also took blood pressure (mine was the lowest it has been since the start of the pregnancy) and another urine sample...

We have a tour of the hospital soon which I'm looking forward to, they do them weekly here and you can just join a tour whichever week you want too.

How's everyone feeling in relation to baby preparations? My 25 week appointment was booked today, and it made me realise how quick the appointments are coming around and how much I have left to do.

BirthdayKake · 07/02/2019 17:30

@FuzzyPixel I had my 16 week appointment yesterday too so I probably would have met you but I declined the group session! That would have been my idea of hell. It does sound quite interesting though! What time/day are the hospital tours please? Xx

FuzzyPixel · 07/02/2019 17:36

@BirthdayKake I think they do the group sessions in each of the different family hubs, so I think it depends on if we're at the same hub? Such a small world though, and it seems it especially in this part of the country. 😂

Every Sunday, arrive at the reception of the maternity was at 13:50pm, I think. Might be worth double checking with your midwife just in case I've got it wrong. They said you could go to any and go more than once. If they're not used they'll show you the birthing pool room and the natural pool room. They show you all four teams wards too, so you are familiarised in case yours is full. Smile

FuzzyPixel · 07/02/2019 17:37

Not natural pool room, I meant natural birthing room. Smile

BirthdayKake · 07/02/2019 18:02

Thanks @FuzzyPixel. Are you at the one beginning with I? If so, I REALLY hope you weren't the lady that my 2 year old pointed at and said "Mummy, what about HE plays with me?!" Blush if it's any consolation, she calls everyone "him" and "he"!

Thanks for the info :) I'm desperate for a home birth but definitely want to take the tour as well just in case.

FuzzyPixel · 07/02/2019 18:10

@BirthdayKake, no I'm really close to the hospital... (maybe a five minute walk to get onto the site) so I'm at the one beginning with S. That's brilliant though, I'm looking forward to all of those awkward moments with a little one. Grin

I was on the bus recently and overheard a little girl asking about a pub, and her Mum was politely explaining that she'd have to be 18 to go into one...
Mum: Well, you can't go into that one until you're a bit older.
Little Girl: How old?
Mum: 18, and you're only five so you have a little while to wait.
Little Girl: Oh mummy, we won't be able to go to one together then.
Mum: Why not?
Little Girl: You'll be dead when I'm 18, you're so old.
Mum (who looks under 30): Well, er, I hope not, I don't think I'm that old...

Lots of people sat around were having a little laugh.

I'd have liked a home birth, but I have dogs and I don't want them to be anxious, and unfortunately, we have a neonatal alert due to a genetic condition on my paternal side that I haven't been tested for - so I'm not sure they'd agree with us having one although I haven't really discussed it.

Giraffe888 · 07/02/2019 18:40

Our scan went well and we’re joining team BLUE! x

BirthdayKake · 07/02/2019 18:48

@FuzzyPixel oh bless her 😂 I get so embarrassed sometimes! I don't think they'll "agree" to me having a home birth either as my previous babies were so small but I will be putting my foot down and doing it if I can. But I'm a twat like that!

Congratulations Giraffe! Here come the boys lol

ReginaPhalange89 · 07/02/2019 19:09

Aw congrats @Giraffe888! How do you feel ?

wombatron · 07/02/2019 19:49

Ooooh congrats to all those finding out their teams today. We are still firmly team yellow (on my insistence), and I've overheard DH say to so many people how I'll change my mind at some point I'm not determined not to. The nub theory is enough for me at the moment - am still thinking team pink!

TwinkleDay · 07/02/2019 21:33

@wombatron yes team yellow here too. I think fred is a girl.. though OH keeps homing in on little boys things ... :/

wombatron · 07/02/2019 21:44

@TwinkleDay do you think you'll last the whole time without finding out?

TwinkleDay · 07/02/2019 21:50

@wombatron yes I'm set in my ways though both intreeged... it will be the only thing getting me through child birth a surprise , what about you x

blueeyedviking · 07/02/2019 22:08

@kentishgal hope you feel better soon and that the meds kick in. Definitely give your midwife a telling, if the GP says you should get a scan then do!

@StargazyDrifter Thank you. I spoke to HR today and they are being supportive. Spoke to my manager as well who backtracked but I refused to let it go. It's recorded now and I'll continue to fight it if needed, but seems to be solved.

@giraffe888 & @reginaphalange89 - congrats with the boys! How exciting.

I'm seeing the consultant tomorrow. Not sure what to expect but my midwife said she wasnt worried so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Giraffe888 · 07/02/2019 22:26

Thank you all!

@reginaphalange89 we were a little shocked as everyone thought we were having a girl! We’re very pleased though x

BirthdayKake · 08/02/2019 06:16

Ahh hope you feel better soon Kentish XX

More weird dreams... I had the baby four weeks early, completely unassisted in a hotel. Then DH put this tattoo across her chest that said something like "You are so loved and always will be". It looked
