Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

I've not been using anything but my normal body moisturiser on the bump so far, mostly out of laziness. Have been given some rather lovely Neals Yard new mummy pack and looking forward to a bit of pampering with that. As someone else has said, just stroking the bump is lovely for bonding. The science seems to suggest that no cream will help with stretch marks and that that are genetic. Won't stop me trying though!

I think I felt the baby move on Saturday at 18 weeks, at a music concert.

Been finding it really, really hard walking up 4 flights of stairs at work (lift broken) and it also eventually gives me cramps and stitches to walk my usual 45 mins home. ☹️ So I guess I will have to start slowing down. Seems a bit soon!

An over-enthusiastic dog jumped up at me today and prodded my belly quite hard - I'm guessing that's ok baby-wise, right?

Giraffe888 · 05/02/2019 21:14

I was stroking my tummy tonight and one side feels a lot harder than the other just in a small area. What would that be? Sorry I probably sound thick!

TwinkleDay · 05/02/2019 21:23

@Giraffe888 probs that baby we have been talking about for the past 4 months hahaha x

wombatron · 05/02/2019 21:27

@TwinkleDay 😂😂😂 that one wins the thread

BeckyButterfly · 05/02/2019 21:36

@StargazyDrifter when I went for my 13 week scan the midwife really had to dig into my tummy in places to try to get the nucchal measurement and when she was doing it she said that the baby is very well protected in there so I wouldn’t worry about the dog jumping up at you 😊

Giraffe888 · 05/02/2019 21:46

@twinkleday I asked for that didn’t I 😂

I thought it was baby but it was hard in the exact same spot last night. I’m sure baby doesn’t stay in the same position all the time x

RooKangaroo · 05/02/2019 22:00

@TwinkleDay 😂

@Giraffe888, bit of uterus muscle? If you're worried, ask at your next midwife appt. Peace of mind is invaluable.

@StargazyDrifter I have 4 paws in this house. Not a single one gives a single shit where it walks or prods - whether it's my lower abdomen or not. I do try and stop it but I wouldn't worry at all. I opened a drawer on mine the other day, felt a bit bad for a while Grinit's bigger than muscle memory remembers!

StargazyDrifter · 05/02/2019 22:16

TwinkleDay 😂😂😂

BeckyButterfly and wombatron thank you! 😊

Giraffe could it be the back? The baby could still be moving around but the overall position for now could be that the back is facing outwards? Or could it be a bum?

Jxtina86 · 05/02/2019 22:58

@Giraffe888 I got an email from one of the pregnancy apps saying that at 18wks, you can normally feel the uterus about an inch and half down from your belly button. I can definitely feel a difference now between the two. Not sure how many weeks you are but could be that? The middle of my bump feels softer than the sides too - a friend said hers was always like that, must be where the abdominals are stretching out?!

Giraffe888 · 06/02/2019 07:57

From what I’ve read online I think it’s more likely the uterus than baby x

BirthdayKake · 06/02/2019 08:12

Giraffe that'll be your uterus love from a seasoned mum of four 😂

16 week appointment today (at 17 weeks). I'll be telling them that unless they can show me evidence that my baby is severely compromised, I WILL be having a home birth... But I'm shite at confrontation so wish me luck! Haha

blueeyedviking · 06/02/2019 08:16

Morning

Haven't been on much again as work is insane, and yesterday it got topped up with my manager telling me I have to book holiday for pre natal appointments as I'm OOO a lot (Nothing more than a normal pregnant lady). I was so shocked I just did it, but obvs I know it's wrong and illegal. My DH is a solicitor so he is fuming... So today I need to speak to HR and my line manager again. My line manager said some pretty insensitive things, and considering I'm working every evening and weekend at the moment (got a big launch in 10 days) its pretty shocking..

Worst thing is that this came from a last minute hospital appointment as midwife has referred me to a consultant. No idea why as my tests have been good. So panicking about that too, and got no understanding from the line manager about this.

@ReginaPhalange89 Thinking of you. As others has said, if you need to talk then you are always welcome to here.

Giraffe888 · 06/02/2019 08:16

@birthdaykake I thought so!!!

16wk midwife appointment for me today too. Good luck! X

BirthdayKake · 06/02/2019 08:21

blue hope things go ok with the consultant and good to see you back :)

Giraffe aww thanks, good luck for yours too! Not that I think you need it or anything lol

TwinkleDay · 06/02/2019 08:37

Morning all, I'm sure my baby prefers the right of me to the left, though they are forever growing so whatever space is there I'm sure they will be finding.

Goes back to that panel meeting at work I had a couple of weeks ago.. baby was either full on standing up over the left or hand stand and I had to jump up and down to get them to move across.

Hoping for a bargain day today, venturing to Rotherham, Crystal peaks and somewhere else to visit 3 mothercares closing down... anyone been to any of these and know what percentage of discount we are on now? At Xmas it was 10% wow ... not.

Things you do when you have been told to have a week off because your pregnant ... x

AIDE2424 · 06/02/2019 09:18

@twinkleday I’m sure the Rotherham Parkgate one is already closed, I live 5 minutes away from it, but near by there is a shop called affordable baby care which is nice.

The Doncaster one on York road is still open and they had some nice savings however check them against amazon as I nearly bought a Tomme tippe set and it was £20 cheaper on amazon xx

TwinkleDay · 06/02/2019 09:26

@AIDE2424 thank you x Doncaster still open then? What about crystal peaks do you know?

AIDE2424 · 06/02/2019 10:41

@twinkleday Doncaster one still open I was there last week it’s not due to close till March I think, not sure about crystal peaks xx

Yukka · 06/02/2019 12:55

Hi all,

Just back from my obstetrician appointment, and wow, my whole pregnancy has been mapped out!.

Because of the clotting disorder (APS) I'll have 4 weekly scans starting at 20 weeks, and they'll also check blood flow through the placenta to monitor risk or pre-eclampsia and growth restriction. At 20 weeks and 28 weeks they'll reassess whether I should go back on the heparin at any point in case Aspirin on its own isn't enough. They'll also check 6 weeks post-natal incase I need longer term management of the APS.

Deff induce on my due date and deff labour ward birth.

Can't tell you how relieved I feel to have a plan. I don't think I realised how much is was on my mind. And the registrar and consultant were women, dare I say it I think it makes a difference, they really talked to me. The last chap got the bloody guidance booklet out during my appointment . . .This consultant was like 'bosh bosh bosh, this how we manage this and get baby here safely'. She asked if I'd like to transfer to her care. YES PLEASE!

Thinking of you tonight @ReginaPhalange, hope they'll be able to advise how long the wait is for results x

blueeyedviking · 06/02/2019 13:42

Thanks @birthdaykake Smile

@yukka Wow that sounds like a lot to take in. Glad you got a plan and someone who clearly knows what they are doing. You must be so relieved!

SnailorSwift · 06/02/2019 13:54

@yukka that's reassuring! I'm sure you are so glad! I wondered when you mentioned before if it was APS but didn't want to ask!

I'm in same boat but am currently on heparin and aspirin.

Really looking forward to my 20 week appointment as hoping it will put my mind at rest too.

I had a traumatic experience when DS1 was born due to poor management so really need to ensure with this one things are managed better for my own peace of mind as well as physical health.

Yukka · 06/02/2019 14:46

Thanks Blueeyedviking Yes very relieved!

@SnailorSwift yes its APS, the other consultant took me off Hepartin at 14 weeks ( now 15.5) and I was really worried how would they know the placenta etc was functioning ok. This blood flow check is exactly what will give that reassurance as we go. Relieved. Have you got a similar pathway? You might be slightly higher high risk given history.

SnailorSwift · 06/02/2019 15:20

Possibly @Yukka I had a DVT in last pregnancy and preeclampsia obviously both complications of APS. So I'm on a prophylactic dose of heparin to manage the clotting risk and the aspirin more so to reduce the preeclampsia risk.

Was supposed to have a planned delivery with DS but he came of his own accord which wasn't ideal with the high heparin dose that I was on and I had bad PPH. Hoping to get a clear picture at my next appointment as to what the plan is for this one as want to avoid any similar outcome.
I've a joint appointment with the consultant and the haematologist in 2 weeks so should get a clearer plan re delivery then.

Sounds like your consultant is well switched on. Did you have a diagnosis of APS previous to this pregnancy?
