Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

Thank you @Kentishgal

Yukka · 01/02/2019 22:22

@regina I’m pretty sure the dna test is 99% accurate but no one will state 100% anyway. Where I am they call it the harmony test x

StargazyDrifter · 01/02/2019 22:36

ReginaPhalange89 so very sorry to read your news. Big hugs. As others have said, it's a big shock and the NIPT is worth the money in my opinion. The tests are not diagnostic, but are more accurate than just high/low risk. Depending on whether you go for Harmony or Panorama test, the accuracy is a little different. There's a table online setting out the (marginal) differences. We went for Panorama. But they are both good. There is also a charity called ARC that's really worth looking at - they have good info published on NIPTs and, I think, also offer advice case by case.

Trying2bemum hugs to you too. I'm sure the baby didn't feel much of an impact from the argument. From what I've read, it's got to be severe and consistent stress (like war etc) before there is any proven impact. Still, not nice for you. Hope the weekend is easier.xx

For the first time since November, I had a pretty normal day at work- no tiredness, no frequent weeing, no nausea. It was nice but, of course, I'm now wondering if something has gone wrong maybe. Wondering about another reassurance scan as the 20w one is still 2 weeks away. 🙄

No thinking on prams and stuff yet, but we have a John Lewis nursery appt later this month and then going to the Baby Show the weekend after. Then I think we'll be ready. Maybe.

Kentishgal · 01/02/2019 22:47

Oh God I didn't know anything about the panorama test and, having googled it, that does look better! I think harmony was the only one offered locally though. I think accuracy depends on the percentage of fetal dna - but I am sure I read that it's higher the further along you are - if it's below 6% I think they retest. Mine was 22% but comparatively I'm not sure what constitutes a high figure. But seeing as you're further along, you would hope you'd be fine from that perspective.

StargazyDrifter · 01/02/2019 23:00

Kentishgal I think the Panorama is marginally better for some stuff, but it also takes a bit longer - 2 weeks in my case - as they send the blood to the US. Harmony is tested in the UK, I think. I too got the impression that, after 12 weeks, there is plenty of DNA and failure rate is minimal. Again, ARC have a good guide to all this Regina.

Kentishgal did you ever make it to the GP again? Has the bronchitis turned into something worse? Hope not!

Kentishgal · 01/02/2019 23:20

I did - they said the infection is still there and they want a phlegm sample(!) So I need to do that as I just haven't mustered the will to do it yet. They basically said amoxicillin is safe in pregnancy but other antibiotics can be riskier but they don't really want to give a second dose of amoxicillin so want to check what they're treating before they treat it. However, I'm hoping I can just sit it out and get better - normally I wouldn't rush off to the doctors! But worried though - I coughed a lot today and am now hurting on my left hand side exactly where I broke a rib from coughing about 7 yrs ago! Fingers crossed it's just a strain. Let's all hope for some nice weather soon so we can say goodbye to these winter viruses! How's everyone else getting on with their colds??

StargazyDrifter · 01/02/2019 23:34

Of course, I'd forgotten about the sample! Try not to touch the inside of your sample vessel, so you don't accidentally get random other germs in. It's the sort of thing I'd do! Hope it clears quickly, what an unnecessary extra worry. Could it be your Psoas muscle, rather than the rib? I hurt that once, from stress after the ectopic/work, and it hurt a lot. Can happen if you're tense a lot.

My cold has cleared away, just the odd sniffle. Warmer weather can't come soon enough!

BeckyButterfly · 02/02/2019 00:01

I think I’m getting another UTI 😩 I have that feeling when I pee again. I only just finished my antibiotics on Monday! I’m going to try to drink loads tomorrow and maybe get some cranberry juice to drink. See if I can flush it out without antibiotics. So annoying!

SnailorSwift · 02/02/2019 02:59

@Giraffe888 really unlikely before 20 weeks so don't panic!

Mine started at 19 weeks with DS and my BP is slightly raised and showing a trace of protein in urine at 17 weeks this time so I'm having BP monitored regularly atm. I have a blood clotting disorder though which has been linked to earlier onset of preeclampsia.

As I said highly unlikely but just as it's one of the things I've been told to watch for its best to keep midwife in the loop so they can rule it out for you!

SnailorSwift · 02/02/2019 03:03

@BeckyButterfly can sympathise I am just at the beginning of one too 😩 had a urine sample sent away today so they can get the right antibiotics. Fingers crossed you shift yours ASAP too x

ReginaPhalange89 · 02/02/2019 07:21

Barely slept at all last night, the one night in weeks my toddler has slept well 🙈

My eye lids are so puffy it's unreal

Kentishgal · 02/02/2019 07:34

stargazydrifter I suspect it's just muscular because it doesn't feel the same as when I broke it before. I ought to listen to my grumpy midwife and just stop coughing! 😂 reginaphalange I can imagine you were having difficulty sleeping, poor you. Hopefully you can get some reassurance soon.

TwinkleDay · 02/02/2019 08:38

Morning all bless you @ReginaPhalange89 like others have said get yourself checked out with one of these harmony things and lovely for someone to offer to pay for you. It's got to be worrying but that should help. We have all been blessed with the chance to give new life. Sending a hug your way xx

Just playing catch up we have a flip xt2 travel system on order within the massive sale at mamas and papas which has just ended.

Cold wise I'm still cough snotty but sound better in myself... it's lots harder trying to shift it on your own with just honey lemon ginger and turmeric tea bags.

What a crappy week... the whole potential redundancy thing is still in process to be finalised by 8th March but we all have to apply for our job- if still available - or the next best thing again... oh well in on Monday and off next week.. try and shift some more clutter and get fred\rickas room cleared some more xx

AIDE2424 · 02/02/2019 09:52

@ReginaPhalange89 so sorry to hear, hope you get some reassurance soon!

On the travel system front I’m between the ickle bubba stop V4 or the oyster 3 I’ve been and seen both a few times and still can’t decide between them I managed to narrow it down to these two, I prefer the look of the ickle bubba but the oyster 3 just seems and little more well made and the deals they have at the moment are brill. Also picked my nursery furniture, the Oh baby Stamford collection xxx

cravingmilkshake · 02/02/2019 09:53

@ReginaPhalange89 please keep us updated today x

BirthdayKake · 02/02/2019 10:02

Hope you're ok Regina and manage to catch up on some sleep today x

BeckyButterfly · 02/02/2019 11:24

@AIDE2424 I’ve been looking at the Ickle Bubba V4 as well. I haven’t been to see it yet though but I really like it from what I’ve seen online.

ReginaPhalange89 · 02/02/2019 12:05

@AIDE2424 I have an oyster 2 for my toddler, I still love it 2 years on . We're hoping to get the double version for this baby coming

AIDE2424 · 02/02/2019 12:38

@BeckyButterfly I like the khaki and bronze one, it’s reslly nice and it fold lovely, there’s only one place in South Yorkshire that stocks so it was hard for me to find one to look at, my only thing is the seat unit looks really small and the carry cot sips off the frame for the seat unti to zip on, and on the oyster the seat unit grows with the baby so I’m still unsure 😂

@ReginaPhalange89 I’ve heard so many good things about them, we just can’t decide yet xxx

BeckyButterfly · 02/02/2019 12:42

@AIDE2424 I like the black and bronze one. It is such a hard decision! I was looking at the Oyster and it looks nice. But I think I need to do some more research. I still need to go and actually try some out. The Ickle Bubba isn’t in many shops. I think my nearest is about 40 mins away but there are other shops around there that I can look at for prams so I’ll just take a little day trip sometime.

BeckyButterfly · 02/02/2019 12:44

@AIDE2424 Are you thinking of getting the full travel system or just the pram itself?

AIDE2424 · 02/02/2019 14:23

@BeckyButterfly full travel system I think I’ve been to a few shops for a play but still can’t decide so going to just wait it out till I’m 100% sure xx

ReginaPhalange89 · 02/02/2019 14:56

Hi all, just to update after the hospital.

Tbh they didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know, it was more just a chat to see what I wanted to do. I've said no to the amnio test , I don't like the risk of miscarriage even if it's tiny. We're going with the Harmony test , We've just to go ahead and arrange it ourselves then let them know the results. We can get an appt as early as Wednesday evening so as long as I can get someone to stay with the kids we'll go for that.

Once I've got the results, if it's high risk they'd then arrange an amnio to confirm. My 20 week scan will be with a consultant rather than a usual sonographer, I can't remember if she said it still will be either way or if it's just if it comes back positive .

It's going to be a long wait to find out 😭 she thinks it takes 7-10 days usually for Harmony results

I don't really know how I feel. I'm trying to stay optimistic because it's like a 97% chance it's going to be fine. But I can't get excited now at all. I usually wander down the baby aisle of the supermarkets but couldn't bring myself to look this morning .

On the upside, our Gender scan was supposed to be a week on Wednesday so we'll cancel that and can hopefully find out at the scan this week.

BirthdayKake · 02/02/2019 15:25

Thanks for the update Regina. I agree that does seem like a long wait! Not the same I know but my last baby was supposed to have health problems and she was/is absolutely fine. There is definitely hope! And like you say, with the Harmony you'll know the sex of the baby for sure :) hope time goes quickly for you xx

LetItSnowAllTheTime · 02/02/2019 15:35

@ReginaPhalange89 I had the IONA test, my NHS trust offer this at a discounted rate. Here's a good link that gives you the difference between the 2 tests.

It seems silly because my results were 1 in 1800. But we have a family history of 2 babies (one from my side, one from my OH side) we wanted the extra test.

My results came back as 1 in 50,000

Sorry your going through this x
