Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

Not sure if you all will remember about my NT test and how they lost my blood. I had the Quad teat done instead on Monday .

I've just had a phone call to say my results have come back high risk of Downs, 1 in 34 chance ! I'm crying my eyes out now

BeckyButterfly · 01/02/2019 16:51

Ahh @ReginaPhalange89 that is not the news you were wanting. Have they said what they do next?
Remember that a huge number of babies are born who were put at high risk and aren’t effected.
Is it just Downs they tested for in the end?

ReginaPhalange89 · 01/02/2019 16:59

Yeah just downs we test for in Scotland
I've to go along to speak to them at the EPU tomorrow about options etc. I can have the amniocentesis or I'm guessing the NIPT but it's £400. Probably will just do that though, I don't like the risk of miscarriage with the amniocentesis

BirthdayKake · 01/02/2019 17:02

Oh Regina sorry to hear that :( it doesn't always mean bad news. What are you wanting to do next? Xx

BeckyButterfly · 01/02/2019 17:08

Wow, I didn’t know you had to pay for it. I assumed if you were deemed high risk it would be free.
Keep us updated with how things go. Try not to get too disheartened, nothing is for certain yet. I know that is so much easier said than done, I’d be feeling the same way you are.

SnailorSwift · 01/02/2019 17:21

@BeckyButterfly yes definitely the best plan! My DH is almost a foot taller than me so one thing we had to have was an adjustable handle - but you only really start thinking about these things when you see them!

@ReginaPhalange89 sorry to hear that news. Let us know how tomorrow goes 💕

Yukka · 01/02/2019 17:23

@regina sorry to hear that. One if my sis was high risk, went for amniocentesis and it altered to low risk and she was fine. But I personally would pay for private test as my history of mc is too high. It’s £400 down here too but I believe they also do a wellness scan with it.

Let’s us know if you book in most places can do it quite quick and results in 7 days xxx

@becky you don’t pay for amniocentesis tests but it has 1% risk of miscarriage. There’s a new dna test now from mind blood that’s non invasive but only available private.

Yukka · 01/02/2019 17:25

Sorry mums blood not mind blood... damn phone x

Squ1ggle · 01/02/2019 17:25

Oh Regina I'm so sorry

Squ1ggle · 01/02/2019 17:31

Re photos, have a look at an app called lifecake. It's owned by canon and it's a private timeline, you upload photos/videos or little notes about them and it tells you the age of the child and puts them all in order. You can then share it with friends and family and they can choose to get notifications when you upload new content.
It's free up until a certain capacity and then you can pay an annual fee, it's not the cheapest but we've found it really good. You can also order photobooks, phone covers, magnets etc. (*disclaimer I don't work for them I promise)

Squ1ggle · 01/02/2019 17:36

Prams - we love our uppababy vista. We bought it in 2014 so it is an older model. It's not a lightweight pram and it's quite wide at the rear wheels but it's brilliant and if you're tall it's perfect. I particularly like the ride height, all other prams seemed so low to the ground in comparison. The tyres are pretty sturdy too so cope with different terrain. We've had it in storage for a while can't wait to get it out again. It was well used with ds but still looks like new

Kentishgal · 01/02/2019 17:55

reginaphalange I'm so sorry to hear that - obviously there is a 33/34 chance that your baby won't have downs but I know that I would still be wreck too - its only natural. stargazydrifter drifter and I both had the dna test with similar odds (mine was 1 in 710 - which I appreciate is absolutely nowhere near what you're feeling) but it decreased the risk to less than 1 in 10,000 and the results are so accurate. It's £500 but the peace of mind is definitely worth it. And it was v quick, I had the scan on Wednesday evening and had the results back by lunchtime the following Wednesday. Pls keep us updated.

Kentishgal · 01/02/2019 17:56

Sorry stargazydrifter you got an extra "drifter" in that post!

BeckyButterfly · 01/02/2019 18:18

@Yukka thanks for the clarification! I knew the normal test had a risk of miscarriage and hadn’t heard of the other test.

Trying2bemum · 01/02/2019 18:20

Sorry to hear that others worry too. I'm such a worry pot, think am going to need a scan before 20 weeks for reassurance. I've had a few big rows with DH and really lost it with him, and then felt so guilty about the stress levels in my body 😣

Trying2bemum · 01/02/2019 18:28

Regina I'm sorry to hear that, fingers tightly crossed the next tests come back lower risk x x x

SnailorSwift · 01/02/2019 18:37

@Squ1ggle my pram was the Uppababy vista too 😍 loved it and can't wait to use it again!

Giraffe888 · 01/02/2019 19:56

@reginaphalange89 I’m so sorry x I too would be devastated and I can’t imagine how you’re feeling. You’ve had 2 perfectly fine DC though so fingers crossed xxx

I’ve had horrible sharp pains just below my bra line on and off during the last few days. I’m guessing it’s just my insides stretching?

We’ve put a deposit down on the Mamas & Papas Ocarro. We really liked it, reviews are brilliant and we got a good deal on it

ReginaPhalange89 · 01/02/2019 20:41

Thanks everyone . My head's splitting from crying so much. I guess I just need to try be optimistic until I know for sure. My dad's offered to pay for the private test so at least I don't have to worry about the cost for now

Does anyone happen to know how accurate the private testing is, like do they say 100% yes or no or is it just another high/low risk ? She didn't tell me what test it was just that it was an option but costs £400

SnailorSwift · 01/02/2019 20:52

@Giraffe888 raise it with your midwife.
It's likely just stretching/pressure from baby or even related to heartburn but epigastric pain is one of the symptoms my midwife said today to get checked out as Ive history of preeclampsia in my last pregnancy.

More likely to be nothing at all especially if you are feeling well otherwise but worth raising with them so they can check BP etc.

Giraffe888 · 01/02/2019 20:59

Thanks @snailorswift I’m at the midwife on Wednesday so I’ll mention it then x

SnailorSwift · 01/02/2019 21:01

The pain she said to watch for is just under bra at the front so if yours is at the back it's much more likely to just be stretching! But best to mention it anyway 💕

Capybaras · 01/02/2019 21:36

Sorry to hear you've got this worry @ReginaPhalange89 hopefully you can have the private testing done quickly to put your mind at ease.

Giraffe888 · 01/02/2019 22:00

@snailorswift mine is at the front. Would pre-eclampsia be showing this early? I’m 15 wk tomorrow x

Kentishgal · 01/02/2019 22:01

Reginaphalange I'll try and post a pic of what my test says exactly but it's basically something along the lines of the clinical validation data from the harmony test insert says the negative prediction rate is greater than 99% (in terms of accuracy).
