Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

I didn't even know it was a possibility @Kentishgal just assumed immunity would be lifelong! Yes they said a jab straight after baby is born and another 4 weeks later and be vigilant in case of developing any rashes.

BeckyButterfly · 26/01/2019 23:41

@AIDE2424 it was me that was talking about my love of dinosaurs so thank you! I’ll definitely be having a look.

Thanks for the maternity clothes info. I know a few people have mentioned Topshop and H&M but I’m always reluctant because I don’t usually fit in to their clothes (I’m not exactly skinny!) I have lost almost a stone since falling pregnant though so you never know haha.

I’ve had a few run ins with midwives who’ve been less than friendly throughout this pregnancy and the last. I get the feeling that they are extremely desensitised to any complications in pregnancy because they see it so often that they forget it is a big deal to the ones who are actually going through it. My current midwife is quite nice but still not massively interested when I have had to ring with concerns.

Yukka · 27/01/2019 00:08

@snailorswift I also found out through screening bloods that I never had chicken pox (mum couldn’t remember which of us did and which of us didn’t so midwife said she would ask for a check) so no immunity either. They can give an antiviral if I think I’ve been in contact but that’s it. Avoid avoid avoid.

Kentishgal · 27/01/2019 08:12

I sound like someone with no immunity to anything yukka but I also had that - so I paid for the chicken pox vaccine about 18 months ago as I figured with a little one already I was more likely to catch it. But as you say, for now you can just stay clear of any risk - if you've made it into adult life without catching it then the chances are you won't in the next 6 months!

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 08:24

Golly... it's the 27th today... 5 months for mine and some other due date! I do hope that they come early !

Giraffe888 · 27/01/2019 08:26

@twinkleday I didn’t realise that it’s 6 months today 😮😮

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 08:37

Yep... take it your the 27th July then?

Giraffe888 · 27/01/2019 08:40

@twinkleday yes I am 😃 are you June or July?

@reginaphalange89 do you possibly have the link to the thread you said you did about bottles?

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 08:51

@Giraffe888 june 27th that's why I said 5 months eeeeeek!!

ReginaPhalange89 · 27/01/2019 08:57

@giraffe888 this is the thread I made, after a few people had said about TT bottles and BF I googled and found a lot of people saying their BF babies wouldn't take to them ! So I'm going to avoid those, but I guess it's personal preference! All babies are different

Giraffe888 · 27/01/2019 08:59

Thanks @reginaphalange89. I’ve just been googling too. I might just buy one bottle in a few different makes and see which baby prefers before buying more. If breastfeeding goes well I’ll hopefully not need them often anyway x

ReginaPhalange89 · 27/01/2019 09:12

I still haven't made my mind up what to do 🙈 I didn't breastfeed my first at all, did with my second but I ended up in agony around week 8 and switched her over to bottles/formula. I just have a feeling it's going to be so difficult this time trying to breastfeed with a toddler running around 🙈 I was glued to the sofa last time

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 09:30

@ReginaPhalange89 I am the eldest child and mum BF me for 9 months !! But only my brother for 9 weeks !! As I was the toddler running round only 21 months between us!

ReginaPhalange89 · 27/01/2019 09:34

@twinkleday thats what I'm thinking is going to end up happening ! If I can manage to do it for a few weeks at least I'll be happy. My wee one was totally fine switching over but you never know how it's going to go ! Hopefully it's easy enough again this time .

Capybaras · 27/01/2019 09:48

Oh I've read your thread @ReginaPhalange89 and didn't even realise that babies don't like certain bottles! We bought the TT closer to nature set in the sale so I really hope the baby gets on with it! Planning on breastfeeding to begin with before moving onto formula (is that combi feeding?). I'm clueless!

Is anyone else finding themselves more breathless than usual? Walks/hills I used to do are making me a lot more out of breath so trying to take it slowly, but hate the feeling of being 'unfit' even if it just it because of the baby!

We've got a few names for boys and girls which both me and DH have wanted for ages - but will decide properly once we know the sex I think!

ReginaPhalange89 · 27/01/2019 10:00

@Capybaras every baby is different so you might get on fine with TT! Maybe depends how long you BF for before trying the bottles too. I actually switched my wee one on to Avent and she took no problem , yet others have said their baby hasn't liked those. Don't think you ever really know until you try !

And yes I'm also super out of breath, I went across to the shop last night (for sweets haha!) And when I came back my OH asked why I was so out of breath 😂 it's literally 2 mins away but it's up hill on the way back lol

Capybaras · 27/01/2019 10:44

Fingers crossed they'll like it!

It's mad how out of breath you become - I don't want to be one of these 'oh I'm pregnant look after me' kind of people, I want to be strong but it's hard going when you're out of breath from a simple walk! Grin
Probably doesn't help that I stopped running in the first trimester as I was so exhausted and haven't got back on it! Doing pregnancy yoga and walking but that's it on the exercise front! Want to start swimming when I find a suitable costume!

DianaBlythe · 27/01/2019 11:19

Capybaras - are you me? I know you’re geographically near! I also stopped running in the first trimester, haven’t got back on it, have started yoga and am trying to find suitable swimwear!

And yes the app I was talking about is called BabyName - find it together.

FuzzyPixel · 27/01/2019 11:27

I've just been to one of the Mamas & Papas parents to be events. Whilst it was very useful, there's so much to consider when picking anything. My mind has been blown. DH is loving it though!

StargazyDrifter · 27/01/2019 11:52

I'm also finding myself out of breath a lot. Most recently, I was on a call with work from home, walking up and down our hallway out of boredom; when it was my turn to speak I was all short of breath. Goodness knows what they thought I'd been doing! 🙄

Would be very interested in any swimwear tips, there's a pool near us I've been meaning to join.

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 11:59

@FuzzyPixel we went to mamas and papas with personal shopping appointment and they were really good on one to ones too taking us round the whole shop and you get a free gift coffee and cookies we went back twice when I had number crunched to take us to the next 'extra discount bracket' and in total saved £1200!! Really good there for us newbies x

cathyj87 · 27/01/2019 12:41

Re being out of breath- darling hubby told me yesterday I was breathing "like a fat person who wanted cake" lol I mean he wasn't wrong but still... was painting the nursery undercoat and it had me so out of breath?!

ReginaPhalange89 · 27/01/2019 14:40

Ah have to say I'm kind of jealous of those doing Mama's and papas events and personal shopping etc ! We're not really buying much this time round , bit gutted lol ! We already have a lot of things from my toddler so not really needing much. I have a feeling I'll go daft once I find out the sex though and end up buying anyway 😂

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 15:09

@ReginaPhalange89 the things we are buying I see an investment so if we are fortunate to have number two then will be already kitted out in neutral everything.

Currently flogging stuff on FB as we are nesting... so far sold lots and a car made about £3k ... people literally buy anything! If you market it cheap enough :)

BeckyButterfly · 27/01/2019 15:25

My in laws told us today that they are going to buy us our prom! They are so sweet 😊
