Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

That should say pram. My phone has decided that I would be more likely to say prom than pram...

ReginaPhalange89 · 27/01/2019 15:27

Yeah exactly, anything you buy with baby #1 can be used again !

Capybaras · 27/01/2019 15:28

That's so weird @DianaBlythe - I'll keep an eye out for you!

I did see a nice looking swimming costume on H&M but waiting till payday before I order it!

The mamas and papas shopping sounds great - although I'm such a sucker for salespeople I'd probably go in looking for one thing and come out with the whole shop!

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 15:33

@Capybaras I once did phone tele sales so I know all the tricks they use to convince people and the commissions, and I am a good haggler too... never be too afraid to ask for discount :)

Capybaras · 27/01/2019 15:37

@TwinkleDay I think when it comes to your baby, you're much more likely to buy additional/higher priced items if they're pushed as being safer etc. And probably buy things you don't necessarily need! I've never tried haggling in a shop as I always thought the management would set the price not the sales staff, but I suppose they can always offer deals if they want your sale!

OneMoreWish · 27/01/2019 16:06

I keep getting breathless , and I'm hardly doing anything to get breathless feel a right dope

I bought quite a bit for first baby so hoping I can reuse for this baby as don't have as much money this time round!

No more bleeding so far but still nervous. I'm going to book a private scan next week just so I can see my baby moving to reassure me

TwinkleDay · 27/01/2019 17:34

@Capybaras there's always a deal, if you go in armed with information and research they will generally price match and throw in some extras.

When we got our new mattress in October I got a free mattress protector free delivery £200 off the price and some ornaments out of the shop 😂😂

HchyScott · 27/01/2019 20:34

Bloody hell @TwinkleDay I need you to come shopping with us, DH is adamant we need a new car (we really do but I’m shitting myself about being poor on maternity pay) and we need a good haggler with us!!!

TwinkleDay · 28/01/2019 07:10

@HchyScott lol just sold a focus, fords are my go to for cars :) have a look around and set a limit if your paying cash

HchyScott · 28/01/2019 07:14

@TwinkleDay we are literally looking at a 15 plate white focus!! We will have to do it on HP or pcp. It’s scary to me as I own my current car but the focus is loads cheaper on tax and insurance and we would go down to one car so I see his point

TwinkleDay · 28/01/2019 07:23

Yep we have the zetec s Focus sporty and only £20 tax a year! Zippy too..

I am struggling battling off a cold with no drugs medicines etc... I am on hot water honey and lemon and turmeric tea... can anyone recommend anything else. I know we can have paracetamol but trying to steer clear... it's so hard I'm at the itchy ear snotty mucus cough stage 😟 and get warm baths every night x

thedust · 28/01/2019 07:42

@TwinkleDay I was similar the other week, I took some ASDA own brand decongestant because it didn't say anything on the packet about consulting doctor/midwife if pregnant like it does on some medicines. I was desperate because the pressure on my sinuses was unbearable.

The pregnancy insomnia is back. I was bad during the first trimester but then started sleeping like a log again. Awake at 4.30 this morning, couldn't get back to sleep so got up at 5.30 and made some granola and walked the dog and started work at 7.15! Then at least I can finish early. At the midwife this morning for my 16 week check up.

Squ1ggle · 28/01/2019 07:48

We've just sold a focus, was a great car but was really getting old and we wanted a bigger boot so we've bought a 16 plate ford c max and we're really happy with it. Check out personal loans rather than car finance as they'll often be cheaper rates. We borrowed £10k and it'll only cost us £500 in interest over 3 years. We got it through our bank (Natwest)

AIDE2424 · 28/01/2019 07:56

I need a new car too! And a new house 😩 so much to do before baby comes! I currently have a fiat 500. Going car shopping over the next few weeks to see what there is I like my partner is car mad and is suggesting a ford as he’s only ever owned ford, and there really reliable so we shall see. Xx

ReginaPhalange89 · 28/01/2019 08:17

We bought a 7 seater quashqai last year, just as well we did because we thought we were done at 2 kids back then 😂

HchyScott · 28/01/2019 08:42

@Squ1ggle thanks I’ll definitely bare that in mind. @ReginaPhalange89 DH would love a qashqui as my mum and dad have one and he loves it, id rather an Audi q3... when we win the lottery lol!

FuzzyPixel · 28/01/2019 08:59

@TwinkleDay I wish I could offer some suggestions. I am in a similar place. My cold seems to be triggering more sickness which isn't at all helpful.

I have a diffuser and often use with essential oils during colds to help me sleep, but it looks as though that will be out of the question too.

Lots of fluid and sleep where possible I think.

TwinkleDay · 28/01/2019 09:10

@FuzzyPixel thanks, just try and ride it out and work 🤨 not fun when I'm off to 8 supermarkets today

Kentishgal · 28/01/2019 10:16

twinkleday and fuzzypixel I'm with you - it's absolutely rotten. I didnt think about the essential oils thing and having been using olbas. I bought a vicks sea water vapospray but not sure it has helped much. Last day of my antibiotics today and bronchitis is much worse so need to go back tomorrow. I'd usually just ride this out but being pregnant has made me worry about it - not had such a bad cough in ages.

Capybaras · 28/01/2019 10:35

@TwinkleDay I had a cold last week and still a bit stuffy now. It sucked not being able to use my trusty decongestants. Not much to offer sorry other than what you said, I took paracetamol if my temp was getting high/headache too much, otherwise lots of baths, steam bowls for my head and olbas oil! And loads of orange juice for vit c and sleep! Hope you feel better soon!

Twistering · 28/01/2019 10:37

Anyone having much cramping/pain? I got woken up at 4.30am with combination of low painful cramps and a feeling like someone ramming a knitting needle up my foof. Was scary but seems to have gone except low ache and talking myself into it just being round ligament pain?? 17 weeks tomorrow.

On the £ subject, also worth exploring a credit card as well as personal loan if you can get a high enough limit on the card. Barclaycard (amongst others) do money transfers - ie they put the money in your bank to do with as you want - for as little as 1.5% fee and then interest free for at least a year. That’s what I did with my last car.

Twistering · 28/01/2019 10:41

@TwinkleDay sorry to hear feeling shit. I’d cave and just take one paracetamol occasionally, will make all the difference to recovery time. Get well vibes!

HchyScott · 28/01/2019 11:16

@Twistering thank you, I’ll look into that although I’m not sure if I’d would work, Im still paying the honeymoon off on our credit card lol 🙈
I have had awful pains since last Thursday night, sharp pains when sitting down or wind moving, have been so so uncomfortable... well a box of grapes last night sorted it out!!! Really didn’t think it was wind or constipation as I was still going abit every couple of days ( Sorry If TMI). I just assumed it was stretching round ligament pain ect as my tummy popped so much too. Nope, I was literally full of shit 🤣🤣🤣 feel like a new woman today!!!!

Twistering · 28/01/2019 11:24

Hahahahaha @HchyScott!! Maybe I just need a big poo! :). Didn’t think was that as did a very satisfactory one yesterday (def TMI) but perhaps we have a backlog!! Ha!

HchyScott · 28/01/2019 11:27

@Twistering Hahaha I can definitely say for sure I had a backlog! Clear as a whistle now and back into my size 12 jeans lol!! Enjoy some grapes today and hopefully you’ll feel better too!
