Hello,

Hope everyone is as ok as can be, been a bit quiet with panic over past losses. I hit 12 weeks this weekend.

I thought I'd done really well, fatigue was the worst part, then Sunday I started with morning sickness totally out of no where.

I'm actually showing, I think possibly as I was really slim. A few people have asked is there anything I want to tell them, failing at being at all subtle. Need to invest in more baggy clothes.

katmarie · 22/03/2019 21:52

Hi all, I'm actually back to feeling human again (mostly). I've been hunting on ebay for maternity workwear because my trousers are starting to get a bit tight round the waist. Can I just say that professional looking maternity wear is either horrifyingly expensive or really ugly. Or stripey. Why is everything stripey?

Anyway, back to work on monday after two weeks off, so that will be fun, and then it will only be another week and a bit to the scan :)

Pinkywoo · 27/03/2019 11:09

Hi, can I join you? I'm 39 and due on the 25th of October with my first, my booking in appointment is tomorrow so getting real!

Luxembourgmama · 29/03/2019 09:42

I'm starting to relax after a scan at almost 10 weeks. AFter a MMC last year. Is there a facebook group?

Birchwoods · 30/03/2019 05:50

Just to let you all know so you can remove me from the list, sadly I've had a MMC. I found out on Wednesday when I went for a scan after a tiny tiny bit of brown spotting that the baby died at 8+6 (I should've been 10+5) and I went for the ERPC (surgical management) yesterday.

I'm devastated but feel grateful to already have my beautiful daughter and will hopefully be on another pregnancy board soon. Good luck to you all in your journeys. xx

Whowouldhavethoughtit · 02/04/2019 08:29

@Birchwoods I'm so sorry, I hope you are ok and sending lots of love your way Flowers

Everyone had been so quiet on here recently (myself included) and I imagine it's because of the long dragging 12 week wait.
So has anyone had their 12 week scan yet?

katmarie · 04/04/2019 15:17

I had my scan yesterday. I had my due date spot on, 16th October and all looking healthy which is such a huge relief. It was so wonderful to actually see a baby in there too. I told work this week as well and they have all taken it very well.

The wierd pregnancy nightmares have started as well which is fun, but at least I have a bit less anxiety over everything now.

SW2102 · 07/04/2019 17:24

Can I join? Was sort of following already but now I've had my 12 week scan it's feeling a bit more real! Due 13th Oct with number 2 Smile

Worldtourist · 10/04/2019 07:39

Hey everyone, I had my scan on Monday and they've changed my due date to 16th October, so snap @Katmatie !! It was really good to see baby in there, as although the per sticks said I was pregnant, I've not had any other symptoms that I would have associated with pregnancy if the stock hadn't confirmed it.
I still haven't told work, but I'm planning on it after our next payday on 26th.
How is everyone else doing? Have any of you new mums to be bought much baby stuff yet? I bought a snuggle suit, and a kind of snow suit thing in the sales in prep for next winter, plus a dungaree set. My mum said, "Oh, so you think you're having a boy then?!" - I really thought I'd bought unisex colours (ok, maybe not the khaki suit) but hey, I loved khaki as a teenager, in fact I still do! Does anyone else's mum's come out with unhelpful / not well thought through comments that sting you a bit?
I showed mum the baby pic from the scan and she said, "So, it didn't smile for the camera then?" (She really needs to learn to use emojis!!), And when I said that the baby wouldn't move into a useful position to be measured so I was sent off for a walk to see if it'd turn round, she wrote back, "It's a slug!". Ouch. At that point I said I wasn't finding her funny.
Thankfully without prompting the next morning, she qualified her statement and said that she had meant the baby was being sluggish in not wanting to turn around...I'm pleased that at least when we seem to be at an impasse, I can say that she's upset me and we get over it, and vice versa, etc.
Yesterday, I started to tell friends and family about the baby. It felt quite exciting to tell people :) after we had initially told immediate family early on.

Whowouldhavethoughtit · 10/04/2019 09:45

Congrats ladies on the scans! It's all getting a bit real now isn't it!
My mother hasn't been massively involved or said a huge amount to be fair, though she asked for a scan picture and seemed really disappointed when it wasn't crystal clear!
We haven't got anything yet, it's my first and I'm so scared that I don't dare untill after the 20 week scan (we will definitely be finding out the sex!) We have said we might start picking up packs of nappies and wipes to stock pile them when we do our weekly shop though.
Is this your mum's first @worldtourist? It's sounds like she is trying to be funny and light hearted but maybe not doing very well at it!

Beeseeinya · 10/04/2019 10:24

I think I read advice somewhere not to stockpile nappies, as you wont be sure which ones you get on with! R maybe baby will be super tiny or a heffer... That's probably first time parent advice :) wipes seem like a good idea though! Keep an eye out for good deals on all that stuff I guess.

Interesting to see people buying clothes, makes sense to buy s few winter bits in the sale! I fancy a shopping trip now! I'm going to a baby show at the weekend, so far I've only been thinking about the big equipment and how it will all fit in the house. I've started to clear out the spare room and cupboard to turn it into baby room and all nappies etc will have to go in there, it's a tiny room but baby won't notice.

angel0071987 · 10/04/2019 15:50

@Whowouldhavethoughtit be careful stockpiling nappies. Our ds was allergic to pampers and Huggies constantly leaked everywhere. Turns out aldi or Tesco own brand the best. Mil had stockpiled for us and we still to this day have tons of nappies we never used up in attic. You may also get some Midwives/health visitors telling you not to use wipes on newborns and only cotton wool and water. Ignore them!! We did and so much easier. Although some wipes are heavily perfumed and not great for newborns and sensitive skins

64632K · 10/04/2019 17:47

Due 5th October, 37 and will be our first and probably our last too.
Not bought anything yet but plenty of free samples. Will buy our nappies nearer the time as we will not be using disposable. Planning on buying things this weekend at the Baby and Toddler Show this weekend as I know they have heavy discounts and lots of freebies

Whowouldhavethoughtit · 10/04/2019 19:42

Thank you for the advice everyone!
I feel like I need to find a baby show to go to!

64632K · 11/04/2019 07:24

Not sure where abouts in the Country you are but the baby and toddler show is in Sandown Park this weekend. Baby markets are also a good bet too

Worldtourist · 15/04/2019 13:36

So, I told my line manager about the baby on Friday. I wasn't expecting a great fanfare of congratulations, but it went down like a lead balloon! And seeing as she is one of 6 partners, I know she's yet to tell all of them so I'm on tenterhooks until I've seen all of them and felt their reaction.

And my work jeans are getting tight now, or my belt is making my middle feel uncomfortable, but I'm not showing yet, so feel it's too early to move into pregnancy trousers, but I don't want to buy new trousers in a larger size either! Argh!

Worldtourist · 15/04/2019 13:37

Drinks: what are your favourite non-alcoholic beverages. They don't have to be alcohol substitutions - tea is a perfectly viable reply!
Just wondering what people are enjoying drinking now that booze is off the menu!

Pfb12345 · 15/04/2019 21:12

Worldtourist, I'd just buy the maternity clothes it's just much more comfy. It's my second pregnancy and I've been in some of my smaller old ones for weeks. Also I like Becks blue for a fake alcohol hit. Didn't find a wine that wasn't disgusting last time though.

64632K · 20/04/2019 15:03

I hit 16 weeks exactly today and woke up with brown spotting, panic ensued when I wiped (sorry tmi) and there was lots of brown blood and tissue. Went to hospital and they discharged us after all the tests and said it happens as the uterus and placenta are at different play with the bladder now so its old blood, no fresh blood detected. Panic over

Worldtourist · 21/04/2019 15:38

@64632K that must have been terrifying!! I'm so pleased you were discharged with good news!!
Happy Easter!! BearFlowers

64632K · 21/04/2019 16:28

Thanks Worldtourist, it was and the discharge is still there today but no red just brown so we are ok.

Walktwomoons · 22/04/2019 21:12

For non-alchoholic drinks I like:
-ginger beer in bottles that look like beer bottles from Asda.
-sparkling water with or without cordial, bits of mint or lemon

I wonder if there is a fake no alc pimms alternative? Seems like it wouldn't be hard to make it taste pimms-y

Walktwomoons · 22/04/2019 21:15

I just googled... This recipe says that lemonade and balsamic vinegar tastes like pimms??! joinclubsoda.co.uk/fake-alcohol-free-pimms/
I think my morning sickness just came back reading that recipe Grin

Worldtourist · 23/04/2019 11:31

@Walktwomoons
I tried the non- alcoholic Pimm's at the weekend. Genuinely not bad at all. I chucked a load of fruit in, let it sit for a bit and it was nice :) even my husband said it was good!

I'm thinking of trying to concoct some sort of elderflower, mint and apple juice type mocktail as a refreshing summer taste, over lots of ice.

pri16 · 08/05/2019 08:15

Due October 5th, just stumbled across this group! Pregnant with my 1st, I'm 28yrs old.
How's it going for everyone? Can anyone on their 1st pregnancy feel flutters/kicking yet? Xx
