Welcome and congratulations to all the new ladies!

I'm 6 + 3 now, and had a fair amount of pink spotting from week 4 to week 5. I knew that they wouldn't scan me at that point as it was too early so I just stuck my head in the sand basically! I've had no further spotting for about a week, touch wood!

I've just done a digital pregnancy test with weeks indicator and that says pregnant 3+ so I'm feeling incredibly relieved that it seems like it wasn't a sign of bad things to come. It was super light (literally a spot or two on wiping) but you still worry don't you (especially after having a MC).

I have my booking in appointment with the midwife on Thursday so I'll mention it to her and see what she says.

Hope everyone is doing well!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 11/02/2019 09:00

Thanks so much @Catren she has been BEGGING me to 'get a baby' for over a year now so I reckon you could be right (unless the novelty wears off very quickly). How are you feeling?

@AutumnBabii wow! What an amazing surprise!
That's interesting re the bodies defenses. Are you well and truly over the flu now?

HarryPottersSecretSister · 11/02/2019 09:10

@katmarie huge congratulations. There's 15 months between my youngest 2 (now 9 and 7 years) and they are the best friends imaginable. Close enough in age to have many of the same interests. It'll be lovely.

@Glitterandunicorns so so pleased to read that the spotting has stopped and about the digital read. I've had friends who this happened to and although all was fine in the end, I understand what an awful additional worry it brings.

Is anyone else terrified at the minute? Early pregnancy tests are fantastic in one way but a curse in another. I think I know way too early. I'm only 3 + 3 now 😐 it was a very strong line on Saturday and I'm having (very mild) symptoms but I won't have missed a period until next Friday and I'm so overly anxious that, with knowing so early, something can very easily go 'wrong'.
Worrying is pointless because it's not going to help either way but I can't help it. Think I'm going to be an obsessive POAS-er (that's a word now) for the next week or so.

Sorry for being so negative, I understand the worry comes with the territory. I'd just like to hit fast forward on time and be a few a few more weeks on so I could relax a bit

HMIB · 11/02/2019 09:43

@HarryPottersSecretSister I'm the same I found out when I was 3+3 I'm now only 3+5. Af was either meant to be here yesterday or today. And no sign!!! I've run out of tests. Some more should be getting delivered today, really hoping for a nice dark line! It makes you worry a whole lot more when you find out so early doesn't it!! X

HarryPottersSecretSister · 11/02/2019 09:51

Oh thank God it's not just me @HMIB ! Am a worrier in general so I think this might be a anxious few weeks.
Great sign that there's no sign of AF 🙌 I'm kind of using Friday (AF due date) as a mild marker for myself. Have you got any symptoms at the minute?

HMIB · 11/02/2019 10:25

@HarryPottersSecretSister no real symptoms yet. I don't usually get anything until the sickness starts at 5 weeks. Although I just feel more tender down there. Maybe like I've pulled a muscle.

More tests just arrived and I've just done a clear blue one with only a 3 hour pee hold. And it's nice and dark. I'm 13dpo now! I calm down once I've got a 3+ on a clear blue digital. X

October 2019!
HarryPottersSecretSister · 11/02/2019 10:37

@HMIB that is one dark line for sure! I'm delighted. Hope it's alleviated some of today's worries for you.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 11/02/2019 10:38

I've just did a pound shop cheapie and the line is definitely darker than Saturday's. You and I will jointly keep the pregnancy test industry booming for the next few weeks.. 😂👍

HMIB · 11/02/2019 10:41

@HarryPottersSecretSister oh I know. And even more so for me as I can't get into town for the next couple days. So I literally just bought £30 worth of clear blue that's just turned up with my weekly shop 🤦🏼‍♀️. I'm gonna take a digital tomorrow and hopefully it should say 2-3 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻. Xx

Catren · 11/02/2019 19:51

I also poas this morning as i have my second blood test at the fertility clinic today, so wanted to check, and it says 3+. Phew! This anxiety is real!

If all well my first scan is in two weeks and I'll be 7w then 😬

BillyAndTheSillies · 12/02/2019 08:15

@Catren I'm always too scared to take digis but can imagine how good it is to see the weeks move on.

I'm still full of nausea and my boobs are getting more painful by the day. The tiredness has hit like a sledgehammer, definitely worse than DC1. I might have been a little stricter on giving up caffeine this time around though?
Booked a private scan on Monday 4th, by my calculations I'll be 8+1. DH will come in with me and if all is well, MIL and DS will be able to come and see as they'll be in the waiting room.
Thankfully a busy few weeks ahead for some distraction but the days are dragging!

coconutlatte44 · 12/02/2019 09:11

Hi everyone! Just got my positive test today and bursting with excitement!

I'm 32 and this is my first pregnancy. 4 weeks exactly tomorrow.

Can't believe this is really happening!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 12/02/2019 19:59

@coconutlatte44 huge congratulations! I'll be four weeks on Friday 🤞🏻

How are you feeling?

coconutlatte44 · 12/02/2019 20:18

Congrats to you too! So if all goes well we will be due around the same time.

Had cramps for the last day and a half and they're subsiding but my stomach definitely feels weird.

My husband - who i know WILL be excited as me - doesn't seem to be just yet. To be honest I am a bit disappointed by his reaction as we have very much both been on board with this whole trying thing, I think he just is so surprised it happened so quickly that he hasn't mentally prepared himself to take it in.

So feeling a bit emotional about that but not ready to discuss with him, I do think he will turn a corner as it becomes more real, he is not a hiding-feelings kind of person generally!

How are you?

HarryPottersSecretSister · 12/02/2019 20:42

Aw you poor love, i can totally understand your disappointment!

I think it sinks in with us quicker as we're constantly symptom spotting/ noticing little changes (that pulling/ cramping feeling here too!) but I think men can take a little longer for the penny to drop as nothing tangible has really changed for them (yet).
Always noticed it really started to hit home with my DH when he'd see the first scan ("Jesus, you actually have a baby in there!") or when I started to show.

I hope it drops with yours soon and you both can really start to get excited together!

This is number 4 for me but my youngest is almost 8 so I feel like I've forgotten absolutely everything.

Just feeling really anxious to be honest- it's such early days and I can't help worrying.

Physically- metallic taste in mouth, a little tired, pulling and cramping feeling in lower stomach and slightly nauseous at times.

How lovely we are close in dates!

Catren · 12/02/2019 21:12

Ah coconut I'm sure he'll come around! Might also be a bit of self preservation happening - my dh didnt get REALLY excited until he knew everything was ok after the 12w scan. We hadn't had any mcs or anything, I think he found it SUCH good news that he couldn't get worked up about it until he knew it was for real.

I had my second beta test yesterday and my hcg levels went from 385 to 6000 in a week, so that's really good and I can relax for a couple of weeks.

I don't have the metallic taste but i'm just so tired! I guess i didn't have a 3yo to contend with last time, plus full night's of uninterrupted slumber! Was in bed by 8.45 last night 😂

I think my ms might have started today. Woke up feeling dodgy, which only left after I'd eaten. Eek. At 5+4 it's a bit early..!

coconutlatte44 · 12/02/2019 21:57

Thanks @harry and @Catren - I felt better even after typing it out and really appreciate advice coming from those of you who have been through this before. I am confident he will come around and know he is really excited to have a kid - I think I just expected the same rush of excitement from him as I felt!! I agree there is definitely a bit of self preservation and also some fear both of something going wrong and of the big changes this means - we are both pretty happy with our lives at the moment (and love our freedom!!) and it is scary thinking of all the things that will be different in ways we can't even imagine.

Thanks again for the reassurance!!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 13/02/2019 09:41

Catren that is absolutely brilliant (the massive increase in HCG) must be such a relief. I'm delighted you can relax a little now.

Coconut again, that's all so understandable. I think all of us worry so much about the potential of something going wrong.

I've downloaded the 'what to expect' app. Its really good if anyone fancies doing the same (week by week pictures of what your baby would resemble/ interesting facts etc) Coconut maybe you could screenshot and spam your DH with daily updates from it? Wink (I'm as subtle as an elephant in a kitchen)

Whowouldhavethoughtit · 13/02/2019 13:52

Have any of you thought about paying for an early scan? I don't know if it's because it's my first that I'm a nervous wreck but I think I might book one for peace of mind x

Glitterandunicorns · 13/02/2019 15:12

Hi @Whowouldhavethoughtit I'll be booking an early scan as I had a MC with my last pregnancy. I'm 6+6 now so will hopefully book one for 8 weeks.

HarryPottersSecretSister · 13/02/2019 19:21

@Whowouldhavethoughtit I definitely will be- am also a nervous wreck.
I just feel that it will be money well spent if it helps alleviate some of the anxiety/ helps me to relax a little.

I've been doing tests pretty much daily since last Saturday (which was 6 days before AF is due- my AF would have been due this Friday) and the lines are considerably darker each day which is good (I think)
Thing is, even an early scan seems forever away for me. (I found out too early! 😂) 4 weeks this Friday, think I'll aim for a scan at 9 or 10 weeks.
So yeah, ages away

What week are you considering booking one for (If you do go ahead)?

Catren · 13/02/2019 20:57

I'm having one at 7 weeks as it's an ivf baby, so maybe that's a good time? Would it rule out the risks in the first 12 weeks though, or just show things are in the right place and there's a heart beat? Sorry if that was harsh, i'm also wondering how the risks change once you see a heart beat. Ive had friends book private ones and none of them regretted it!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 13/02/2019 21:01

Catren is it an internal scan at 7 weeks where you are?
Private clinic I was looking at said between 6-8 weeks it's an internal scan and 8 weeks + it's external.

Whowouldhavethoughtit · 13/02/2019 21:53

Well I booked one today for what I thought was next Sunday (which would make me 7 weeks 5 days) but only realised when I got home that it's this Sunday! I'm going to call them tomorrow and hopefully rearrange for next week so around the 7 week mark.
I've ready a fair few thread with for and against arguments. I think even if something awful happens after the scan at least I would have known that at the point where I had the scan I was happy and so was my baby. And if I have the scan and the baby isn't viable then I know and can deal with it. To me it's a no brainer!
My symptoms have slightly subsided, my cramps aren't as crampy and I'm a lot less hormonal. I have no signs to worry about really but in my head I keep think the more symptoms the more pregnant I am.....ridiculous I know!

HarryPottersSecretSister · 13/02/2019 22:21

@Whowouldhavethoughtit no, absolutely not ridiculous at all. I completely get it.
I think you've done the right thing (not that it matters what I think obviously!) if it reassures you - that's brilliant.
Do remember that as each of these early weeks pass, the odds of anything going wrong decrease hugely.

Sunday week then? You won't feel that! Please keep us posted, it'll be lovely ❤️
