Welcome, @ememem84! Sorry the sickness/nausea hasn't been great. Loads of us here who can empathise with that :(

How are you feeling about it all, if you don't mind me asking, given you were on the pill?

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/12/2018 21:43

Thanks Roo!

Also ladies , I just nipped into Lidl for a look and found some maternity jeans ! They're super skinny and stretchy and seriously look exactly like my H&M ones ! £7.99! I had no idea they did maternity stuff. They also had nursing bras and maternity cardigans.

And I'm also one who is constantly starving! But not for anything healthy usually 🙈 and no real sickness so instead of puking up what I eat I'm just stuffing my face, put on a few lbs already. Booking appt tomorrow too, was hoping to have lost some for that ! Gutted lol

Hey it's me,

I had a follow up scan on Monday to confirm blighted ovum and too my surprise there was a baby and HEARTBEAT. Just three days after my last scan. So I think I'm still in although should be 7 weeks 4 and baby measuring five weeks 5 which seems impossible due to when I got my positive test.

Was totally gobsmacked.

Apart from that give me all the nausea tips! I literally can't function right now.

Also does anyone know an easier way of getting to the end of the thread on the mobile app rather than keep scrolling down and down?

Oh wow @bumbletub! Fingers crossed for you that it's a sticky bean and just on the small side ! That must have been a shock.

For sickness..... Sipping ice cold water, sniffing ginger , eating ginger biscuits or drinking ginger ale ! Also sucking sour sweets apparently? I tried that last pregnancy can't remember if it worked. Sickness bands if you don't have any already !

And welcome @ememem84 !

@bumbletub this is amazing news!!!! Wow!!! So pleased for you!!!
With regards to getting to the end of the thread, top right there should be two arrows, one pointing up and one down? Tap the down one and it'll flip the thread so latest post is first xx

Just checking in - we've been away for the last few days so haven't been on much. So much to catch up on! Hope everyone is doing okay and those with sickness are starting to see light at the end of the 1st trimester tunnel!

Got the 12wk scan tomorrow and I'm so nervous. The days away have distracted me from thinking to much but now lying in bed and it's all i can think about. Haven't had any symptoms to suggest anything is wrong but haven't had any extreme pregnancy symptoms either (compared to others that is!) so of course my mind and googling have gone into over-drive.

Good luck @jxtina86
I feel the same as you and my first scan, at 12 weeks, is next Tuesday. So hard to wait and not convince yourself there will be a problem. Feels like if I prepare for the worst then anything else will be better.

Roo I’m getting used to the idea! It was a massive shock. Not unwanted as we had talked about another but ds is only 15 months and I wasn’t ready for dc2 yet. But it’s happening now so we’re going to roll with it.

Dr gave me all the options. As she made me do the test because I went in for something else entirely...my first words were “oh fuck”
I couldn’t do “the other”. It’s going to be tough initially physically mentally and emotionally with 2 under 2 (23 month age gap we think) but it’ll be ok. We will manage. There was also that underlying thought of “I’m 34. What if this is my last shot at another one?” I was off the pill for 2 years when we were Ttc ds. And I got pregnant when I’d made a decision to find out what was wrong with us (2 years and nothing had happened until I made an appointment and booked a 4 week trip to New Zealand for bils wedding

Anyway. I’m happy about this. Am so happy ds will be a big bro.

Can we all take a moment for a round of applause for my pregnancy that allowed me the first full nights sleep since week 5? I did not wake up for a 3am biscuit nibble! Think i finally ate enough! I have put on 5lbs though....

teinkle absolutely! Positivity only. I’m so happy (just dealing with the shock of another pregnancy so soon!)

Sorry to hear about losses. I hope everyone is ok xx

Good luck with your scan tomorrow @Jxtina86 I think you're the first to have a 12 week scan how exciting!

Yay for the good news ladies!

Good luck with your dating scans as well, mine is next Tuesday and I am FREAKING about it. I did last time though 😂 was convinced there would be nothing there when they looked!

My nausea has finally gone 🤞🤞 but have some serious middle of the night insomnia and getting dizzy and wobbly. Had to talk DH down from frog marching me to the GP this morning, I know he's worried, bless him, but it's sort of normal. I have promised him I will go if it carries on.

Welcome @ememem84 I'll also have 2 under 2. DS is a July baby, this one is currently due at the end of June, but I'm almost certainly not going to go to term with it (DS was 36weeks), so who knows what the age gap will be!

So ladies.. I've not mentioned it as it's probably outing. But I'm being made redundant, not great timing. Obviously my little bean is the most important thing right now. I'm now in my last week of work and desperately looking for a new job. I'm struggling, even though I've not mentioned that I'm pregnant.

I'm not sure what I'm asking here.. I think it's just getting to me that and I'm stressing about it.

Come January, I've no idea what I'll do. Are there any jobs that will take on someone who's pregnant? That's realistically only going to be there 6 months before MAT leave? Confused

Report
vixy1988 · 13/12/2018 09:22

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I hated my job and started applying for new ones. I finish mine on 21 December and start my new one early January. When they offered em the job, I told them I was 5 weeks pregnant and they were happy for me!

It helps that the job was in HR so they new they couldn't discriminate. I am now 7+6 and they are messaging me how I'm doing etc.

Just go for it. Plus you don't need to tell them you are pregnant until 15 weeks before you want to take mat leave.

Just checking in!

So happy to hear all ypur positive news!

I'm really starting to struggle with the nausea. 8 weeks today. I really don't want to do this. Last time I was better at 16 weeks. There is no way I can cope another 8 weeks. Booo.

Report
wombatron · 13/12/2018 09:54

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts depending on your roll, could you look for a 6months Mat leave cover role? Something that's a contract? You'll need to work a certain amount to get SMP, but you don't have to disclose your pregnancy until 15weeks before your due date - which is likely
May some times. You normally have to work for a company for a fixed period before they top up SMP, but you would at least be employed for the time required to get your standard!

I’ve got 12 week scan next Tuesday too, there seems to be a few of us that day! The countdown is on Smile

doughnuts there will be places. I think you just have to look. You may be surprised.

Report
ReginaPhalange89 · 13/12/2018 13:01

@fortheloveofdoughnuts you don't have to tell a potential employer you're pregnant until you're around 25 weeks ! I personally probably wouldn't mention it at this point if you're looking for a new job. It shouldn't effect you getting a job but sadly it might well do, they can't use that as a reason not to employ you but they could make up another excuse.

If you do get a new job and aren't entitled to smp you'll still get maternity allowance which is about the same amount I think. Not great but something !

I have a scan tomorrow! Nervous hope the baby has grown! Another scan Sunday and booking in on Tuesday, then 12 week scan January time xx

Report
TheScaredyKat · 13/12/2018 13:27

@Laburna I'm also suffering terrible insomnia and have been since BFP and dizzy and wobbly. Apparently the dizziness is caused by your body producing so much more blood, plus I think mine is increased by low blood pressure which the midwife said is quite normal in pregnancy but need to keep an eye on it still.
Scan on Monday- Eeek!

MakeAWhish · 13/12/2018 13:49

I'm jealous of all your 12 week scans! Got my date through today for mine and it's 14th January. Ages away! Haha. Anyone else been mega emotional? I cried for about an hour this morning about my weight 😭
