ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts Sorry to hear about work, that's horrible and, at a time when body/health are all a bit erratic, this isn't great. Shitty to do it before Christmas too. But onwards and upwards! You've still got time to look around. I also wouldn't tell prospective employers about pregnancy. Sad but true that this can bias them against you.

We looked at reducndany and pregnancy on one of the earlier theads here and thought it wasn't an automatic protection anyway, I think? Probably not if they don't know too. Could you rind a free advice line somewhere? ACAS maybe?

Fingers crossed for you that you land on your feet (gently, we don't want to startle the bean!).

I've also been awake at night, which never happens. It's exhausting. GP signed me off for this week and next week today, I hadn't realised how horrid my symptoms had got, compared to normal, as the increase has been gradual. He was very good.

Laburna Hope you're all set for the big party. Those spots are awful. ☹️

I've just had my booking appt , and pleased it went smoothly! Mw actually said it was like the easiest/quickest booking appt ever, so straightforward lol.

She did say though that they don't normally give the flu jab at this stage (7 weeks) and I'll probably miss being offered it, but I can phone the maternity unit if I want to.

Also, I'm sure I was told last pregnancy that they were changing over to electronic notes and it'd be an app! Is that what you all have ? I mentioned it and she looked completely confused and said no way, it's still paper notes 🤔 not bothered though, quite like having mine to look through

Is anyone having any cravings?

I am 8 weeks tomorrow with my first. (Still horrendously nervous that something will happen)

I had a sudden urge for a cheese and cucumber roll last night at 11pm. I live in a market town and the Waitrose closes at 9 😃 so first thing this morning I got up and bought some cheese and cucumber and had the two most delicious buns! Also a hankering for those friji milkshakes!

Ohh I love those milkshakes @cravingmilkshake .... I've not had any cravings yet ! Last pregnancy it was orange juice ice lollies ! And the one before was vanilla ice cream lol

Regina I had my flu jab yesterday at 7w3d! Told the nurse and she just said it was a good thing. Ah well, I sure it’ll be fine. The jab made my arm ache and it kept me awake most of the night so I’m feeling pretty sleep deprived at work now.

@cravingmilkshake - I haven’t had any mega cravings really but I do often get the urge to eat anything and everything and I’m getting through loads of yoghurt drink, milk and orange juice. I bet I’ll start fancying milkshake now you’ve mentioned it!

Normally I don’t eat much at all, it’s so out of character for me to actually want food. Confused

Hi all - just got back from my scan and all is well. However I'm only 10 weeks (As I thought based on my long cycles) so going back on 2nd Jan for a re-scan as it's too early to do some of the screening tests. Also meant I had to have bloods re-done too. But all in all was amazing to see little one moving around (wouldn't stay still!) And whilst we didn't hear the heartbeat, the sonographer showed us where it was so we could see. Will have a more accurate EDD at next scan but looking like around 11th July (FIL birthday!)

@ReginaPhalange89 I had my booking-in app today and I’ve been given paper notes. The midwife mentioned they were expecting to switch over to electronic next year. Smile

Fab news about all the scans ladies!! hopefully will have plenty more rolling in over the next few weeks.

I was told by my midwife to book in for flu jba, getting mine on monday. but to be fair im a few weeks ahead of you as i will be 11w+6 when i get it.

Our midwifes are all eletronic and online with the app that you download from the app store. its pretty cool

I swear they told me that I'd be one of the last to have paper notes last time and that was over a year ago ! She looked miffed when I mentioned it lol. I'm in Scotland maybe we don't have it yet

Seems like some good news today with scans and appointments.

Re the redundancy, I'd tell them you're pregnant and then appeal (not on grounds of pregnancy) but they may think twice. Well worth a shot! What do you a do? Like someone said, a fixed term contract may be a good idea. That's stress you don't need though so I feel for you. Look after yourself.

Hospital contacted me for another booking in appointment on 20 Dec so that's good as I thought it might be in the new year.

My notes are on an app which I thought was great but as I mentioned before, my doctor surgery hasn't had any notes come over. Found out today it's because the electronic notes linked to the app are locked down to the midwife team only. This means my GP can't view any of it and if I go to my GP and they need to add any pregnancy related notes, they have to give me it on a piece of paper to take to the midwife to update on the app. It's ridiculous to say the least! Apparently the trust are aware of the issue but have done nothing to resolve it.

I'm in Derbyshire and have no idea how our notes work, I got given a huge folder at my booking in appt. I rang the MW yesterday as I'd found out the medical condition from my Partners family and assumed she'd add it to my notes but she said tell them at the scan they have your main notes.

By the way, is anyone else still having the odd dreams?

I'm STILL dreaming about bloody Nick Knowles, and the worst part is, I was actually disappointed this morning when I awoke to discover it wasn't really. That's not normal is it?

The night before I woke up in a panic at 4am because I dreamt I had a hairy chest.

I keep dreaming that I'm a character in Suits. One time I had an awesome fling with Harvey and we fell in love. He decided to follow me back to the UK to propose to me.....

I had my flu jab this morning, arm a bit achy and hurt when I had my afternoon nap so that's annoying! But better safe than sorry.

I also went for my first scan today. I booked a reassurance scan as my 12 week scan isn't until after Christmas. Based on LMP I was 10 weeks 6 days today but the scan measured 9 weeks 4 days. I did have irregular cycles though so was kind of expecting that but also feel disappointed I've got a bit longer to wait until the first trimester is over! Haha. Saw the heartbeat and baby wriggle around, reassuring to know there is a baby in there!

I've been craving carbs and savoury food, I normally have a big sweet tooth but it's just not doing anything for me. Toast every morning instead of my usual porridge, supernoodles for lunch. Can't wait to feel a bit more normal!

I refused the flu jab it made my Mum so ill and contributed to my Nan's death the MW wasn't happy and kept telling me how many pregnant women die from flu. She really pee'd me off as she wasn't taking my answer! I agreed to whooping cough.

1 in 11 deaths in pregnancy are from flu?! I didn't know that. Your informed choice to refuse should absolutely be respected though.

Salt and vinegar crisps here. And peanut butter. Not together. But cannot get enough of the peanut butter. Bought reeses pieces today. Oh god. Heaven.

I had the flu jab on Monday. Dr insisted. I’ve never had it before I wouldn’t usually but I didn’t fancy the idea of flu and pregnant. So went for it.

Still waiting for scan appointment. Dr put a rush on it. So hoping before Christmas.

@StargazyDrifter Im in London too (work in london, live in Surrey) and I also have paper notes.

I've had a really tough week at work and so drained I'm getting cold sores (exhaustion triggers it for me). Hate them! Makes me so self conscious and that combined with feeling horrendous I'm struggling to eat. Which doesn't help on lack of energy. I often feel I'm in this vicious cycle of fatigue.
