Oops I put my reply on the old thread. Sorry.

maxiflump1 · 09/12/2018 23:12

@AliceRR glad you went and got checked out. If they were happy with the trace then there is little they can do this evening as there would be no one around to scan you until tomorrow I guess. Please do go back tomorrow if you are worried x

@lanalawr don't apologise! I very quickly created a new link whilst you were writing your update at the same time. Grin

@lanalawr I think I’m fairly easy going about how it happens but as I really don’t want an epidural I’m just scared that the circumstances will mean they want to try one,
Eg if I needed an emergency c section. I know they’d 100% prefer that to knocking me out cold but because I have no idea how well it’ll work or how fast it’ll wear off (local wears off almost instantly when it does work) so that’s the only situation I’m worried about. If I can say no to one and have other pain relief then I don’t really care how it all goes down!!

powkin · 10/12/2018 00:00

Because most drama haven’t heard of the issue they can be quite arrogant, like when I needed the CVS I told him local wouldn’t help but he insisted on doing it anyway, which just meant two horrible needles instead of one for no actual benefit. And of course I’d never had a CVS so have no way of judging if the local did anything (pretty certain it didn’t!) and as I’ve never had an epidural again I have no idea if it’ll work, so I can’t say “it definitely won’t”, which means they’ll be all gung ho and want to try it!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 10/12/2018 00:33

@powkin I’m putting in my birth plan that if an emergency section is needed, I want to be knocked out! Even if it’s a planned section I wouldnt want to be awake for it... I couldn’t think of anything worse 😬😬

@powkin just be clear in your birth plan (although they don’t always read it) about your issue. Re a section - having had one I can honestly say it was absolutely fine. V surreal but fine. Defintely wouldn’t have wanted to be under for it but a) I hate GA and b) I don’t have an issue with the epidural.

DD has been ill all wknd. All our plans cancelled. I’m having to take leave today as I cannot send her to nursery like this but feeling v stressed about work given I also have 3 hospital appts in the next two weeks all of which necessitates at least half a day out of the office. Damn germs!

Just placemarking on the new thread!!

Feeling properly pregnant now, bending over to pick stuff up is leading to involuntary grunting! DS has been a total ratbag this weekend behaviour wise, hoping this isn’t a sign of things to come. 6 weeks left til baby is here, so much to do before then!

AliceRR · 10/12/2018 09:19

Thanks @maxiflump Yes I’ll see how it goes. Just posted on other thread saying I find it difficult to know what’s normal as it’s not the same every day for me anyway and movements is something that I get anxious about.

Alicejj8x · 10/12/2018 09:35

Place making :)

powkin · 10/12/2018 09:41

Slept soooo badly. Got about 5 hours sleep :( heartburn has been crazy bad and just so uncomfortable.

detachablehoof · 10/12/2018 10:37

@alicerr I feel the same about movement. So hard to know what is normal. Some days it moves so much and some days are much quieter. I freak out a bit on the quieter days but there's generally still some movement so have never called midwife about it. It is very anxiety-inducing!

detachablehoof · 10/12/2018 10:41

IDK whether to even bring this up... but is there anyone else who isn't intending to breastfeed for any reason? I feel super guilty about it but I just really really really don't want to do it. I hate the thought of my baby being reliant on only me for her food and would like my husband to be able to feed her too. And I can't wait for my body to be back to a more normal shape (not enjoying my new huge bust). Either I'll not even try breastfeeding OR maybe I'll just try it for the first few days. But as I say I really don't want to. Absolutely hate the whole concept. (and yes I do know that "breast is best" and I already feel very guilty and I'm aware my reasons are totally selfish!)

On the subject of water births, I didn't fancy one first time round (I'm traumatised by an episode of OBEM where the baby was born and the pool turned red with blood instantly, I'm really squeamish!), was planning on using it for labour but I ended up having to start pushing before I got in the pool!

Those who've had one, does this actually happen - it all turning red at the tiniest bit of blood? Do you feel gross after being in the water with everything? Also I had an episiotomy last time, I'm assuming they'll do one again in the same place and so I won't be able to have a water birth anyway?

Quite fancying the idea this time but want to get a clear picture of what it's like!

bubblybrit · 10/12/2018 10:49

Happy Monday....I’ve only got two weeks left at work. Anyone else in the same position?

welshweasel · 10/12/2018 10:52

@detachablehoof I’m in two minds about it. Really wanted to BF last time but had a small, jaundiced baby that was 5 weeks early and was forced to do formula top ups from birth. Managed to mix feed for 6 weeks then he refused the breast completely. I never really enjoyed BF although didn’t find it painful or difficult. However once he was fully on formula I definitely got more sleep and was able to go out for a few hours and have the odd evening out/night away. It also facilitated me going back to work at 4 months. I’m prettt sure I’ll at least try to mix feed for the first few weeks this time so he can get the colostrum but will then move over to formula again.

Since2016 · 10/12/2018 11:01

@bubblybrit me! Although I’m at home today with a sick DD... I’m still considering going back in Jan to ease guilt / money concerns. It officially it’s two weeks. Scary!
