I already had to give my NCT class a miss due to being ill. Meant to have my parentcraft class at hospital tonight. But not managed to get out of bed yet today for being sick.

At this rate I think I wont be going to any antinatal classes at all.

So hard to plan ahead when ill 😢

Since2016 · 10/12/2018 16:28

I really feel for you @notquiteagandt I found the morning sickness with this pregnancy quite debilitating and it wasn’t a patch on yours. Hideous.

twiglet · 10/12/2018 16:50

Hmm I think the boss of my team is slightly in denial that I'm going on mat leave at the end of Jan they still haven't sorted out cover/replacement!

My workload has gone mental told my line manager that I wasn't going to process anything submitted after the 10th Jan (we have a 28 day process) as I needed to concentrate on clearing what I have. It didn't go down well........ I'm so exhausted Sad

bubblybrit · 10/12/2018 17:00

I really admire you and all the other ladies in a similar position @Lookingforadvice123. I’m counting down the next few weeks as I’m exhausted and want to sleep in (well try to), read a book and watch tv!

emalady · 10/12/2018 18:19

I'm really excited, I'm working until the 4th January - don't get any time off for Christmas except for the bank holidays but with part time work I only have 7 days left! DH isn't impressed with me getting all excited!

Celebelly · 10/12/2018 19:31

I had planned to stop work at Christmas but a client has a piece of work early Jan and she's a really loyal customer so I'm going to fit her in and just hope baby doesn't decide to arrive too early! The extra money will be useful too. Luckily I work from home so I can do it from sofa!

We have our second antenatal class tomorrow morning, and then I have my pregnancy massage! Grin

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 10/12/2018 19:50

So glad we're on the home stretch now. Pregnant at Christmas is draining! Trying to get through the crowds with a bump in the way has been chellging.

AvoidingMarking · 10/12/2018 20:17

@detachablehoof just throwing this out there- breast feeding burns more calories and for the first few months causes your uterus to contract and shrink back to pre pregnancy size.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 10/12/2018 20:21

@AvoidingMarking I was going to add that, getting my figure back is one of the big reasons I want to breastfeed! 😂

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 10/12/2018 20:30

Also on breastfeeding for calorie burn train! Also looking at buying a belly bandit and their leggings just to help a bit more.

Since2016 · 10/12/2018 20:56

Belly bandit I would recommend defintely. And yes to BF for weight loss. I ate like a monster but still lost weight 🤣 intending to do the same this time but each to their own. Personally I can’t be doing with the Fannying with bottles although I’m hoping this one will at least take expressed milk in one occasionally...

AvoidingMarking · 10/12/2018 21:00

I found I was back in my normal jeans quicker than my formula feeding friends last time. Praying it's the same next time. I just need to stop eating cake when I stop feeding this time!

I'm looking forward to the early days where you can actually feel your stomach shrinking when you feed.

I think I will express more this time though. Last time my daughter took a bottle at 6 weeks no problem but by the time I tried again at 5 months she wouldn't have anything to do with it- unsurprisingly

AvoidingMarking · 10/12/2018 21:00

Never heard of a belly bandit!

sickmumma · 10/12/2018 21:05

I am also not finishing until 23rd Jan! I will be 35 weeks then!! Seems still like ages away but I work in a nursery so only have one more week until we break up for Christmas then a couple of weeks the other side of Xmas as I won't be back until around the 10th!

@Lookingforadvice123 I have three children already - induced and has episiotomy with my first child, thought about a water birth with second but was coping well on the birthing ball so just carried on, I did tear. Had a water birth with my last child and actually birthed her in the water- went really well however I did tear a little (only because she came with a hand up by her head midwife said had it not been for this I would have been fine!) I don't remember lots of blood etc in the pool tbh! We got out pretty soon after, if anything I felt cleaner as everything had washed off and I had a shower after stitches anyway but always had a shower with the others. The crowning bit was definitely much more manageable in the pool for me and I will be looking to do it again this time.

In regards to breastfeeding I started off well with my other three but between 2-3 months we gradually went onto formula which I think I would do again this time.

Celebelly · 10/12/2018 21:13

I'm really hoping to breastfeed so I hope it all goes smoothly (the calorie burning is a slight incentive Grin). I'm fortunate that DP will be around all the time for the first month and will do all cooking/cleaning etc so I just have to sleep and feed for the first few weeks! I'd like to express eventually though so DP can start to do the odd night feed as he's a night owl who also only needs about five hours sleep a night and copes with sleeplessness way better than me 😬😬😬

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 10/12/2018 21:15

I'm finishing on Jan 25th when I turn 37 weeks! Just couldn't face leaving any sooner.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 10/12/2018 21:16

I found out about Belly bandit after my daughter was born. A mum at a baby group had a similar belly wrap to help support her tummy and reduce waist after her c section.

Since2016 · 10/12/2018 21:27

My mat leave starts at 35 weeks but annual leave from Christmas Eve. I may go back for a week or two but no later than the 17th when I’ll be 36 weeks. It would only be two additional weeks at work anyway but it’s the commute I hate! Need to wait and see what they say about a section date too as I have done literally nothing... at some point I have to send DH into the loft!

Yakadee · 10/12/2018 21:50

Are the belly bandits really good then? Never considered it before (never really thought about it) but I'm having a section this time so you've got me thinking x

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 10/12/2018 21:54

I’m working up to 38 weeks (all going well), which will be the end of January.

Off to google belly bandits!

Fiep · 10/12/2018 22:18

Place marking! Fell off the MN bandwagon for a while, hope everyone is doing well :)
32 weeks today!

Since2016 · 10/12/2018 22:23

I found mine really helped, particularly post section and a v big baby. Will be using it again this time for sure!

Camsie30 · 10/12/2018 22:29

If its helpful I'm happy to share my birth preferences from my first birth (I prefer "preferences" to plan as it feels more flexible). Its quite specific to hypnobirthing, but lays out all of the things to think about... x

Surprisedmom · 10/12/2018 22:36

I have 9 more days of work left as i’m finishing at Christmas. I’ll only be 32 weeks but as I’m a teacher i’d be nearly 35 weeks by the time school starts up again in January and as i’m supply I don’t get any pay over Christmas so decided to start my mat allowance so I at least had some money coming in. Honestly though I can’t wait to stop work as I hate the school i’m doing supply in and the commute is also horrid.
