@melissa112 I've had a few incidences of things that could potentially cause problems for the baby, but I think actual risks are so low for many things and a lot of it is over cautious advice, particularly now we are past the first trimester.
When I was very newly pregnant, so a key phase of development for the baby, I was using iodine to clean an injury on my horse's leg twice a day. No gloves, no mask, I just didn't think. I now know it can apparently cause thyroid problems in adults, let alone a developing foetus. I phoned 111 when it occurred to me that actually I was pregnant and this kind of thing probably wasn't very sensible. DH was furious with me for being cavalier (as he saw it), the doctor on 111 gave me the biggest bollocking I've ever had and referred me for an urgent blood test. I was in a total state. Got to my GP who was very reassuring, a bit perplexed by the state I'd gotten myself in about it and said "Well, we'll do the blood test, but I really think you'll both be fine." Sure enough, no problems at all.
This weekend DH has painted the nursery and we bought a mattress for the cot, which also smells funny. I've just been opening the windows when I'm home and limiting my time in the room. It'll be fine in a day or so. I doubt very much that you will have caused any harm whatsoever. If you're concerned then maybe call the community midwife tomorrow? They might be able to offer some reassurance? I have dreadful anxiety and will obsess over these things and Google myself into a total state of paranoia. Somtimes, I find expressing my concerns and getting a bit of reassurance from a professional can really help and stops me from getting into that negative thought spiral.
