Lovely scan pics @ballanj

Good luck tomorrow @Jadeelx

Thanks @Melissa112 putting off going to bed so tomorrow doesn't come around so quickly 😂

I thought I'd popped a bit but def popped more this week again. Also ordered maternity trousers for work to collect in Next today and drove straight past the shopping centre I'd forgotten! Going to have to make do with stretchy non maternity trousers for tomorrow!

Yep definitely cellular blankets to start with - your baby may or may not like swaddling. If it's the latter they may struggle with sleeping bags when they are first big enough too. One of my friends wasn't able to use them until baby was 6 months old as they just wouldn't sleep if they couldn't kick.

And when it comes to outfits that aren't vests or sleep suits you may find they are more hassle than they are worth. You may find you really like it but when you are changing their clothes after the 3rd poonami of the day the idea of struggling them into anything other than the basics is unlikely to appeal to most!

I would also so definitely for some kind of change mat, it is the table that is optional as it won't be much use once they can move! We used puppy/incontinence pads on the bed or floor. Whilst not the most environmentally friendly option it definitely saved a lot of stress and worry on the days when the mat got covered.

Not all babies like soft toys (as we found out to our detriment.... We have a whole top of a 4x4 kallax and DS might have cuddled 2 ever....) so don't go mad on them!

Other thing that is handy is flop flops for hospital if you want to have a shower... And pack a trek towel for both of you - so handy as they pack up small and dry super quickly (we also used DSs as a travel change mat as it just went in the wash but that was just laziness really!)
Oh and a portable battery charger - if your hospital doesn't allow partners to stay overnight and you are stuck you will want to have the chance to keep contact. Worth packing your charger lead too as you may find there is a handy plug socket!

Whoops posted too soon! 24+1 here and looking forward to our 4D scan this month! Has anyone else booked one yet, or are thinking of doing so?

Hi just checking in.
@melissa112 my little one seems to have quiet days a bit at the moment too. I am 21+3 today. With an anterior placenta. So the midwives and sonographers have been really clear that movements will come and go.
We had our scan on Thursday and little one was measuring really well or slightly ahead on all the measures, which felt really good for us. For me it shows that at the moment my placenta is doing well.
Thanks for the lists, those are really helpful. I'm in Scotland and we get the baby box, so even if we don't use the box itself it comes packed with loads of useful things (brush, bath thermometer etc) so we will just need to fill in the missing bits.

HidCat · 05/11/2018 07:32

Thanks for the new thread @Angelmiracle!

@rachieachie oh hun that sucks. It's horrible when the sickness lasts longer than expected. As for the shopping we had a lot of stuff from DS1 so I haven't had to buy much but I have started buying. I'm now stopping myself buying much until after Christmas but we have all the bug stuff so it's not a problem. Could you do an Amazon Wish list or something similar in the mean time?

@Gronk27 that autocorrect did make me giggle!

Oh and if you ask for a water birth you will probably be asked to take a sieve

wordsmithereens · 05/11/2018 10:08

Soda crystals are great, I use them on a semi regular basis now to keep drains running (although usually without the vinegar afterwards!).

I've had an annoying cold all week, but it's slowly getting better. Baby is definitely more/less active on some days than others - feels like she has party days and then exhausts herself and needs to rest for a few. XD

cardboard33 · 05/11/2018 10:30

@assumeitwassomethingclever I've put on just under a stone, I reckon, if it makes you feel any better. I didn't have any sickness at all and have been eating v healthily, I think it just depends on your build/metabolism as well. My BMI was classed as "underweight" when I started out but I've always been like that (so is my mum) so I just think I perhaps need to put on more weight than others who already have it? I think as long as you're not over eating and eating junk constant (honeymoon is excluded naturally!) then it's fine, particularly if it increases at a gradual rate. I haven't paid any attention to how much I weigh in my life before (I only know how much I weighed before as we recorded it) so I have zero intention of doing it now.

I have what I consider to be a large bump now (as my tummy has always been completely flat) but most other people haven't really noticed that I've put on weight/are surprised when I tell them how far I am, so I think everyone is different. I wouldn't worry!

MrsSax · 05/11/2018 15:17

Hi all, joining after lurking for a few weeks. Due 3rd March with a boy, also have a little boy who was 3 last week. Is there a Facebook group set up I can join? X

Murphyrocks · 05/11/2018 15:54

@Kee80 yes it's a secret group, I'll drop you a message...

Kee80 · 05/11/2018 16:24

Gronk27 · 05/11/2018 16:43

I'm really freaking out Sad came across a thread on here posted recently about buying a new sofa and best ones to avoid chemical smells due to Fire Retardant. We've had our new fabric sofa just over a week and never even thought about the chemicals it is letting off. Apparently it's called off gassing. The sofa does have a smell but just put it down to 'new sofa smell' and never really thought about what was causing it.

After googling it does seem there is some evidence between new furniture and the VOCs being released (didn't even realise there would be any) and risk to baby.

In the past week and half OH has painted the living room using low VOC water based paint and resealed round the bath. If that wasn't enough to worry me, I'm not really paranoid about the sofa. As we're both at work all day we can't leave the windows open. So worried I've harmed the baby. I've only ever wanted to do my best by him but seems I keep inadvertently putting him in harms way Sad

melissa112 · 05/11/2018 18:35

Now really paranoid** not 'not'
