Has anyone else had to stop wearing their rings because their fingers are too swollen? I've been getting carpel tunnel symptoms in them too.

Angelmiracle · 09/01/2019 10:28

I've been keeping an eye on this @LittleKitty1985 I nearly couldn't get rings off at 37 weeks with DS. I'm 28+3 now and they're fitting so far. I had carpel tunnel in right wrist with him too it is not pleasant!

@LittleKitty1985 yes, I'm 32 weeks now, but mine had to come off weeks ago. I did test the water to see if I could get them on today but no such luck. I've never had delicate hands but now they look like I've got sausages stuck to them!

Gronk27 · 09/01/2019 10:41

@badbadbeans @cardboard33 thanks for your thoughts. I just wonder what it’s going to be like with a small baby and like you both say it could be fine or not so fine! OH is going to talk to the bride today anyway, she knows I’m pregnant and she’s a Mum. I just don’t see how we can commit so he’s going to say we won’t know so are you happy to chance it, do you have anyone you can bump or we’re happy to just decline if it’s hassle for them and they needed a definite answer. And whether the baby would be welcome if all is going swimmingly.

HidCat · 09/01/2019 16:08

@Gronk27 it's doable but be prepared for an early exit just in case. My nephew was 3 weeks old at his uncle and aunts wedding and everything went smoothly but it's impossible to judge in advance. I had a guest at my wedding with a young baby who brought her Mum along and she sat out in the bar in case baby needed to go out of the reception. When I found out I dragged her in to have some food and told them not to be so daft, but we had a baby friendly wedding. I just wish she'd said something in advance rather than felt like she needed to make extra arrangements.

melissa112 · 09/01/2019 16:41

@VillageFete I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. What an awful thing for everyone involved. Please look after yourself xx

@Badbadbeans i did end up having the salad at the restaurant the other day which sounds so silly, but I was quite proud of myself! And thoroughly enjoyed it!

@Gronk27 I think that's a good idea to ask bride whether it's ok to let her know once baby is here and you know if you're feeling up to or giving her the option of you declining if that isn't possible. It's hard to judge isn't it without having baby here already.

I'm another finding the movements quite painful now. They don't seem to really be kicks as much anymore, although they are the most painful, more pushes where I can see his back/bum coming out of my belly. I get a shooting pain in my back when he does the big movements.

I had my first appointment today with the MH team about my anxiety. I have to have an appointment each week and do an online course (they thought an in person course would be harder due to fear of germs/contact with potential 'hazards') so online suits better. I'm feeling a bit more positive. Had to go up to hospital yesterday referred by the midwife at my 31wk appointment as baby's heart rate was between 170-180 for a good while, even after I sat outside for a bit. Luckily once I got to hospital they were happy with his movements/heart rate and he seemed to have settled back down so they sent me back home.

For those who are using the pram carrycot for daytime naps, do you get a stand for it? Use the pram? Or put the carry cot on the floor? We have a Snuzpod for upstairs but not to use as a next to me. I'm debating whether to get a Moses basket for the lounge, use the pram carrycot (although wouldn't want pram frame in living room), or carry Snuzpod up and down each day...

SquirtlesMumAgain · 09/01/2019 16:56

I wouldn't struggle with carrying something up and downstairs if you don't have to. We lived in a bungalow last time and it was annoying enough having to carry the moses basket the 10m from front to back!!

Now we have a house and I'm not 100% what we are going to do really. Our pram carrycot isn't a firm base one so not an option without the frame, and I definitely don't want muddy wheels on the carpet....
Will work something out!

WhatALearningCurve · 09/01/2019 17:08

@melissa112 I'm considering a Moses basket. There's one in the Aldi baby event that I'm going to have a look at I think. (My back up is that some of my lovely friends club together to get me a sleepyhead haha!

Gronk27 · 09/01/2019 17:08

@littlekitty1985 mine came off at Christmas they’re on a chain around my neck! I’m 31 weeks today.

@melissa112 so glad you’ve got some appointments and you’re feeling a bit better.

Had a pregnancy massage yesterday, it was amazing.

cardboard33 · 09/01/2019 17:43

@melissa112 so happy to see your post. How did you feel after the appointment? And also well done for eating the salad, as that was a big deal for you. And presumably you've survived to tell the tale? Smile

I am just planning on putting the carry cot on the floor/table. It has a hard base so should be ok and it's not like I'm going to put it in a puddle where baby can get wet. Genuinely had not thought about this until now. We don't want to get a moses basket as we've heard they grow out of them really fast and there's potentially a travel cot coming from one of my colleagues but until we see the promise delivered it feels like the kind of thing that people say but don't follow through, knowing the people involved.

Gronk27 · 09/01/2019 18:02

Also has anyone else got baby brain? I am forgetting so much. Getting really annoyed with myself. It took 3 attempts to send my MA forms off today. Forgot a page, then left it in the car when I went to the post office! Had to take my Nan for a blood test, took her some leftovers and forgot to give them to her. I am useless at the mo.

melissa112 · 09/01/2019 18:18

@cardboard33 I felt quite positive after the appointment. They said they definitely think they can help me and help me interrupt the thought processes that lead me to think I absolutely need to do something (I.e. wash hands 5 times when one would do). They debated between the health anxiety and OCD course but said the therapist will tailor it as we go along. It feels good to have taken the first steps. Haha yes still here after eating the spinach! Hope your colleagues follow through with the travel cot Smile

I think I'm going to have a look at the Moses basket in aldi too, failing that it will probably be the pram carrycot as lugging something up and downstairs each day sounds like a pain already..

ballanj · 09/01/2019 18:21

@Gronk27 I've got complete baby brain. The worse I've had so far happened on Friday where I went to the cash machine at the train station, took my card but left my £50 sticking out of the machine. I was completely oblivious to two women calling after me as I walked away. Fortunately a very kind gentleman ran through the station after me and called me back. Luckily my money was still there. I never do things like that so I'm definitely putting down to baby brain! I don't trust my memory much at the moment!

Gronk27 · 09/01/2019 18:38

@ballanj thank goodness for kind people. Glad it’s not just me!

babycatcher411 · 09/01/2019 18:48

Our plan is to use the pushchair carrycot for downstairs, but I hadn’t really thought to much about where we would put it. The kitchen layout doesn’t lend itself well to having the pushing inside full time, and not have the potentially mucky wheels on the carpet. So really do need to look into options for maybe a stand as not sold on it being on the floor.

babycatcher411 · 09/01/2019 18:51

—pushing— pushchair

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 09/01/2019 20:00

@Gronk27 I've got baby brain too! It's really frustrating. I'm making stupid mistakes at work. Customers start reading off their spec to me and half way through I've forgotten what they've said and have to ask them about 3 times!!
I also poured the boiled kettle into the tea caddy rather than my mug yesterday.... honestly, I'm loosing my mind!

Sictransitgloria · 09/01/2019 20:11

Yes to baby brain! I left the dog in the cold this eveing for 20 mins as I completely forgot he was in the garden 😂 poor sod was pressed against the door waiting to be let in!

@melissa112 great news you're getting help with anxiety!!
I used carrycot with wheels for DS but no longer have the wheels. Could easily set it on dining table or corner sofa in the early stages.

My sister is flying home before EDD and said she'll leave her sleepyhead with me - we will see!

For £20 or so in Asda etc I'd happily get a moses basket for the first couple of months if need be.

I've had baby brain for months now - like actual blank moments that sometimes don't come back to me 🙊

I left £70 in cash machine 37 weeks with DS @ballanj It was gone by time I'd realised but apparently went back into machine. I filled a form out for my bank who luckily refunded it!
