@Celebelly I’m only one day earlier following my dating scan than I was from LMP though so the same reasoning applies to a degree. I get we usually measure in weeks and obviously accept nhs guidelines / measurements but the fact is I am now than 2/3 of the way through by end of this week which is nice

Alicejj8x · 07/11/2018 15:03

I get so confused about this whole how many months I am ahah I always would say weeks rather than months 😂😂

Notquiteagandt · 07/11/2018 15:13

@@Alicejj8x ah the one I am doing is the signature antenatal course. Lucky you though with a freebie. What a bargain.

Is anyone doing daisy foundation classes? I really wanted to try them for the hypnobirthing or theres an indie that does something simular too.

But tbh at the moment how I am feeling cant really commit. But I really wanted to give that a go too.

Being stuck in though does mean plenty of time to watch all the past episodes of one born every minute 😬

Is anyone watching Emma Willis' show also?

Alicejj8x · 07/11/2018 15:25

@Notquiteagandt
I duno how I got it tbh but after our Conversation this morning I emailed the course lady and she said it was free so I guess some
Offer some and maybe it's not as in-depth as the ones you pay for?

It looks like it covers a lot of the topics tbh it may not be usual for me at all but I'm more going for the other half 😂😂

Baby160P · 07/11/2018 15:39

@Alicejj8x I go by weeks too as you're not technically pregnant for 9 months so I just get in a muddle!

@Notquiteagandt I watch Emma Willis. Brings me to tears every week! ❤️

Notquiteagandt · 07/11/2018 15:49

@Baby160P snap 😢 im very much in the camp of id rather see everything good and bad. Mentally prepare myself for the worse possible situation. In the hope that wont happen and will feel a breeze in comparison. Nievity or a good idea I dont know 😂😂😂

@Alicejj8x I used to work quite closely with the nct. We used to play a game amongst ourselves when everyone was going in who would be the 1st dad to come out for a breather. There was always one with out fail that would turn green. Used to make a joke of it to try and make them feel better. Plus the nagic medicine of lots of biscuits and sugary tea.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 07/11/2018 16:40

Mothercare have reduced some prices on their maternity clothes if anyone is in need. Some jeans are around £10 now.

AliceRR · 07/11/2018 16:44

I count in weeks too. I think most people probably do 🤔

Baby160P · 07/11/2018 17:25

@Notquiteagandt I'm exactly the same! Rather go in aware than panic!

Although I'm almost certain I'd be the one passing out like Emma did after I went funny looking at the tiny amount of blood and the 2 holes in my arm after my GTT 🙈😂

welshweasel · 07/11/2018 17:42

@alicejj8x NCT bumps and beyond isn’t a course, it’s a weekly/fortnightly group in most areas that you can go to as a bump, with your baby and often up to toddler. The ones I’ve been to certainly haven’t included antenatal stuff so you might want to check!

Alicejj8x · 07/11/2018 19:04

@welshweasel it's so confusing lol this is the break down
Of the course and then I have a NCT course the weekend after which says NCT signature course

So I'm not too sure what's going on lol but there free so I'll take them

And @Baby160P it's just so much easier to say weeks for sure lol

Alicejj8x · 07/11/2018 19:05

@welshweasel first one too blurry in my email it specially stated no children so I don't think this is a course for parents and toddlers too attend x

welshweasel · 07/11/2018 19:23

That definitely isn’t the thing I’m on about!! Amazing you can get it for free. There’s nothing free round here and I can’t see myself sitting through NCT again just to make some friends. I am worried about being lonely though as we’ve moved since I had my first so don’t know anyone pregnant round here. Hoping some of the girls from my yoga group might be up for staying in touch.

Alicejj8x · 07/11/2018 19:33

@welshweasel
Ahah I'm so confused I'll just turn up and see what it's like 😂😂

Ahh is there any local toddler groups you can go too if you like that sort of thing?
Hopefully your yoga ladies will stay in touch xx

Lookingforadvice123 · 07/11/2018 20:14

I love Emma Willis' show! I sobbed in episode 2 when the premature twins were born and one of them didn't cry for ages!

notasgreenascabbagelooking I'm like you, the idea of NCT makes me cringe a bit, as much as I know it's great for some people especially who know no one in the area. The forced friendship thing just isn't for me, nor DH! I met a lovely friend in pregnancy yoga last time and prefer to meet people in fitness classes as it's an interest of mine anyway. I'm lucky though in that both times I've known people who are pregnant at the same time - not from my group of closest friends, but lovely girls I know through various avenues. Plus I'm wondering how much time I'll have with DS who'll be over 3 in tow a lot of the time too!

I'm getting quite nervy about the idea of giving birth again, do any other second time mums feel that way? Watching Emma Willis has brought back a lot...!

MrsY87 · 07/11/2018 20:50

I did a 2nd,3rd time + mums group last time, not NCT, but a local one in my area and it was great. 3 of us who met on it have become really close which is lovely as our older kids are also similar ages. I've signed up to the NCT refresher this time purely to meet some other people having a babies around the same time, I've found it great to have that support both times previously.

@Lookingforadvice123 OMG the prem twin delivery had me blubbing so much, in fact I've cried at pretty much every birth! I love the fact that the programme has shown such a diverse range of births, not just screaming ones!

Lulabell1 · 07/11/2018 21:51

@lookingfor Yes very nervy I think its worse this time because we no what we are expecting I was a lot more calm because I had no idea what was coming my way

emalady · 07/11/2018 22:08

Sorry can't remember who asked about the daisy courses, they don't have any convenient for me but I'm really interested in the hypnobirthing /relaxation stuff as I know what can go wrong, we are having a couple of private sessions with an ex midwife who is teaches hypnobirthing and yoga, really looking forward to it.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 07/11/2018 22:54

I watch OBEM, but I can’t bring myself to watch the Emma Willis one. As much as I like her as a presenter... I loathe the way TV has to shoehorn a celebrity into everything, as if it’s the only way to make a programme appealing to the dumbed down masses.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I actually have never really watched a labour before though, despite this being my third baby. I just decided I never needed to see it from that view.. as I’d be the one doing it, not viewing it. I was fully informed though via other methods, so was completely prepared.

I feel a bit blasé about labour this time round, I’m kind of convinced it’ll be fairly easy! I’m sure reality will slap me quite hard in time 😂😂

lanalawr · 07/11/2018 23:24

I'm also less worried about labour this time. I assume it's because I had a really good experience last time (I said pretty much as soon as DD was born that I'd happily do it again). That might backfire a bit if this one is totally different. My concerns are around feeding this time. I'd like to bf but had a bad time of it with DD (mixed/ff from four days on midwife's advice) and am worried that the same will happen again.

My July 2016 group had a few crafty ladies in it who were knitting/crocheting/building/carving items for their babies. Is anyone here making anything? I'm trying to do a blanket as I've not long taught myself to crochet but have just run out of wool and it looks like the one I'm using has been discontinued.

Yakadee · 08/11/2018 06:29

I was another one who decided not knowing was best, I had an idea of course but decided to just try go with the flow.

I actually really didn't have a good first labour, so much so I'm (hoping) opting for a section this time. I have however heard loads of good labour stories which I'm sure the majority of people experience.

We've finally started sorting out the babies room. My son is still in his cot bed so it's a bit of a switch job so trying to sort both rooms out in the next few weeks. It's been really nice looking at decorations and my husband is throwing himself into it which is cute.

Anyone else think it's flying by? My first pregnancy really seemed to drag but I'm already neatly 28 weeks!! X

Lookingforadvice123 · 08/11/2018 06:43

Yakaxee yep absolutely flying! We are doing the same with decorating and furnishing a new room top to bottom for DS to move in to. Plastering, carpets, painting, the lot

My first labour and birth was so hard! It was textbook in that I didn't need intervention or pain relief (other than TENS and G&A) but it was back to back, very very long, and nothing could've prepared me for how painful it was. Safe to say I felt traumatised for a few days! Can't believe I have to do it again, although I'm really hoping it'll be much quicker this time - although that's part of the worry, 5-10cm in an hour with DS so I'm also worried I'll end up having the baby in the car park!

Yakadee · 08/11/2018 06:52

I know, good job these babies are worth it 😍

Unfortunately I did have to have intervention, all started when an induction and lead to a room full of people, forceps and a lot of blood lost.

It was an awful experience but would do it a million times to get my son!

I think I'm just as excited to decorate his room too. He's going to be so excited. We're going to make him a little den area for books and a few toys - he'll love it! X

twiglet · 08/11/2018 07:42

I've not really looked into any of it TBH I started then found out about low lying placenta so decided no point until my 34 week scan. I'm sure if it's moved then it will hit me like a train I did originally want a water birth.

We are still mid house renovations, so still living upstairs apart from the kitchen. Very fed up with it all now but it's going to be at least 3 more weeks. Thankfully one supplier came forward by a month. I just want my house back and no workmen!

emalady · 08/11/2018 08:17

@twiglet we are only doing the kitchen /dining room but I am bored of the workmen. Had a week off to rest and sort out the nursery but have to be up and dressed by 8 as the guys arrive then for the kitchen.
