Mine is 8.45 a week Thursday. I thought that was the earliest locally. Going to feel quite late to eat by 10.45 luckily there is a shop close by so can send DH for snacks when I have the second blood test.

Surprisedmom · 05/11/2018 17:44

@Eyedontknow one of the ladies at my pregnancy yoga is a midwife, she said not getting enough air is a big cause of cramp in pregnancy so something as simple as keeping the bedroom door open (or window a jar) helps reduce it. I imagine the same applies during the day in offices. My yoga instructor also suggested some exercises that were good for cramp - i’ve forgotten them but you could google some i’m sure.

@Powkin I know what you mean, I haven’t full on panicked but I definitely have reached a scary realisation that I really am doing this now that i’m 6 months gone.

powkin · 05/11/2018 18:00

@pushit @surprisedmom - thanks for the replies - good to know I’m not alone.

Have had horrible day today with nasty and very very frightening verbal abuse on the phone at work so feeling a bit fragile today. Only an hour to go!

DeliberatelyGinger · 05/11/2018 19:49

Hang up @Powkin! You don't have to listen to that!

twiglet · 05/11/2018 20:08

Anyone got tips for heartburn?
I've already taken 2 quick acting gaviscon sat fully upright nothing is easing it Confused

Surprisedmom · 05/11/2018 20:35

@twiglet i’ve been taking Rennie’s chewables (often before a meal as that helps). I’m taking it because I get terrible trapped air under my ribs, but it’s supposed to work for heartburn too so might be worth a try.

powkin · 05/11/2018 20:35

@DeliberatelyGinger I did... eventually, but it was such a shock it took me quite a while to do so. I was quite paralysed by fear to be honest. We aren’t expected to deal with any abuse but sometimes people who are bristly or frustrated with services calm down very quickly once they know you are listening and want to help - I’ve dealt with angry people plenty of times but in 15 years of working on helplines and telephone based services that is the worst abuse I’ve ever experienced. Apparently they were totally fine when they spoke to someone else a few days ago, and they’ve used our service in the past, so think that might have played into me not hanging up sooner. But mainly sheer paralysing terror. Amazing to be so scared on the phone, if they’d been in front of me
I’d have been scared for my life.

AliceRR · 05/11/2018 20:54

I have my GTT tomorrow and just went to find my notes (they are always in a certain drawer) to find they’re not there!

I had them at a midwife appointment on 1 November so I can call them and get th but not by my appointment tomorrow.

The surgery is near my house while the appointment is at the hospital at 8:35. I have to leave the house at about 7:30 to get to my appointment but my surgery won’t open until 8:30. I don’t even know my surgery has them but I don’t know where else they could be.

Do you think I’m ok going to my appointment and then hopefully getting my notes later?

I suppose if they won’t do it without my notes I’ll just have to rearrange anyway.

Luckily I took a photo on my phone of the appointment details so I know the instructions - no food after midnight except water...

So annoying. I hope they’re not completely lost as I don’t think anything is sorted elsewhere

DeliberatelyGinger · 05/11/2018 20:59

@powkin Did you report it to your supervisor? I've had the police round once because someone asked me the colour of my under wear and I wasn't even worried. I just wanted to make sure he didn't get through to a younger more vulnerable member of staff. They should definitely take your call seriously.

Surprisedmom · 05/11/2018 21:31

@AliceRR you’ll probably be fine, I forgot mine for my 20week scan and they just printed my results for me and told me to put them in my book when I was home.

AliceRR · 05/11/2018 21:34

Thanks @surprisedmom Hopefully I can get them back!

Baby160P · 05/11/2018 22:24

@AliceRR do you mean the blood test slip?

I'm sure that'll be all you need.

I actually was reprinted one from a midwife at the hospital who got onto the system with just my name as she said the midwife who gave me the forms were the wrong one so I'm sure you can just ask?

AliceRR · 05/11/2018 22:44

@Baby160P All I have is the info sheet. Hopefully it will be ok and if they really do have to rearrange then it’s not too bad as the hospital is very near my work

I’m just hoping my notes are at the gp surgery as you’d think they might have called me?!

emalady · 06/11/2018 06:59

@Alicerr I would have thought they would call but definitely worth checking anyway. I hope you get them back soon. It should be fine to do the test without them though.

powkin · 06/11/2018 10:55

@Surprisedmom yes all dealt with at work, perhaps not quite how I would have liked, but they were told in no uncertain terms that if he ever speaks like that to a staff member again he will be barred from coming to or contacting our service, I just wish there didn't have to be an 'again'. It felt a little like because they've been able to talk to other people more reasonably in the past, that somehow it makes it more 'excusable' this time (it's not quite the word I'm looking for but it's the best I can come up with). I'm sure my pregnancy didn't come into it on one level, but on another I wonder if people think I'm more sensitive or less able to manage the situation, but in terms of people in my organisation as a whole I think I'd be in the top 10% of being able to 'handle' that sort of abuse, so what happens if/when he turns up and turns on the sweet part time receptionist? She'd honestly never come to work again.

Sometimes, because we are a mental health charity, there's a desire to give people lots of chances. Most of the time I would 100% agree that everyone deserves a second chance but on this occassion I really don't. The idea that someone else needs to experience that level of abuse really upsets me.

fizzledays · 06/11/2018 12:37

Having a bit of a freak out today. I don't know why but I got up this morning to get in the shower, looked down and just went "holy crap". I think I've grown quite a lot in the last 10 days or so, bump is definitely more solid as well now (coming up 26 weeks), back is sore and I'm just a bit like "omg this is actually happening".

Anyone else have moments like these?? I'm dreading third trimester if I'm already this uncomfortable! Saw osteopath at weekend, I so pregnancy yoga once a week and do bits during week outside of the class, I'm active walking our 4 month pup... 😩

Squashbanana1 · 06/11/2018 13:02

Hi ladies, hope you all are well and nice to hear your updates from the GTT year I have my mini one in a few weeks.
Just wondering if you all have booked onto antenatal classes yet? I planned to do the hospital ones but I hadn't been told how to do it! Or when etc. I rang up today and apparently they are sending me something to do it online, do you think they'll all be quite booked up now?! Hmm

Surprisedmom · 06/11/2018 13:07

@Powkin, I really hope there is no next time for anyone but I agree that sadly there is often a tendency to forgive such behaviour too easily. As a school teacher i’ve worked in a number of schools and sometimes been shocked at the level of abuse (of staff/other students) that schools will permit. I’ve had to argue before for a kid to be excluded for strangling another child (you would have though exclusion was an absolute minimum for that!) and only yesterday I reported a child for racist remarks but i’m on supply and I don’t think the school will do anything about it.

@fizzledays I think it’s totally normal to feel like that. I usually smile at the sight of my bump but have definitely had a few ‘god i’m huge and uncomfortable’ moments too.

powkin · 06/11/2018 13:17

I was told to book hospital ones do after my 12 week scan @Squashbanana1 - maybe call your maternity helpline?
I’m booked into hospital ones before Xmas and some slightly cringe inducing London metropolitan elite ones in January (Bump & Baby Club) - those are just two days over two weekends. We wanted to maximise our chances of meeting people and to get the hospital specific advice and a slightly different perspective from another source. The B&BC ones also have a post baby meet up which is nice.

hayley013 · 06/11/2018 15:50

@fizzledays I definitely have moments like that, and think wtf 😂 I found third tri tough last time round, just heavy, tiring and impatient. I've definitely sprouted lots in the last two weeks, I'm 25+4 today and aching a lot.

@Squashbanana1we're not doing antenatal this time, found it a waste of time, they pretty much just showed us some really outdated videos 😂

I have the GTT next Wednesday, not particularly looking forward to it but never mind. Had my 26 week check today and all was good, baby is transverse but plenty time for her to move round.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 06/11/2018 16:05

@hayley013 I'm also not bothering with antenatal classes. Didn't with my first as they seemed pointless and managed fine.

Eyedontknow · 06/11/2018 16:41

@Yakadee and @DeliberatelyGinger good to know it's not just me at least. I'm on my feet all day at work, so may just be due to that. @Surprisedmom I'm already sleeping with windows open as I'm always hot, and I drink what I feel is loads of water, but I should try looking for stretches. I'm doing pregnancy yoga too, so I'll mention it to the instructor this week and see what she suggests.

Is everyone supposed to have this GTT or do you all have reasons for having it done? My midwife hasn't even mentioned it Hmm

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 06/11/2018 16:43

I don't think you have to have GTT done. I did in my first pregnancy after being unwell but midwife hasn't mentioned it at all this time.

Notquiteagandt · 06/11/2018 16:54

@Eyedontknow for my gtt (yet to get a date for!) When I was booking in they had a long list of things and if you ticked more than 3 of the boxes you where criteria for it. Certainly not standard. So wouldnt worry you obvs dont fit the criteria.

Mine was due to family history, low bmi and meds I am on.

AliceRR · 06/11/2018 18:04

@Eyedontknow I think GTT is based on risk factors especially where I am from eg weight, ethnicity, previous issues...

I had my GTT this morning and I called my HR department almost in tears this afternoon as I have so much to do at work. I’ve told my manager and said I can’t take any more but he is a way and a slightly bolshy colleague is assigning work in his absence. Despite me saying I don’t have capacity I have her emailing me and when I say I’m busy she basically says “sorry it’s your turn”... I. MUST. NOT. RANT. AGAIN.
