Checking in.

I’m 14+2 and don’t feel pregnant any more? I mean, i’m tired and i’m run down, and i’ve clearly out weight on/have a bit of a bump, but how do I know everything is ok? When will I feel movement?

Absolutely obsessing with knowing my baby’s sex, I cannot wait! I have two clear scans showing nub and one shows girl and one shows boy Grin Maybe baby can’t make its mind up?

Angelmiracle · 29/09/2018 19:29

@toastfiend @Jenlou1992 I have also been breathless since I got my BFP some days worse than others and mostly going up hills and stairs. Really struggled taking bin up our stoney lane on Thurs!

@toastfiend also with the headaches! Migraine woke me at 1am other night paracetamol does not shift it. Hope it settles soon. Comes on at night mostly.

Checking in! Thread 6 already ShockοΏΌ

Also had my flu jab today @SquirtlesMumAgain, how is your arm doing? Mine's a little achey but I was expecting worse!

NotDoingThat · 29/09/2018 20:41

@Murphyrocks I'm 18w tomorrow too- due date buddies! Glad to hear the aches and pains will wear off- I plan to spend as much time as possible in the bath till then!

I'm sorry I don't know anything about anti d but I do know I'm always proved wrong when I don't trust the doctors -though I'd be feeling the same as you right now (and did when I was told my thyroid problem was low risk!). Trust them xx

NotDoingThat · 29/09/2018 20:50

@wordsmithereens (Sorry, just connected who you were after I saw your post on the group, am awful matching the mumsnet/RL names in my head.)

Ooh is there a FB group?

Murphyrocks · 29/09/2018 21:00

@notdoingthat yes there's a Facebook group! I'm an admin - drop me a message with your rl name and description of your profile pic and I'll get you added.

Wow thread 6!

@Villagefete I’ve been thinking constantly about what we’re having and trying to work it out. Hit 16 weeks today so treated myself to a gender scan. We’re having a girl. That was what the Chinese calendar thing had predicted so that’s been right with both of mine.

Elizabeth134 · 30/09/2018 08:31

Checking in! Wow Thread 6.

Who was asking about Anti D?
I had a bleed at 13.2 weeks and then again at 15 weeks. They are not sure what is causing it but they gave me anti D as a precaution on Friday. It stung a bit and was in my bum but after about 15 mins stopped. My arm actually hurt more from all the blood they took!

They did a scan to check placenta and saw a very wiggly baby measuring slightly big (head circumference) so hopeful the bleeding will stop soon ish!

Easy to panic about every little thing but the doctor and midwife kept saying getting past the 12 week mark made the chances so slight you can’t spend the pregnancy thinking about the tiny possibilities of a bad outcome.

Angelmiracle · 30/09/2018 08:47

@Elizabeth134 That must be stressful alright I hope it stops soon for you! I'm glad the Dr and midwife both reassured you and you were able to see baby is ok.

I'm dosed up with the cold can't breathe through my nose. Olbas children helped a bit. Would love some throat spray too but making do with hot water and lemon instead... the joys 🀧

Elizabeth134 · 30/09/2018 08:52

@angelmiracle oh no feel better soon. Have you tried steam inhaler type thing? I’m taking the first defence nasal spray as i’m Susceptible to colds anyway and GP said was safe. Maybe try that once you get over this one!

BadBadBeans · 30/09/2018 08:59

@Jenlou1992 I'm one of the breathless crew too! Walking up short hills or up the stairs is what gets me mostly, but the other day I did get it in a fabric shop waiting in a queue carrying a pile of things to buy - makes me feel terribly unfit. Before getting pregnant I was at the gym 2-3 times a week and my fitness levels were pretty good so the contrast is particularly depressing! I am trying to get a good swim in twice a week to make sure I keep some fitness up but i have not been able to manage the gym at all. I found it all much easier with my first pregnancy and kept on at the gym till about 6 months - I have definitely been surprised by how unique each pregnancy experience is!

Murphyrocks · 30/09/2018 09:09

Thanks @Elizabeth134 it was me asking about anti-D, think I'm reoslved that if I have a bleed I'll ask about it again but if not I'll trust that the doctors know what they're doing as @notdoingthat suggests!

I've been quite breathless too but again it's eased off the last week or two.

modgem · 30/09/2018 09:12

Hi!
Checking in!
I've not been breathless as such, but have had a virtually constant blocked nose. It varies on how bad it is, but ia always there. Apparently it is called pregnancy rhinitus. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm going to start maternity clothes shopping and pram research this week. Any tips on where to start with prams?

Did someone mention a facebook group too? What is that for?

Thanks.

ladycarlotta · 30/09/2018 09:12

raises hand breathless here too, @Jenlou1992. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's had it basically since BFP. I was on a work phone call the other day, walking round the flat as I chatted, and I got really breathless! Quite embarassing!

Jenlou1992 · 30/09/2018 09:39

Ahhh so glad it's not just me going through this breathless stage . I can't complain because I have been very well otherwise . No sickness or headaches .

In terms of prams I've been looking a bit last few days . Me and my partner are both FT employed with good jobs and we are just in the process of buying a property so I am thinking we will just get a Mothercare range travel system . It looks just as good as the other prams which are very expensive .

This is my first child and I always thought I would be one to buy the most expensive things etc but I just can't justify it . There are prams out there for over 1000pound . It's just ridiculous. Fair play if your looking at them prams tho as it's each to their own but I am happy with the cheaper versions. I am also trying to save up as much as I can for when I go on maternity so I can try take the full year .

I work in the NHS. Does anyone know how maternity works here ? What the break down is

SquirtlesMumAgain · 30/09/2018 09:48

@thefirsttimer still aching this morning! Have slept a lot too (thankfully DH & DS went to see DFIL yesterday so I had the house to myself!). Hope you're not suffering.

A bit breathless here but as an asthmatic and struggling to take my medicine because the process makes me sick, I'm not overly surprised. It needs to sort itself out pretty quick as I have a singing concert in Oct that I really need to be able to breathe properly for!

Nightmanagerfan · 30/09/2018 10:49

@squirtlesmumagain fellow asthmatic here -
Not sure what type of inhalers you have but I can take my blue (ventolin) one with a spacer/mask more easily than my Symbicort, which is a dry powder. Might be worth asking for the spacer/mask if you’re having trouble. I think my asthma has slightly worsened, but I’ve got a cold at the moment so that would usually kick it off anyway. Asthma UK are very good for advice.

@modgem no idea where to start with peaks either. We are leaning towards second hand as we don’t have anywhere to keep it (second floor flat) apart from a bike shed! For maternity clothes I’ve only had luck with H&M so far - their mama leggings are excellent (and not see through) and the superstretch trousers are also fab. Pretty much everything I’ve ordered from Asos had to go back as it was such poor quality. I was looking at Isabel Oliver and SΓ©raphine, but really can’t justify the price.

VillageFete · 30/09/2018 11:08

@MisBit1 Congratulations!! I had a dream last night that I had mine and Sonographer said it was a girl. DP looked a bit shocked Grin We have a girl already and he has a boy preference this time. Can I see your 12 week scan? Trying to understand this nub theory thing.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 30/09/2018 11:09

@Nightmanagerfan I have fostair with a spacer but sadly it's the emptying my lungs and refilling that triggers the reflux action I guess.... All good fun! This will pass, and until then the anti-sickness meds are doing a pretty good job!

HidCat · 30/09/2018 12:44

Just catching up after a few days away from MN. Such a talkative lot lol.

I've struggled with breathlessness throughout but I'm more susceptible due to asthma so haven't thought much of it. Sorry to hear others are feeling it too.

I've seen some good travel systems around for around the Β£350 / Β£400 mark in pop up ads. One was from Joie and included carry cot, car seat, pushchair both forward and rear facing, but I can't remember the others. There are good ones out there that don't cost the earth.

Received my letter for 20week scan yesterday - only 3 weeks to go!

Bluebelltulip · 30/09/2018 13:51

@Hidcat my DD is asleep in her Joie travel system atm, it's been great the basket is huge and really easy to fold and change recline and facing position. Still use it most days now.

orangekitkat13 · 30/09/2018 14:16

@Bluebelltulip do you have the chrome DLX? That's what I've been looking at but can't find it anywhere to go and see it. Worried if it might be really heavy.

Bluebelltulip · 30/09/2018 15:17

No just the chrome.

LittleKitty1985 · 30/09/2018 16:41

@Nightmanagerfan @modgem I've found ASOS ok actually, some stuff came this week and I'm not sending anything back. I don't mind that the quality's not amazing as it'll only be worn for quite a short period

WhatALearningCurve · 30/09/2018 19:05

Went and bought a pram today! Feels crazy as I was adamant that I wasn't buying anything till after Christmas and then this weekend I bought nursery furniture, a Snuzpod, a pram and a car seat. Feeling organised though which is making me feel a lot calmer as I do have some slight control issues ha
