I'm joining the new kitchen crew. Hopefully starting work in October, knocking down walls and getting rid of the back door. Really looking forward to having it done and getting a big range cooker but it's going to be chaos. Hopefully all done before Christmas though.
Getting a load of ikea stuff delivered today to sort out under the stairs and just bought the nursery paint. I think it's a bit early for nesting but it's definitely driving me to sort out the things we have been putting up with for the last year since we moved in.

I know this isn't baby related but those of you who have done/are doing kitchens with walls and things also needing to be knocked down - have you got all the trades in yourselves or have you just got a builder/contractor who sorted all the other bits (plumber/electrician/kitchen fitter) for you too? We're starting to try to get quotes in the next few weeks but with no real idea of how you're supposed to go about it.

MakeLemonade · 27/09/2018 08:48

We’ve got a builder who organises the project - including getting in other trades when necessary. We still pay the other trades people directly though.

I’m on my second house renovation as we sold our previous one and despite all the promises I made to myself last time, bought another do-er upper.

I use Trello which is an app/website that enables shared to do lists so that DH and I can share the workload. He then does a gant chart for each room. I think good organisation is so important.

This time we’ve also decided path of least resistance on the work e.g. not spending money on structural work/a steel to make back French doors bigger when we will only gain an extra 14 inches width of glass/light. I wanted perfection last time around and I’m a lot smarter about cost vs impact this time.

That said, we think we’ve probably got another move in us so don’t necessarily plan to stay here forever although we could.

Thanks ladies for the advice about throat burn I shall take this all on board :)

I've never ever suffered with it before pregnancy so it's all new to me lol just feels like my throat is on fire in the evenings mainly!

I am going to Asda today so I can pop into the chemist and talk to them :)

Also.. I am 19+1 and I just wanted to know if you feel constant movement around this stage?

2 days ago I was getting a few pokes and twinges which I could defo tell was baby.. now it's gone abit quiet and I'm trying to stay off google and remember my MW said not to panic about movement until after 24 weeks?

Also to add on my last 2 private scan not the nhs ones they did write down anterior placenta so I gues this could contribute to it?

Yakadee · 27/09/2018 09:02

@Alicejj8x - I wouldn't worry too much at this stage. Baby is still quite small so you'll notice as a few weeks go by it'll probably increase. I'm 21+4 and I'm feeling movement a lot now. Pretty much any time I stay still. I notice it more in an evening when I'm just on the couch relaxing. X

AliceRR · 27/09/2018 09:07

@Alicejj8x I wouldn’t worry. Everyone starts feeling movement at different times. I have been feeling movement for a while and it is now every day but when it started I would feel something and then maybe nothing for five days until the next time. I think the guidelines say people don’t start feeling movement for another few weeks...

Notquiteagandt · 27/09/2018 09:10

@Alicejj8x at 19w they are only awake about 6hrs a day and usually awake when youre still. Rocking of you moving around soothes them apparently. So i wouldnt worry too much.

I think I've felt baby but then wonder if it's gas somewhere but trying not to worry. Anterior placenta babies can be felt usually from 24 weeks I was told.

19 weeks today and literally am on a emotional rollercoaster. I just can't stop crying.

Having the most awful dreams too 😭

@Baby160P - aw I’m sorry :( I had a dream about a neverending box of mint chocolate biscuits... bit more random. I’m usually a right state all the time so been surprised that I’m not crying more. I’m getting really irritable though, my Central Line rage was pretty bad this morning, a very specific type of arsehole gets the central line. I’m too nice and everyone pushes past me :/

@Alicejj8x please don't worry. I'm 21+3 and asked the sonographer about this yesterday. I have barely felt any movement and nothing convincing. She said not to worry at all as movement might not be regular until 25w. My placenta is posterior and she said that if it was anterior that would "muffle" movements even more. So don't panic SmileFlowers

Thanks @MakeLemonade I'm a complete novice at this and have dreams of moving a toilet to make the kitchen bigger. DH seems slightly less convinced as it'll involve moving the internal door to the kitchen too.

@Alicejj8x It's not unusual for movement to be more erratic earlier on and for you to sometimes feel less. The baby is still very small so may have shifted position. If you're able to, have something to eat and drink a glass of freezing cold water. That sometimes gets a wriggle going. It's still quite early though.

@powkin What is it about the central line!?! I definitely don't miss that one. Fingers crossed for a better commute home.

I've only started feeling regular movement throughout the day over the last week or so (I'm 20+5). I don't have an anterior placenta - those can make movement more difficult to feel I believe. Between 18–about 19 and a half ish weeks, it was very sporadic and I'd only notice at night usually if I was lying down and paying attention.

Now she's active throughout the day, although sluggish in the mornings like me! She seems to wake up about 30 mins after I get up and just when I'm having breakfast and then she's active on and off during the day, more so around meal times and in the evenings. But sometimes I don't feel her for an hour or two so I assume she's sleeping!

I have weird dreams nothing bad so far except this morning I woke up at 6 am to what I thought was DH knocking loudly on the front door (he stayed at his friend’s last night). I got up and went down stairs to check but it wasn’t him.

Something similar happened a couple of weeks ago when I was in the shower on an evening and DH wasn’t how yet. I heard a loud knock on the door so went to check and it wasn’t him. He wasn’t home yet.

So either I imagined it or someone is playing tricks on my or I have a ghost 😐

I gave in and got a home Doppler. Although baby seems to move after I find it I got 10 seconds worth of heart beat counting (24 beats) so x6 = 144 beats per minute.

Beats my attempting to figure the gender out as it's practically dead on the 140 the theory is based on 🙈

Must be more patient for our gender scan lol.

Our doppler was great for the odd bit of reassurance before I could feel her move. It' s along time between 12 and 20 week scan! Now I can feel her move I've put it away into storage, but was def worth the money.

Hello everyone,

I hope you don't mind me joining... I have just found out I am pregnant with my first I'm 22 and freaked out to say the least!! I've managed to pay for a private scan this morning and slightly shocked because I'm 19 weeks and 3 days so I'm due on the 17th and having a little girl. I had no idea until I went to the doctors this week because I felt sluggish and just not myself for a little while now.

I have to wait until the 10th of October to get booked in with the midwife. Can anyone tell me what it's like or if there's anything I need to do to prepare to get booked in? Hope everyone is having a good day! x

@beckyxo welcome and congratulations. Several ladies at my pregnancy yoga didn’t find out until they were in the second trimester - I think it’s more common than people think.

You don’t need to do anything in particular to prep for the appointment, but they do take a urine sample and blood test so make sure you drink a little before you go. Otherwise it’s just a lot of questions and they give you lots of advice.

@Alicejj8x I just struggled to find the difference between the placenta and my heart beat and the babies heart beat at first being a anterior placenta but do love it until I feel baby move.

@beckyxo welcome and congratulations. I'm almost certain I wouldn't have known if I hadn't have gone for a cervical screening!
