Do we need another new thread now? We’re on page 40 which seems to be whenever we start a new thread (though I have no idea how to i’m afraid).

I just rang the GP and booked an appointment with the nurse - midwife didn’t mention it.

My midwife never mentioned my jabs, my GP surgery called and booked me in.. probably differs on area though x

Yikes, I'm 24+1 now! Don't have a midwife appointment until 28 weeks and my last one was 16 weeks! Best give them a call x

Did you get the jab through your midwife? Or have to book it separately? It's not been mentioned to me yet but I'm keen to have it.

Just had the whooping cough jab. My nurse is lovely and went into great detail on the side effects.

Thought I'd post here Incase anyone is interested.

Anyone who hasn't had it or had it recently she basically explained that it covers whooping cough, polio, diphtheria and tetanus. It covers you and makes it way to baby. She said you need 2 before you're completely covered which is why babies have them when they are a few months old.

She explained the more tetanus injections you have and especially if they are close together in years the more it hurts.

She said every baby you have you have a jab so if you have children 2 years apart it'll have worse side effects with the second child.

Thankfully she told me to chose the arm I don't sleep on so I'm prepared for a painful right arm.... although it may encourage me to stay on my left side at night 🤔

Hope it helps.

Lookingatthestars89 you poor thing how scary!!! Glad you're feeling better.

Yeah I'm a second timer so requested my midwife to ring me for my Mat1B (this is how my surgery do it). I asked for one at reception when I had my jabs last week and the receptionist said I had to wait until my appointment, until I told her my next appt wasn't due until 28 weeks!

@Yakadee I was meant to get mine at 20w scan but forgot all about it so I just text my midwife and she posted it to me. Worth asking them if you need it sooner than next appointment?

Not for me - I think it’s the only one that’s different? Next one is 28 weeks and then they’re every 3 weeks (🙄)

I'm on second pregnancy and seeing midwife at 24 weeks. Just normal here I guess.

Is it not usual to get a 24 week appointment second time round? My midwife just booked it for me when I went to my 16 week one!

Report
Since2016 · 15/10/2018 10:21

@yakadee second timers will need to request it separately for 25 weeks. I’m going to pop in this week as I don’t have community appts so can’t ask via GP but have another scan so will ask then. Alternatively ask when having your diabetes screen if you’re doing it? (Thankfully I have gotten DD into nursery for that day so will be childfree!)

welshweasel · 15/10/2018 10:15

I’m getting mine at my 24 week midwife appointment this week. You have to be at least 20 weeks and HR will want it by the time you’re 25 weeks.

AliceRR, I cannot hold my bladder whatsoever due to my disability. So my bladder is always empty or almost empty.
It's never been a problem for my scans :)

@Yakadee thank you

@AliceRR
Thank you :) I rang and they said it's most likely RLP .. so feeling better and happier now I was so worried lol but think that's normal. For some reason just thought RLP would last minutes but I guess it can last longer :)

I hope the doctors goes okay! I occasionally get this rib pain too but more when I'm sitting down in a awkward position. Good luck and I am sure it's all normal :) xx

sorry Alice missed your update before I posted! Glad you got some reassurance

Report

@Alicejj8x Hope you are ok. If you are worried I would suggest you call midwife even if only for reassurance.

It’s so hard knowing what’s “normal” when it comes to pains in pregnancy!

I had a sharp pain in abdomen yesterday morning when I was sitting on the bed and reached over for something. It just came and went so must be down to the way I stretched as I didn’t feel anything after but everything is a worry!

Meanwhile I am at the gp surgery for a pain on my rib(?). I’m sure DH thinks I’m a hypochondriac...

@Lookingathestars89 Oh dear! Thanks for posting. I have been having palpitations on and off for about a month (had ECG and that was fine but I don’t know how much I trust it as I wasn’t having palpitations when they did it?) and since Friday have had a sharp pain in chest / rib. I think it’s rib pain but it’s not just a general ache, it’s in a specific spot, behind my boob on right hand side so I cannot out my finger on it (figuratively or literally!)

I am now in gp surgery waiting for my appointment.

I did read a few horror stories on mumsnet (put up a separate post about it at the weekend) which is what made me think I should see doctor.

Hope you are doing ok now?

@LookingAtTheStars89 - that sounds really scary - can I ask for a bit more detail of what you mean when you said you ‘zoned out’?

I’m away with the faeiries a lot on a normal day so don’t want my husband to call 999 every time that happens! Joking aside, it would be really helping to know what it was like. I had a really bad leg cramp the other day and a few friends were nagging that it should be checked out but I brushed it off so this is a good reminder to take things seriously.
