JC @lookingforadvice123 I’m glad you’re ok and got it diagnosed but omg that’s terrifying!!!!

Squashbanana1 · 14/10/2018 22:35

Yes definitely lots of people out there who think they are doing things the best / right way and therefore you should do the same Hmm. Do what you need to do for yourself and your family only Smile

@LookingAtTheStars89 oh my gosh I'm glad you and baby are ok now that must have been scary. Follow your gut instincts

Notquiteagandt · 14/10/2018 22:38

@LookingAtTheStars89 my midwife warned me about blood clots but its one of those things you dont actually think will happen. How scary for you!! Hope you are taking it easy & being well looked after.

Does anyone else think they should just send screen shots of this thread to schools. Be the best sex education lesson ever. Would put them off babies for life let alone becoming a teen mum 😂 the things we go through during pregnancy. Think I had been really nieve before about how hard it really is in hind sight.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 14/10/2018 22:48

@Squashbanana1. Yes instincts are important, who cares if it turns out to be nothing in the end. Even the paramedic thought it might be anxiety related lol.

@Notquiteagandt. This Is my 5th pregnancy (4th baby) so I've heard the whole DVT spiel a good few times but I didn't realise you could just randomly clot elsewhere (I didn't have a DVT). I also didn't realise that there's a blood clot and a pulmonary embolism - pulmonary embolism = really poorly as the clot has broken off and started lung clogging! I still am gobsmacked. I feel like crap and I'm super tired (on top of usual pregnancy crapiness and tiredness!).

twiglet · 15/10/2018 03:32

@LookingAtTheStars89 so glad you are OK

@cw96 I'm in the same position of pgp generally I find that people with that attitude clearly didn't listen to the physio. To me it also sounds like they never got pgp! Physio is helping me but physio isn't a magic wand unless you do the exercises to strengthen. My right hip is bad at the moment was in tears today just walking around the shops as I forgot to put my belt on.

Since2016 · 15/10/2018 06:11

Wrong tag sorry! I meant @lookingatthestars89 sorry!

@notquiteagandt sorry just read your update too. I’m so sorry you’ve been through so much already. Hope you have lots of real life support from your OH/family but what a strong mummy your baby has already!

How long does round ligament pain last?

I woke up at 3am this morning ( not from the pain) and I noticed I felt a full sharp ache on my left side of my tummy. I managed to fall back to sleep and when I’ve woken up the pain is still here 😕. I am wondering wether it is round ligament pain. I am 21+4 weeks now

Could it be round ligament pain or something else?

Fredthespider · 15/10/2018 06:31

@LookingAtTheStars89 that sounds so scary! I’m glad you took it seriously and called 999. Having spent a little time with some paramedics I know that they would much rather people are cautious and call rather than ‘not wanting to bother them’ so you did the right thing!

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 07:02

@LookingAtTheStars89 - oh my goodness! I hope you're OK xxx

@Alicejj8x - I think it comes in stages. Could last several mins or weeks. As long as pain isn't really bad / bleeding I believe you're OK xx

Alicejj8x · 15/10/2018 07:07

@Yakadee thank you. No bleeding at all and pain has defo got better not as sharp but feels abit bruised now.

I was on google at 3am and let's just say scared myself abit lol

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 07:28

We've all been there. (I'm sure it won't be the last time for any of us either). Of course if you are at all worried, don't hesitate to call in.

When I was pregnant with my first, around 16 weeks I had the most excruciating pain in my side, so much so I threw up! Went home from work and got in at the docs. It was just the babies position and he moved and I never felt it again! Xx

Alicejj8x · 15/10/2018 08:14

Do I ring my maternity triage line would you say?

welshweasel · 15/10/2018 08:20

Yes usually ring mat triage after 20 weeks, they will likely be able to reassure you but may suggest you see your GP or pop up to see them just to exclude uti etc

Alicejj8x · 15/10/2018 08:32

Thank you @welshweasel

I rang the day assessment unit as my midwife phone didnt ring through and the triage line I was 25th in the line :/ but glad I rang day assessment now .. and they said to me that it is more than likely round ligament as baby is growing lots now. She said if It was to come
Back to call GP and they will refer me for physio so they didn't seem that worried and just told me to rest up. The pain has gone now so I'm happy about that. Just worried me as I didn't know how long round ligament pain could last for I thought it was only minutes but from what I've learnt it can go on for hours/ dahs? Xxx

powkin · 15/10/2018 08:57

@LookingAtTheStars89 - that sounds really scary - can I ask for a bit more detail of what you mean when you said you ‘zoned out’?

I’m away with the faeiries a lot on a normal day so don’t want my husband to call 999 every time that happens! Joking aside, it would be really helping to know what it was like. I had a really bad leg cramp the other day and a few friends were nagging that it should be checked out but I brushed it off so this is a good reminder to take things seriously.

AliceRR · 15/10/2018 09:07

@Lookingathestars89 Oh dear! Thanks for posting. I have been having palpitations on and off for about a month (had ECG and that was fine but I don’t know how much I trust it as I wasn’t having palpitations when they did it?) and since Friday have had a sharp pain in chest / rib. I think it’s rib pain but it’s not just a general ache, it’s in a specific spot, behind my boob on right hand side so I cannot out my finger on it (figuratively or literally!)

I am now in gp surgery waiting for my appointment.

I did read a few horror stories on mumsnet (put up a separate post about it at the weekend) which is what made me think I should see doctor.

Hope you are doing ok now?

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 09:09

@Alicejj8x - glad you've called and put your mind at ease xx

AliceRR · 15/10/2018 09:11

@Alicejj8x Hope you are ok. If you are worried I would suggest you call midwife even if only for reassurance.

It’s so hard knowing what’s “normal” when it comes to pains in pregnancy!

I had a sharp pain in abdomen yesterday morning when I was sitting on the bed and reached over for something. It just came and went so must be down to the way I stretched as I didn’t feel anything after but everything is a worry!

Meanwhile I am at the gp surgery for a pain on my rib(?). I’m sure DH thinks I’m a hypochondriac...

AliceRR · 15/10/2018 09:17

sorry Alice missed your update before I posted! Glad you got some reassurance

Alicejj8x · 15/10/2018 09:21

@Yakadee thank you

@AliceRR
Thank you :) I rang and they said it's most likely RLP .. so feeling better and happier now I was so worried lol but think that's normal. For some reason just thought RLP would last minutes but I guess it can last longer :)

I hope the doctors goes okay! I occasionally get this rib pain too but more when I'm sitting down in a awkward position. Good luck and I am sure it's all normal :) xx

Alicejj8x · 15/10/2018 09:21

@AliceRR
Lol no worries :) it's hard to catch up with all these posts at times isn't it x

Pepper123123 · 15/10/2018 09:27

AliceRR, I cannot hold my bladder whatsoever due to my disability. So my bladder is always empty or almost empty.
It's never been a problem for my scans :)

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 10:11

Does anyone know when we do Matb1 form? Thanks x

welshweasel · 15/10/2018 10:15

I’m getting mine at my 24 week midwife appointment this week. You have to be at least 20 weeks and HR will want it by the time you’re 25 weeks.

Since2016 · 15/10/2018 10:21

@yakadee second timers will need to request it separately for 25 weeks. I’m going to pop in this week as I don’t have community appts so can’t ask via GP but have another scan so will ask then. Alternatively ask when having your diabetes screen if you’re doing it? (Thankfully I have gotten DD into nursery for that day so will be childfree!)
