Is it not usual to get a 24 week appointment second time round? My midwife just booked it for me when I went to my 16 week one!

Since2016 · 15/10/2018 10:35

Not for me - I think it’s the only one that’s different? Next one is 28 weeks and then they’re every 3 weeks (🙄)

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 15/10/2018 10:35

I'm on second pregnancy and seeing midwife at 24 weeks. Just normal here I guess.

Notquiteagandt · 15/10/2018 10:45

@Yakadee I was meant to get mine at 20w scan but forgot all about it so I just text my midwife and she posted it to me. Worth asking them if you need it sooner than next appointment?

@LookingAtTheStars89. So glad that you are ok and feeling a little better. Nice to have you back x

Lookingforadvice123 · 15/10/2018 11:03

Lookingatthestars89 you poor thing how scary!!! Glad you're feeling better.

Yeah I'm a second timer so requested my midwife to ring me for my Mat1B (this is how my surgery do it). I asked for one at reception when I had my jabs last week and the receptionist said I had to wait until my appointment, until I told her my next appt wasn't due until 28 weeks!

Baby160P · 15/10/2018 11:03

Just had the whooping cough jab. My nurse is lovely and went into great detail on the side effects.

Thought I'd post here Incase anyone is interested.

Anyone who hasn't had it or had it recently she basically explained that it covers whooping cough, polio, diphtheria and tetanus. It covers you and makes it way to baby. She said you need 2 before you're completely covered which is why babies have them when they are a few months old.

She explained the more tetanus injections you have and especially if they are close together in years the more it hurts.

She said every baby you have you have a jab so if you have children 2 years apart it'll have worse side effects with the second child.

Thankfully she told me to chose the arm I don't sleep on so I'm prepared for a painful right arm.... although it may encourage me to stay on my left side at night 🤔

Hope it helps.

WonkyDonk87 · 15/10/2018 11:15

Did you get the jab through your midwife? Or have to book it separately? It's not been mentioned to me yet but I'm keen to have it.

Yakadee · 15/10/2018 11:15

Yikes, I'm 24+1 now! Don't have a midwife appointment until 28 weeks and my last one was 16 weeks! Best give them a call x

cw96 · 15/10/2018 11:24

My midwife never mentioned my jabs, my GP surgery called and booked me in.. probably differs on area though x

welshweasel · 15/10/2018 11:41

I just rang the GP and booked an appointment with the nurse - midwife didn’t mention it.

Do we need another new thread now? We’re on page 40 which seems to be whenever we start a new thread (though I have no idea how to i’m afraid).

Lulabell1 · 15/10/2018 22:21

@lookingattgestar89 really sorry to hear that I had one when pregnant with DD on my lung. Am also on the thinning injections now just incase repeat in this pregnancy.
