Morning ladies,

What’s everyone doing vitamin wise? I’m 13+4, do I still need folic acid? I have only been taking that and Vit D but forgot the last 2 days Confused

Murphyrocks · 24/09/2018 09:23

@Villagefete I asked my me about that at my 16 week appointment and it's only vitamin D you really have to take past 12 weeks, obviously you can take others (I'm also having folic acid until it runs out, a b complex, fish oil, calcium & iron) but just the vitamin D you really need.

@jenfur I have this one which is awesome: QUEEN ROSE Full Body Pregnancy Pillow & Maternity Pillow with Replaceable and Washable Cover (150 x 80 cm, Jersey, Grey) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077NX7GJ9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_07jQBb4C6K4S2?tag=mumsnetforum-21

I went to put a pair of my work jeans on this morning which to be fair were a bit snug after they'd be washed anyway... but I couldn't get in them! Had to dig out my cheap Asda elasticated waist ones.
Also, I'm really nauseous this morning for some reason! Felt completely fine until I had my morning cup of decaf tea and now I feel like I could vomit everywhere! Really hoping this isn't the start of things to come!

NotDoingThat · 24/09/2018 09:33

@Murphyrocks I have that pillow too- couldn't get on with it (too thick)! I think it'll be very handy for nursing though!

I'm tempted to try one of those C shaped pillows (I keep waking up on my front)- has anyone tried one?

Bluebelltulip · 24/09/2018 09:50

I'm still taking a supermarket pregnancy vitamin but have some vitamin D tablets to switch to.

Has anyone found a waterproof maternity coat that doesn't cost a fortune? I didn't get one with DD but I used a warm coat and umbrella, unfortunately I can't use an umbrella while pushing DD.

Angelmiracle · 24/09/2018 10:00

@Bluebelltulip I was looking at coats yesterday. Asda seemed priced ok. But I was going to get a standard coat next size up

They have shower resistant maternity coats too but some reviews said rain soaked through.

I’m just taking vitamin d now as there’s a small link between folic acid post 12 weeks and tongue tie. I’ll see if I can dig out the link to the research later.

Definitely in maternity trousers now at 13+5!
And last night set a record of getting up six times for a wee!!

LovelyFishy · 24/09/2018 11:54

Jenfur I have a Dreamgenii from my 1st pregnancy and loved it! It also leaves enough space in the bed for DH which I know a lot of others make a bit squishy unless you have a massive bed!

Wineandchoccy · 24/09/2018 12:15

@VillageFete I’m taking iron prescribed by my gp and vitamin d. I stopped taking folic acid last week when I ran out, the midwife said it does no harm to be taking it throughout but also no need either.

LittleKitty1985 · 24/09/2018 13:29

@VillageFete I'm taking vit D, iron and omega (the last 2 are because I'm vegetarian)

cardboard33 · 24/09/2018 14:50

@lovelyfishy I've got a dreamgenii too as it was half price. I got it early to try to encourage me to sleep on my side rather than front. I'm finding it alright but can't really work out how it's supposed to support/encourage side sleeping as I just fall in between the gaps. As in my entire body fits in the cotton non pillow bit so generally find myself on my back by the time I wake up. Am I not doing something right?? Or I just decide sleeping on my front is more comfy.

sunnywithachanceofpanic · 24/09/2018 17:05

Does anyone feel like their bump is small? I've only read people saying they feel big. People at work kept commenting how small I look and now it's given me a complex. It's my first so wasn't expecting it to pop out but now I'm over thinking it.

Angelmiracle · 24/09/2018 17:19

@sunnywithachanceofpanic I didnt tell work with DS until 17 weeks as there was nothing to see and would have gotten away with it another 4 weeks! I took it as a nice thing being told I was neat because I ballooned at 8 months 😁 I dread being told how big I am this time around πŸ˜‚

Wineandchoccy · 24/09/2018 17:43

@sunnywithachanceofpanic not this time but with dd I was tiny until 6 months then I popped and looked like a weeble Grin

Kee80 · 24/09/2018 17:44

I don't have a bump at all only when I wake up in a morning and laid flat. My waist just looks a little thicker no bump at all and just bloated at night! I'm 15 weeks

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 24/09/2018 18:14

@sunnywithachanceofpanic I definitely feel like my bump is pretty non existent. It definitely gets bigger at some points during the day but it all jut bloat/gas. I'm 14 weeks.

HidCat · 24/09/2018 21:46

I can easily see my bump but it's not noticeable to others most of the time. At this point with DS I was still in my normal jeans!

Nightmanagerfan · 24/09/2018 22:00

Can anyone recommend where is best to get good quality maternity clothes? So far the best stuff I’ve got has been from Lidl! I just had a massive order arrive from ASOS and all of it is going back - terrible thin fabrics, odd sizing, strange cuts. I have bought one pair of skinny jeans and two tops from H&M that are ok, but honestly don’t look like they will last...

Wineandchoccy · 24/09/2018 22:05

@Nightmanagerfan I have Jeans and a couple of dresses from Mothercare which are good. Next are good for workwear, Dorothy Perkins for casual stuff. H & M leggings are excellent plus the vest tops are good as well from there.

ballanj · 24/09/2018 22:05

@sunnywithachanceofpanic I feel more 'thick' than bumpy if that makes any sense?! Obviously I've got bigger as clothes are too tight but don't feel like I've got a proper bump yet, more bloat and wobble than what I'd call a proper bump. It's my first too. I'm sure a month or two more and I'll be able to look and go 'yep that's a bump' πŸ˜‚

Wineandchoccy · 24/09/2018 22:11

It’s when you park your car and try to get out and realise you are an awful lot bigger than you thought Blush

modgem · 25/09/2018 06:31

Hello!
Can I join please? First time mum due 19th March. Very excited.
I was wondering about where to find good maternity clothes, so I'm pleased to see the last few posts on this thread!

Thanks!

Jenfur · 25/09/2018 06:41

@VillageFete My midwife recommended folic acid until 15 weeks, just to make sure you get plenty in case your dates change. Otherwise its just vit d all the way through which is already feeling like a chore to remember.

Jenfur · 25/09/2018 06:45

@lovelyfishy I move from sleeping on one side to the other a lot. I've looked at the dreamgenii but would I have to keep turning it in the night to change my direction? I woke up at 3 this morning and didn't fall asleep again until 6 so I'm feeling rough. I feel like whichever side I lie on, my mattress is hurting me or causing neck and back pain. The mattress is really firm and only a couple of years old but at this rate I'm going to be sleeping on the sofa soon.

Kee80 · 25/09/2018 07:29

Welcome @modgem same due date as me. Congratulations
