A day behind everyone's shopping spree... Loving Lidl's maternity bits. Have picked up 2 cami's, 2 pairs of tights and 2 pairs of pjs. Think I might ask my friend to pick me up an extra pair of tights and another 2 cami's.... they seem so comfy on first try on!

VillageFete · 07/09/2018 23:15

Does anyone know anything about crown to rump length measurements and accuracy? I’ve had 4 private scans. The first 3, the dates tallied up perfectly (I had them at 6+5, 7+5 and 9+1 and all put me as ovulating on 9th July, EDD of 1st April) Today’s scan put me a day ahead. I should be 10+4, according to the other 3 scans, but the sonographer today put me as 10+5, which would mean I ovulated on 8th July, EDD of 31st March. What is likely to be most accurate? The previous 3 scans, or today’s? Today’s crown to rump length was 39.4mm

SquirtlesMumAgain · 07/09/2018 23:55

The measurements all depend on baby's angle too. Dates may still change up to your 20 week scan so don't get too set on anything (we were pushed forward 6 days at DS's 20 week scan)

Great news @toastfiend, so pleased for you

thefirsttimer · 08/09/2018 04:57

Hi all just utilising my insomnia to catch up! Congratulations to all who have had scans this week, lovely pictures!

@toastfiend so glad everything's looking great after your ordeal in France, must be a huge relief for you.

Quick update from me at exactly 16w today - we had a private gender scan at only 15+1. Baby had not one ounce of dignity and so very clearly showed us... he is a boy! It's suddenly felt so much more real to be able to refer to him as "he", and we've even started buying some 'boy' clothes for HIM this week 😍.

Jenlou1992 · 08/09/2018 06:37

Still in dream land after a beautiful first scan yesterday . Can't stop smiling from ear to ear . Already got baby in a little frame . They only pushed me back a day which I am happy with so new EDD 15.03.19

It all feels so real now . May go buy the first outfit today haha . Exciting times

Great that baby is looking healthy @toastfiend and also that they are taking you seriously.

Congratulations @thefirsttimer so exciting to know the sex already. We have another 2.5 weeks until we find out and I’m so impatient!

Has anyone got any cravings? I can’t stop drinking spicy tomato juice and I’m craving spicy food a lot. It’s kind of inconvenient as DS doesn’t like anything spicy and I can’t be bothered to cook two meals so I’ve mostly been adding Tabasco to my food!

Funnybunnyfluff · 08/09/2018 12:38

Congratulations to all the lovely scans that I have seen πŸ˜€.

Just waiting for my letter for my 12 week scan. Never been so desperate to see the postman.

We are not going to find out the sex of our baby and leave it a surprise. Is anyone else having a surprise?

Angelmiracle · 08/09/2018 13:19

@Funnybunnyfluff we're keeping it a surprise too! We didn't find out with DS either though I had a very strong inkling from the beginning. Won't stop me trying to guess with old myths though πŸ˜„

OP posts:
Funnybunnyfluff · 08/09/2018 13:47

@Angelmiracle
That's good to hear Smile.
I would love to know but I think it's the last little surprise at the end.
My friend recently had a little boy and she told everyone he was a boy and his name so the only thing left to tell people was his weight and it was so exciting.
I like the idea of my family trying to guess names out of us lol. Keeping it all a secret.

Nightmanagerfan · 08/09/2018 13:57

@shampooeeee I seem to be craving apple juice (cloudy only mind you) and beige carbs still. Not much else and absolutely no desire for fruit and veg.

Thanks for the Lidl tips - just got the last pillow in my local store, along with jeans, vest tops, sports leggings, leggings, tights and pjs. Some may need to go back if the sizes aren’t right.

@fluffybunnyfluff I don’t think we will find out the sex. If it’s obvious on a scan I won’t mind but we will keep it to ourselves

VillageFete · 08/09/2018 15:30

I didn’t find out the sex of my DD, and by the end of the long, complicated labour I genuinely felt no happiness or element of surprise. I was too sick to care. I know for the majority of people it must be an amazing surprise at the end and I can totally see why people opt not to find out sex, but this time I am. I want to get organised and bond earlier on with β€œhe” or β€œshe” I really cannot wait to find out! Plus my DD is about to turn 9 and I know she’ll desperately want to know if she’s getting a brother or sister.

Wineandchoccy · 08/09/2018 16:04

@Funnybunnyfluff we are not finding out although I think it will be another girl. We didn’t find out with dd and loved the surprise after an awful labour

Funnybunnyfluff · 08/09/2018 16:14

Really good to hear different people views and opinions on it.

Just had my first scan date through not until the 20th September will be 13 weeks then... it's taking forever.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 08/09/2018 16:54

We didn't find out with DS, but we might this time not sure yet!

toastfiend · 08/09/2018 17:23

@Funnybunnyfluff we're not finding out either as both DH and I would like to keep it as a surprise. Smile

I went to my local Lidl today and not maternity stuff whatsoever! I think it's probably because the store is quite small. Never mind, a shopping trip later and both New Look and H&M have come up trumps with a couple of pairs of maternity jeans and some tops. Really pleased that I can wear jeans again and will have some clothes that fit me properly! They also seem to highlight the little 'bump' I now have and that the rest of me still looks 'normal', so in a funny way I feel slimmer in them. My old clothes just make me look like I've expanded everywhere!

Murphyrocks · 08/09/2018 18:04

@toastfiend yes I agree, in that awkward in between stage I just look a bit tubby in normal clothes, but maternity wear actually makes the bump more obvious and I find fits the rest of me better! Much more flattering I think and bands etc can be folded down for a smaller bump. Maternity wear all the way! I also went to a nearly new baby sale today and got some sweet little newborn clothes which made it all a bit more real! A snowsuit, 3 sleepsuits and a sleeping bag for Β£6, and all look basically new!

Jenlou1992 · 09/09/2018 15:22

Need some help .

I really do not want to find out the sex of the baby . I like the idea of a surprise and there's enough gender neutral stuff and unisex stuff out there. My partner really wants to find out . Mainly because all his friends did with theirs and so we can buy girl/boy clothes . I don't want to dismiss his thoughts and feelings on the idea but I'm stuck .

Anyone any suggestions

PurpleFlower1983 · 09/09/2018 15:29

We are finding out, I’m not particularly bothered and would have a surprise but my DH is desperate to know so we are having a 16 week scan next week.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 09/09/2018 16:03

If one if you wants a surprise then you really shouldn't have to compromise!
Explain why you don't want to find and and discuss it - we did last time and settled on not finding out and were both happy with the surprise in the end.

lemonsorbetinthesun · 09/09/2018 17:07

I wasn't particularly bothered about finding out, but DH would like to. He is a very practical person by nature though so I think that's probably why.

Murphyrocks · 09/09/2018 18:50

@Jenlou1992 I had a similar situation but the other way around - I wanted to find out but dh wanted a surprise. We decided to let dss have the deciding vote and he wanted to find out so we did, but aware both that's not for everyone and that not everyone has a stepchild! I'd try and discuss but to be honest I think we would have ended up just flipping a coin - we do that with a lot of decisions when we can't easily agree and generally we'll take the decision of the coin to avoid an argument if there aren't massive ramifications! Again, probably not for everyone though.

cardboard33 · 09/09/2018 19:12

@jenlou1992 one of my friend's was in the same position. She didn't want to know what they were having and her husband really wanted to find out. The way they resolved it was to finalise the names before the 20 week scan and then he found out after she left the room, and he promised to not tell her. We (and everyone else) were sceptical as to whether he would last without giving it away (using gender pronouns etc) or if she would cave, but they managed it and she didnt know they were having a girl until after the baby was born.

It takes a lot of willpower to do what they did as she was adamant that names had to be finalized before he found out as otherwise he would be more "into" one gender names and then she'd know which one they were having, and he had to be really careful with what he said to her about the baby... But it worked for them so you could do something similar, as then you both win?
