@dartmoordoughnut I’m so sorry. Thinking of you, really hope you’re okay.
@ashley992 I get anxious about symptoms going too. Mine seem to come and go all the time which is causing me no end of stress. Does anyone else get this or is it just me? Like one day will feel so sick then the next day I won’t... same with my boobs hurting... I’m 6 + 1 today.

SPR1107 · 22/08/2018 12:43

@SheRaTheAllPowerful and @Alohomora07 we had a 6 week scan with DS1 and could clearly see a heartbeat, this time, we decided to wait until 8 weeks, as that's half way between when we found out at 4 weeks, and roughly when we expect the 12 week scan to be

Eastend2015 · 22/08/2018 12:47

Agreed you should definitely see a heartbeat at 7 weeks and then the chance of MC decreases rapidly. Its such a nerve wracking time!

donna474 · 22/08/2018 13:07

@italianwifey I went and got some
Pregnancy tests yesterday as was panicking and my symptoms had gone. They soon came back later on anyway and test was still positive

monkerina · 22/08/2018 13:08

So sorry @dartmoor, be kind to yourself x

I had a scan at 6+1 (3 previous mcs and cramping) and could see a jelly baby splodge and flickering hb. With DS I had a private scan at 7+4 and he looked more like an actual baby! The anxiety is real though- my last pregnancy I had a good scan at 7 weeks and still lost the baby at 13 weeks (chromosomal abnormality, not visible at early scan). Just trying not to think about things going wrong again!

Sex- DS (2.5) thinks it's a sister and is quite clear about that. So far symptoms are very similar to my pregnancy with him (tiredness, hunger, not too much vomming) whereas last pregnancy vomit featured a LOT more. Interesting! DS is the first grandchild on both sides (although my mum has 2 stepgrandchildren, boy and girl) so we'll see. Always wanted a girl but feel I know what to do with boys now!

seeingdots · 22/08/2018 13:11

Nice to have a due date buddy @Beaglemum93! That's interesting you have to see the GP first, it seems to vary so much between areas. When I was pregnant with my DD I phoned up the GP and the receptionist was pretty much like 'well what do you want me to do about it?' and was all put out that I expected some sort of direction as to who I was supposed to speak to to get antenatal care Hmm

italianwifey · 22/08/2018 13:14

@donna474 I had to really resist doing that yesterday! Kept thinking maybe I could just buy one, but I know it won’t helo really or will
Maybe reassure me for a day then will just worry again! Hard trying to relax about it all :-)

@seeingdots that sounds frustrating, mine were a bit like that too!

Eastend2015 · 22/08/2018 13:40

@italianwifey I totally understand, just try and take each day as it comes. I know it’s hard but symptoms do come and go. I guess the hormones surge and then everything stabilises for a bit!

As far as testing goes, I had a massive panic last night thinking my test had got massively weaker over the past week when in actual fact the test line was super strong and the control line was weaker in comparison. I know it doesn’t mean the pregnancy is going to continue to be fine but at least it’s ok at the moment. Why do we do this to ourselves- it’s crazy!!

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 22/08/2018 13:49

I'm trying to resist more tests. I did 3 on day 1, and did get DH to do one too, just to check they weren't faulty! Seems so silly now!

I'm 7 + 3 now and having an early scan at 9+2. Going away with the inlaws for weeks 10-12 so it'd be good to have reassurrance all's well so far, in case I can't keep the secret. I expect my 12 week scan will be realistically 13 or even 14 weeks in.

Eastend2015 · 22/08/2018 14:06

Any advice please ladies- I have had a number of losses in the past and I think stress has been a big factor, including work related. My most recent MC was in Feb. I saw a bereavement therapist who helped me sort out a few things. A friend suggested applying for a new job working for her in a large company.

I got the job and started mid July. I had AF the following week and DTD around ovulation but just assumed we wouldn’t get pregnant the first month- and yet here we are!!

I am fine in terms of qualifying period for the company mat policy (by a week!!) but my question is, when should I tell my boss? She is a friend so aware of our previous losses, but I have been quite vague about TTC plans. I know she has been TTC herself for a while with no luck. I’m thinking maybe after our 6 week scan next week, presuming it’s all ok? But I feel so sick and anxious I’m v distracted and she is bound to notice- i’m covering by saying I am full of cold at the moment but it can’t last. Also things might not be ok, in which case it might be better to say nothing so she doesn’t write me off future projects?!

LMMEMW · 22/08/2018 14:18

Hi I need advise! I'm 7 weeks 1 day and finding it hard to drink liquids! any one else like this? I'm so thirsty but even sipping at water has me feeling sick! I love milk but can only have a glass or 2 before it feels too much. thanks x

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 22/08/2018 14:34

@Eastend I would have you scan them email your boss, normally I’d say do in person but if she is trying to conceive herself, it might be easier for her to process that way.
@LMMEMW sounds weird but have you tried thick milkshake? I lived on it in the early days so my last pregnancy, it’s so thick and gloopy it felt like it was lining my stomach and help with the nausea, I really liked the galaxy & mars ones and I normally don’t have a sweet tooth, I don’t have sugar in tea and rarely eat dessert, but it was a life saver!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 22/08/2018 14:43

@newbie2703 just saw your scan pic on the old thread, such a fab photo! I’m so excited to have a scan and make this all feel more real, how many weeks were you when you had it? I’m just planning when to book mine in.

TheMagicTorch · 22/08/2018 14:48

@SheRaTheAllPowerful our local private place does early scans from 6 weeks.

You can see a heartbeat from 6 weeks, but dates can be slightly out so if you were to book one for 6 weeks but only be, say, 5+3 you might not see a heartbeat, or get a clear picture.
I've booked mine for 7 + 1 so hopefully we get a nice picture and a heartbeat (I hope!)
Hopefully at that point it will be abdominal rather than vaginal but not too fussed if they have to go "in".

@Alohomora07 not a silly worry at all, it's totally normal. I'm 5+3 too, and I'm more worried about not having an early scan and then getting bad news at the 12 week scan, and we also want to tell people (not loads, just a select few) before 12 weeks as it's getting tough to keep it a secret.

Ours is booked for 7+1 and hopefully everything progresses well up to the 12 week scan.

TheMagicTorch · 22/08/2018 14:50

@LMMEMW I read online that ice lollies are good for getting liquids into you - is that something you could try?
x

Ohnonotanotherusername · 22/08/2018 15:02

@LMMEMW I've also been finding drinking quite difficult, normally drink loads and loads of water but really struggling with it now. I've found sparkling water much easier to drink and sucking on ice cubes as well. Hope you find something that helps.

Newbie2703 · 22/08/2018 15:10

@SheRaTheAllPowerful I had it yesterday at 9 weeks :) it was such an amazing feeling !!

LMMEMW · 22/08/2018 15:27

@SheRaTheAllPowerful Milkshake sounds amazing right now! emmm might have to go get one after work. Thanks. Feeling thirsty is making me feel worse as well. I normally drink loads of water during the day so a real struggle now.
@TheMagicTorch I tried an ice pop but was too sweet. I think ill buy the things to make your own and use dilute juice to see if it helps.

@Ohnonotanotherusername I was told sparkling water by someone as well. I don't like it normally but might have to try to see if itl help.

Footymum81 · 22/08/2018 15:37

@hellsbells552 just nausea but it gets to the point I'm about to run to the loo then it eases off a bit! Also suffering as have cut down allergy pills so I feel your pain

Glad I'm not the only one who's having trouble drinking! I'm currently on orange lucozade and have found ice lollies help. DH is doing his best to keep me fed and hydrated bless him

Ohnonotanotherusername · 22/08/2018 15:40

@LMMEMW it's been an absolute godsend for me - but I do like it normally.

I feel so bloated and sick, like there's a bowling ball in my stomach. Finding wearing tight work clothes a real struggle.

LMMEMW · 22/08/2018 15:52

@Ohnonotanotherusername I'm the same! I only have so many clothes that hide my bloating! I was convinced it must have been twins because I was bloating so much! (Early scan done and only one little bean in there :) ) I think its too early for maternity but feel I might need to go that way for my jeans! Has anyone else caved in this early to maternity jeans for comfort?

Alohomora07 · 22/08/2018 16:09

@TheMagicTorch Oh gosh thats another good point! I just never imagined that once you got pregnant, there would be so much to worry about. It's quite overwhelming! I'm so glad to have this group for support, especially as my husband and I aren't planning to tell anyone until around 12 weeks.

@Ohnonotanotherusername @LMMEMW I'm totally with you about the bloating. I'm only 5+3 and am really running out of comfortable trousers! I'm lucky that I can wear jeans to work, but I was already putting on a little weight before my BFP, and now they really are too tight! I'm wondering whether to buy one pair a size bigger before considering maternity jeans?

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 22/08/2018 16:09

I can’t wait to buy maternity clothes, we didn’t have much money during my first pregnancy so I hardly bought anything. This time at least we are a bit better off, plus lots of my friends are finished facing children so I might get some good cast offs :)

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 22/08/2018 17:00

Really sorry to hear that @dartmoor.

italianwifey · 22/08/2018 17:46

Thanks @Eastend2015 I know you’re right and I just need to try and calm down! So hard though.
@LMMEMW Sparkling water has been great for me, also can’t get enough of fizzy drinks?? And sour sweets for some reason!! Usually I’m much more of a savoury snack kind of person. Totally gone off chocolate too!!!
