@DragonFlew I know - I literally said yesterday morning to my best friend (who is also pregnant) that it must mean everything is fine. I think it’s very very rare for triploidy pregnancies to get this far so perhaps they weren’t sure what to make of it all, especially as everything else was ‘low risk’. Seems to make a bit of a mockery of the whole screening but having both b-hCG and PAPP-A seems super unusual as an outcome. Oh, and this consultant obstetrician said he had been on holiday, so maybe they were waiting for his specialist opinion. Who knows.

Cheery1 · 29/08/2018 19:43

@powkin, sounds like you’ve got a bit lost in the system. I’m so sorry that you’ve not had any answers yet, the waiting must be really tough. Sending love and really hoping you get good news xxx

Surprisedmom · 29/08/2018 20:22

@Powkin i’m sorry to hear your news and that you’re being treated so poorly by the doctors (not contacting you for weeks). I really hope you get good news in a few days.

@baby160p I am totally with you on the starving to full in 60 seconds. Then half an hour after dinner i’m hungry again.

MakeLemonade · 29/08/2018 20:34

@powkin so sorry to hear your news, it must be so tough having to wait and so much to process xx

Tumon · 29/08/2018 21:31

@powkin I’m so so sorry to hear you’re going through this. But if the scan all looks normal is there any way there could have been an error with the bloods? Really hoping it’s been some kind of technical mistake and everything is ok. Xxxx

powkin · 29/08/2018 21:41

@Tumon I don’t think so. I think quite a few people with this can get through to 20 weeks as scans look normal to start and then start to look abnormal at 16-20 weeks. But most miscarry before then so there doesn’t seem much information.

The other possibility mentioned in the blood reports for investigation but not mentioned today in the meeting was that my kidneys are not functioning properly, but I guess they want to rule out the worst and riskiest thing first.

Tumon · 29/08/2018 22:49

@powkin there’s such a lack of information on so much pregnancy related , it’s frustrating that the answers seem to take so long. You must be just so anxious. But hopefully it’ll be ok and will all work out. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this xxx

MrsY87 · 30/08/2018 06:39

@powkin so sorry to hear your news and that you are going through this. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the CVS result is positive. Hope you have some good support in real life too x

Since2016 · 30/08/2018 08:25

Gosh just catching up. So sorry @powkin it must be so worrying. Have you decided what to do re your hol? Keeping everything crossed for you.

@lookingforadvice123 gosh you have a good memory. The only one I can think of was the super prem baby but couldn’t remember why he was early but yes doing absolutely fine now I think!

I’m starting to worry a little that my screening result only had the downs one in... MW appt isn’t for another few weeks but I have several other scans before that so hoping all is well!

Bluelagoon25 · 30/08/2018 08:48

@powkin Sending my love to you and hoping you get some answers soon.

I never thought I would feel so anxious during this second trimester, sickness etc completely gone and can't yet feel baby so just feel worried if everything is ok.

We have our appointment in the next hour to listen to the heartbeat and I'm so nervous that somethings going to be wrong... so weird as I'm not normally a worrier!

At least the sickness etc although awful were reassuring...

AliceRR · 30/08/2018 10:40

@Bluelagoon25 I feel like this too. I was so anxious up until 12w scan (which I had to wait til nearly 14w for) and now a couple of weeks have gone by and I’m worrying a bit although not as much as in first tri. Looking forward to feeling baby moving!

twiglet · 30/08/2018 11:06

@powkin sorry to hear I hope you get answers soon. Some NHS trusts offer genetic counselling depending on what the Dr's say.

I have my 16 wk appointment this afternoon (at 17 weeks) I'm glad we booked a scan for Sunday as like others feeling in that arkward stage. I have quite bad hip pain developing already so hoping the midwife will refer me to the physio.

Baby160P · 30/08/2018 11:19

@Bluelagoon25 you aren't alone, ours 16 weeks is Wednesday and I feel very anxious.

jeanzbeanz · 30/08/2018 11:27

I'm having niggling anxious feelings too, I last heard the heartbeat at my 16 wk appt which was nearly two weeks ago, and it's still nearly three weeks til my 20 wk scan. Wish I could feel the baby move so I know it's alright!

Bluelagoon25 · 30/08/2018 11:32

I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel these things!

We had our appointment and heard baby's heartbeat which was amazing and so reassuring.

We've got an early private scanned booked for Sunday to find out gender!

Baby160P · 30/08/2018 13:19

@Bluelagoon25 I'm glad you've heard the heart beat. I hope we do as the placenta is anterior which I'm not sure if it affect the hearing, 😩

twiglet · 30/08/2018 15:11

Appointment went well got a referal to the physio for my hip. My NHS is another one that doesn't listen to the heartbeat at 16 weeks. They also confirmed that they don't test for Edwards in Scotland as part of the 12 week scan.
We have a gender scan booked for Sunday so will get another look then 🙂

Baby160P · 30/08/2018 15:33

@twiglet that's a shame I need to confirm that mine do listen or there is no point in my OH going really. 🤔

Baby160P · 30/08/2018 15:36

If there was anything 'bad' come up in the blood would you have got a call?

It says the 16 week appointment is to discuss them.... what is there to discuss?

twiglet · 30/08/2018 15:47

@Baby160P we spent about 30 seconds on that (and I asked about Edwards test) rest was how I was doing, a discussion on breast feeding, referal to the physio and a few questions I had about flying and holiday. It was more of a general catch up but that could just be my NHS!

FrowningFlamingo · 30/08/2018 15:53

I've had my 16wk appt today, they just went over my complications as it was a consultant appt, agreed to a section and that was about it. I have a very good haemaglobin apparently, they were impressed Grin

FrowningFlamingo · 30/08/2018 15:55

Oh, and they did listen in, she warned me that it's sometimes hard to find but that they have a scanner in clinic so would do a quick scan if they couldn't find it - so I don't know if the midwife would have listened in if I was just with them.

MrsSnootyPants2018 · 30/08/2018 16:54

@FrowningFlamingo listening this early just be at the midwifes approval as I had my 14 wk appointment this week and she have it a go. We found it but she gave me verbal disclaimer to say she may not find it.

Baby160P · 30/08/2018 17:15

Ok thanks all. A bit annoying they don't say if they do or don't check as my OH will have the afternoon off and pointless him doing so if we don't.

I've warned him I'll be booking a private scan if we don't lol

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 30/08/2018 19:20

16 weeks today... front and side. I think I’m obviously pregnant rather than just fat! 😂
