Think we've decided on our boys name but hubby doesn't like my fave girls name 😩

DragonFlew · 28/08/2018 21:36

I uploaded my scan pic to several nub 'experts' and they've all said boy!

Yakadee · 28/08/2018 21:50

@DragonFlew - are you finding out? When is your scan (if yes) x

UndercoverLauren · 28/08/2018 21:50

@maxiflump1 @Alicejj8x @Notquiteagandt
Yep, it's totally down to the individual :) I figured it made sense to make people aware of any warnings/recommendations, provided they're from a reliable source.

DragonFlew · 28/08/2018 21:54

@yakadee yes we will find out at 20w on 12th oct. Are you?

Heavystream · 28/08/2018 21:55

Hi all, we have our sex scan in 3 weeks. We have three boys already so most likely another boy, I feel like it is aswell!.

We’ve completely ran out of boys names now, we have an Arthur, Lorcan and John already. If we have a girl she will be called Winnie Rose.

jeanzbeanz · 28/08/2018 22:09

Just ordered the Dreamgenii pillow that a PP recommended. Can't wait for it to come!

I ran out of my homeopathic stuff over the weekend... and I have started throwing up daily again! Have ordered some more which should be with me tomorrow. I have to admit I'm a (unwilling) convert to homeopathy. I asked them to recommend something for my insomnia too. Fingers crossed it works!

DeliberatelyGinger · 28/08/2018 22:14

Just found out my grandfather, who left when my Mum was six weeks old, was better known by our back up name which is kinda putting me off. Still no definite choice for a boy anyway.

Lulabell1 · 28/08/2018 22:17

Ok i feel absolutely huge compared to everyone else with your cute little bumps 16+1

I have Isla Sydney North so i need a boys name to match Isla and her middle name is after my brother and DP grandad Sidney. Boys names are very very hard Hmm

jeanzbeanz · 28/08/2018 22:44

Seems like I'm in the minority - there's a few boys names I like enough to use (but no clear favourite yet!) but I find girls names really difficult!

Baby160P · 28/08/2018 23:02

My OH had a tummy bug last week which I appear to have caught.

Will I need to contact Doctors as pregnant or all be ok? 🙈 paranoid

Surprisedmom · 28/08/2018 23:28

@powkin good luck tomorrow, I really hope it’s nothing to worry about and they’re able to put your mind at ease so you can go on holiday and enjoy your pregnancy.

Regarding names I have found one positive in my ex not being involved - nobody has veto rights! I’m about 95% sure of my boys name choice as it’s the only one I really love (middle name will be after my grandad). Girl’s names I have several i’m torn between, the biggest problem is that my favourite is the female version of my brothers name and I don’t know if that’s really ok.

On the buying stuff front i’ve bought a bunch of cute things which could be for either a boy or girl (i’m not a pink or blue person anyway and girls can have dinosaurs imo even if they’re only in the boys clothing section in stores). But I also have all the baby clothes my mom kept from me and my sibling including the cardigan we wore the day we were born, blankets that were for my uncle and things knitted by my gran (baby’s great gran). I’m really happy my baby is going to have a lot of heirloom clothing and it means I don’t have to buy much either.

FrowningFlamingo · 29/08/2018 06:55

@Baby106P as long as you're drinking plenty of fluid and still peeing plenty you should be fine - there's not a lot the doctor can do about it really :/ hope it passes quickly though - how long was your DH ill for?

My bump looks more like yours, @Lulabell1 and it's only my first! I needed to wear a coat yesterday for the first time in ages and it wouldn't do up! I'm loathe to spend loads of money on maternity clothes though.

DragonFlew · 29/08/2018 07:20

This will be my third DS (if it is a boy as is looking likely!). I struggle so much with names - where do you find inspiration?

GemmaK1 · 29/08/2018 07:40

Hi ladies.....I am totally new to mumsnet and would love to join your thread....I am due 25th February. So pleased to be in Tri 2!

Baby160P · 29/08/2018 07:49

@FrowningFlamingo thank you. He had it from Monday last week and still hasn't completely gone. (9days) 😩 still drinking plenty though and eating little and often

Baby160P · 29/08/2018 07:53

Name wise we've decided straight away a boy and girl name but haven't told anyone as we are finding out the sex and then there is no surprise if everyone knows the name already. That's my theory anyway.

Lookingforadvice123 · 29/08/2018 08:01

Ye Baby160P I'm with you, we won't be telling anyone in RL our name. Don't mind on here! People always have something to say and my mum was trying to guess the choices we've got for a boy and literally went through a massive list of names, mentioned both of them and made some negative comments on both! So it'll absolutely be a surprise and they'll just have to deal with it!

FrowningFlamingo · 29/08/2018 08:47

Oh gosh Baby106P 9 days is a long time and yours might be a bit longer as you're pregnanct. Sending you immune boosting thoughts!
We have also decided not to tell people the name we choose, will probably discuss shortlists though. We may not choose for sure until he's here though. I don't know if we should tell people we've decided not to tell them or if we should just say we haven't decided.

hayley013 · 29/08/2018 09:00

Oh names! I haven't a clue, we have a Heidi so I don't really wanted another name ending in 'ee' sound if you know what I mean? And surname begins with an S so don't want a name ending in S as it becomes a little hard to say 😂😂 I've just read that back and probably sound silly haha. That said, I do quite like Oscar for a boy x

AliceRR · 29/08/2018 09:05

@GemmaK1 welcome!

@powkin good luck today

I have a girls name I really like (the one I my colleague has just named her son!) but DH is not keen atm. No boys names I’m in love with.

Not sure whether we are finding out the gender. My scan is end of Sept and I think it would be nice to have a surprise but DH wants to find out and I wonder whether I’ll just get excited and want to know.

Who do I message about the FB group? Sorry I know were asking yesterday but I can’t remember!

lanalawr · 29/08/2018 09:06

We agree on a girls name but haven't chosen a middle name. For a boy, DH doesn't like my favourite name but we know what the middle name would be. We find boys names really hard and have quite different taste in names. I think it makes a difference if you're from different areas. We come from opposite ends of the U.K. more or less and the names I would never consider are thought of as good names where he's from and vice versa. We won't be telling anyone our choices other than possibly our parents and my sister (which we did last time). My parents would never say anything bad about our name choices but his mum finds it harder to hide her thoughts. At the end of the day it's our decision (but I do need to try to convince DH on my boys name Grin).

lanalawr · 29/08/2018 09:07

@AliceRR I think one of the people for Facebook is @FrowningFlamingo

Jesscaar · 29/08/2018 09:09

I think I may have felt baby move yesterday, but I'm not 100% sure - it could just be me reading too much into any sensation in that area! I'm 17 weeks now, when's the earliest you've felt baby move in your first pregnancy?
