@powkin crossing fingers for good news for you xx

Alicejj8x · 29/08/2018 16:13

@AliceRR
Yeah my notes don't say anything on the position so I'm taking it that It's all ok but I will check again at my scan

Yakadee · 29/08/2018 16:14

@powkin - thinking of you xx

powkin · 29/08/2018 16:28

Hi all,

So it’s not looking like it’s going to be good news. My b-HcG levels were 12 MoM at 13 weeks which by all accounts seems to be off the charts. The pap alpha was also higher than normal. The scan looked fine but they suspect Edwards syndrome so did a CVS. I’ll find out next week but I’m not at all hopeful as the way the doctor was talking about surgical termination already. I know he has to prepare me but the tone gave me very little hope.

We are meant to be flying to America on Saturday so this is horrible timing. I’m not sure what we’ll do if we get the bad news on holiday.

Notquiteagandt · 29/08/2018 16:31

@powkin thinking of you. Flowers a holiday may be a blessing in discuise as some time just you as a couple to digest any news etc. But I really hope it is good news for you and you can have a well needed relax.

hayley013 · 29/08/2018 16:42

@powkin sending lots of love and positive thoughts for you xxxx

maxiflump1 · 29/08/2018 16:42

Oh @powkin I'm sorry to read your update. No really words that will male you feel any better just sending lots of positive vibes your way. Do you have travel insurance if you decide not to go?

@Picklesandpies sorry you ended up in hospital. Hoping you're feeling better now.

@maxiflump1 - we have insurance bought before I knew I was pregnant so doubly covered. We’ve read the terms, I think we could definitely claim to come home early but not sure about not going as at the moment they simply don’t know. The scan looks normal so there’s no definitely answer. Insurance is so technical, I’d have to ask the doctor here to recommend I don’t travel, which I’m sure they’d do for me if I wanted... but if everything is ok then we’d probably be sad we didn’t go.

GemmaK1 · 29/08/2018 17:09

@powkin sorry to read this update, I really hope you get some better news with your CVS result. xx

GemmaK1 · 29/08/2018 17:14

@dragonflew - hello! How fab to have a due date buddy on here Smile

I have emerged from the Tri 1 fog now, so I'm feeling quite good. I have my first consultant appointment tomorrow as I had Pre Eclampsia with my first, so I am waiting to hear how they will manage things this time. My BP never came down afterwards and I've had high BP (medicated) ever since, so I'm a little nervous as to how things are going to pan out. Other than that, just trying to get into enjoying Tri 2, how about you? x

Picklesandpies · 29/08/2018 17:56

So sorry to hear your news @powkin. Thanks

Picklesandpies · 29/08/2018 18:00

Thanks for the tips on iron supplements @lanalawr and @DragonFlew. I'll go for whatever is less likely to make me constipated! Does Spatone taste awful or ok?

DragonFlew · 29/08/2018 18:01

@powkin I'm sorry to read your news. Is this off the back of your screening? Did you have the screening letter back about downs/edwards/patau syndrome with your risk? I really hope you get some good news following the cvs today xx

@gemmak1 I also had Pre-eclampsia with my first (this is my third!), they did monitor my bp closely however my second pregnancy was totally normal and low risk throughout so it doesn't necessarily mean you will get it again!

UndercoverLauren · 29/08/2018 18:16

@powkin I'm so sorry. Thinking of you x

Baby160P · 29/08/2018 18:19

Sorry to hear your news. Thinking positive thoughts for you xx

Wames90 · 29/08/2018 18:20

@powkin I’m so sorry to read about what you’re going through. I hope you get some answers soon 💐

Baby160P · 29/08/2018 18:20

I'm not sure but I don't think they mention the placenta if it's exterior but they do anterior.

I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and although I don't really feel that pregnant I have to say I'm getting full up so fast! Like from starving to really full a quarter through dinner.

Anyone else?

DragonFlew · 29/08/2018 18:27

@Baby160P yes to feeling full! This is what's making me feel sick in the evenings.

However I noticed in the mornings (on an empty stomach) if I lay flat on my back and breathe in I have the cutest little bump - about the size of my hand!

Lookingforadvice123 · 29/08/2018 18:29

powkin I'm so sorry it wasn't better news at your appointment. Don't give up hope yet, but I guess it's good the doctor was overly blunt in case it is the worst case scenario.

I think the holiday might well be a good thing for the two of you to get away? Thinking of you xx

Lookingforadvice123 · 29/08/2018 18:30

I also actually think it's terrible that they didn't contact you before this point as your bloods were that concerning. They're supposed to contact you within a few days, not well over a week later.

lanalawr · 29/08/2018 18:53

@powkin I'm so sorry to hear your news. Hoping you don't have a long wait for the results.

@Picklesandpies I didn't think Spatone tasted bad but it's been years since I've used it. You mix it with juice (can use any but orange juice aids absorption if you like it) so it tastes mainly of that anyway.

powkin · 29/08/2018 19:01

@DragonFlew @Lookingforadvice123

I got confused, they are actually looking for triploidy, which is no better. I never got the screening letter, but they had it when I went in and put it in my file. The results for the others were low risk but it said in the bottom that the hormones suggested triploidy or a kidney issue. I think maybe I fell between two stools, they didn’t send me the results as they were worrying, but I wasn’t high risk for the normal things.

GemmaK1 · 29/08/2018 19:13

@dragonflew - oh thats good to know....I'm hoping for a nice drama free time as last time was anything but!! Just going to go with the flow though!

@baby160p I'm the same with the eating too!

Lookingforadvice123 · 29/08/2018 19:16

Sorry powkin, I hope you get your screening results back ASAP so you know where you stand.

Don't give up hope. I have heard of HCG being very high, since2016 might remember a girl on our thread back in 2015 who had similar, turned out it was a placenta issue (this also happened to a colleague). The girl on our thread ended up having her baby delivered very early but he survived and is doing extremely well by all accounts.

DragonFlew · 29/08/2018 19:18

@powkin I can't believe it has taken them so long to ring you! I think your scan was the day after mine and that was 2 weeks ago.

I have everything crossed that you get good news following the CVS today.
