Man, I really want fajitas now! That's going on the request list for the weekend for sure....

@BadBadBeans well done for sharing the news! Aaaaand relax! It's lovely they are approaching it with the same enthusiasm. How lovely; and you must feel relieved having it out in the open.

@puravida31 any luck with the scan date??

I think I'm starting to come back out the other side symptoms wise... not as nauseous or tired. Still waves but they seem less intense. Fingers crossed!

Jadeelx · 26/07/2018 22:15

Ive started craving the same things I craved with my son. This eve I really fancied those cheap instant ramen noodles and my husband actually went out to an Asian food store and picked me some up!! I really don’t want to let myself go as I gained so much weight last time, but it so hard not to let yourself have those things you crave 😱🙈

coastergirl · 26/07/2018 22:17

PS I just cannot bring myself to use the mumsnet shorthand, sorry!

Velcro88 · 26/07/2018 22:24

And sorry, welcome newbies! Congratulations.

@coastergirl sounds like a potentially delicate situation but I'm sure you'll work out the best way through. Sounds like you're feeling confident and happy so many congratulations! You've got this!

@Jadeelx with you on the instant noodles crave. I've already gained a dress size I think which is incredible and bringing me down a little bit: it's definitely tummy wobble and not baby bump!! Has been so hard when food (esp carbs) have seemed the only thing to stem the nausea! I've been eating like a HORSE...

coastergirl · 26/07/2018 22:29

@Velcro88 Thank you! It is delicate but I'm quickly realising that I'm really happy about this. I was very lucky last time in that I had no nausea whatsoever. But right at the end I had horrendous itching and gestational diabetes. I'm going to try to be really healthy in the hope that I avoid that this time.

pushit · 26/07/2018 22:47

@thefirsttimer & @Olivia2019 I'm 9+5 - but cos of my long cycles nhs calculator says I'm due 3rd March. Got my 12 week scam on the 14th Aug...

Jadeelx · 26/07/2018 22:51

@Velcro88 everything in moderation, right? I mean it is stressful if we deny ourselves so I figure we can have a little of what we fancy here and there 😋😋 I am trying though!

Angelmiracle · 26/07/2018 23:06

Honestly if I could have easily delivered fajitas I would have there's a lot of leftovers 😂

@coastergirl congratulations maybe this is just your time for much happiness after a very tough time you must've had!

@ladycarlotta yeah do not understand going off chocolate wtf its my biggest pleasure in life 🤣🍫

Its being replaced with chewits, toast and jam, spring onion crisps, and chicken curry with rice. Salty items and also using vinegar loads?!

coastergirl Welcome that sounds like you have an awful lot going on here’s to a happy pregnancy

I was also awake from about 4am and now I really don’t want to get up.

Newbie2703 · 27/07/2018 07:13

Is anybody planning on working through as much of the pregnancy as possibly ? Any tips and I have no idea when is best to tell my employer. My job is very active and I work with animals.

Wineandchoccy · 27/07/2018 07:17

Newbie2703 Last time I finished just over 38 weeks planning to have 2 weeks off but thought I would have longer being my 1st but she had other ideas and came early so I had 6 days off.
It worked out good that I had longer off with dd but I was very tired at the end but I hope to do very similar this time.

RachaelT · 27/07/2018 07:33

@Newbie2703 - I hope to work up to the birth - although I still have 2.5 weeks holiday to take before April so am going to see if I can tag them onto the front so I get a few weeks before but as much ML after as possible. Been asked to think about when I'm taking these holidays by my boss and I calmly said I needed to check the dates for something I want to do in the holiday then I'd let him know... not lying was I?

On another note: It hurt to lay on my left side in bed this morning and DH and I were having a chat and only laying on my left could I see him and have eye contact which I wanted so he sat up at the end of the bed across from me - was so close to tears that he just got it 😍

HidCat · 27/07/2018 07:37

@coastergirl congratulations! Welcome to the group.

@Newbie2703 yes I plan to work right through if things go well. Last time worked to 39+5 left at 5pm and started labour at midnight! Exactly what I was hoping for but came as a bit of a shock as was supposed to work one more day lol. They prep you for going late on your first, they lied 🤥

Newbie2703 · 27/07/2018 07:52

Thanks guys ! That's reassuring thought I was being silly trying to stay in work so long. They do put you on light duties I think, but I don't want them to do that too early so I'll hold off telling them as long as possible.

MistakenHoliday · 27/07/2018 08:00

@ladycarlotta I've been the same with chocolate - absolute madness! I've been having cravings for broccoli of all things and am finding that bananas are making me feel particularly 🤢

@Newbie2703 I worked up to 38 weeks last time, although I put my due date as my official last day and left a week early (midwife instructions). I wanted to maximise the time of afterwards as much as I could. DD ended up being a week late though so I had two weeks of relaxing which was lovely!

angel0071987 · 27/07/2018 08:10

Someone just recommended me this for morning sickness.

Quease Ease for Anti Nausea, Travel Sickness (Car, Sea, Plane) Morning Sickness https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0015N9NJA/ref=cmswwrcppapi_KtSwBbD1D16C4

Seems quite expensive to me for what it is but may be of some help. Anyone tried it?

Murphyrocks · 27/07/2018 08:11

@Newbie2703 I working right through with ds, went off 2 days before due date although he was 12 days late, but looking back I feel like maybe I pushed myself too hard (blaming myself for DS's medical issues post-birth even though I know it wasn't my fault) so I think I might try and finish a few weeks early this time, maybe save up holidays rather than start mat leave.

Marmite2018 · 27/07/2018 08:21

@angel0071987 I reckon you could probably make that for cheaper! Seems to be: lavender oil, peppermint oil, ginger oil and spearmint oil!

essentialoilsanctuary.com/morning-sickness/ there are some nice aromatherapy ideas here!! I'm tempted to do the same. I've discovered the heat is my worst enemy. Managed half an hour walking in scorching Florence yesterday to have to quickly dive into a restaurant and puke. It knocked me for most of the day after that :(. It's so horrible. Hopefully only a few more weeks of it...

Murphyrocks · 27/07/2018 08:34

@Marmite2018 I like the idea of using essential oils but yes you could probably make that yourself for cheaper!

Also you'll all be glad to know that our rat friend is no more - the offending cat who inflicted it on us caught it just now and threw her outside with it. Currently playing with the half dead thing out in the garden which is pretty distressing but at least it's no longer in my living room 🤢 good timing as we go away for the weekend in a few hours! Camping in the middle of thunderstorms in the lake district, could be interesting...

Bluebelltulip · 27/07/2018 08:35

I finished at 35 weeks last time as it was at a good point work wise and I had a lot of holiday left. This time I'm actually going to be finishing at 25 weeks because my temporary contract finishes and decided I didn't know want to get another to fill the gap, may get a small extension but don't know yet.

My sickness is absent this morning which is slightly unnerving not worry about baby particularly but feel it's lulling me into a false sense of security.

Velcro88 · 27/07/2018 09:44

@Murphyrocks congrats on losing the rat and keeping your cool!! Good luck for your camping weekend; hopefully the rain will be sporadic and doesn't dampen enthusiasm!

Velcro88 · 27/07/2018 09:48

I'm roughly thinking I'll work to 38 weeks and add on any leave I have to try to go sooner. I'm so over my job at the moment so I've mixed feelings about wanting to make ML start as soon as poss whilst also wanting to keep as much of it for time with baby. I haven't quite got my head around the idea of actually having a baby, mind you... that's one good thing about it taking so long to grow one!

ladycarlotta · 27/07/2018 09:49

@MistakenHoliday now you say that, I could really go for some broccoli. I don't want fried stuff either. DP keeps suggesting chips and just - bleurgh.

@MurphyRocks good news about the rat! Your cat must be an absolute warrior to take it on. I've had a couple of ragamuffin ex-stray cats who would have - one used to take down pigeons and squirrels - but rats are vicious little buggers.

Got a private scan today! Really looking forward to (hopefully) seeing something a bit more like a baby in there, cross your fingers everything is doing what it ought. DP's brother and his wife are coming for the weekend, so if all goes well we'll tell them.
