Sorry, I appear to be spamming the post. Realised I hadn't cropped the last image so I've asked for it to be removed, so my second attempt is attached. Hopefully I've got the right one this time!

Ok ladies I have organised a surprise baby shower for my sister this weekend at my house. I have never been to one or had one. She's visiting from Aussie and is 7 months so mainly doing it as none of her family or friends will be there when she has the baby 🙁

Off eBay I ordered decorations: balloons, banner, bunting, favour bags, table cloth, Who knows Mum best quiz and Baby Prediction cards (she doesn't know what she's having). Her friends and myself all doing bit of food each: sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, traybakes, cupcakes, cheesecake, crisps dips and nuts, apple tart and custard. May see about a nice cake also. I have pink and blue party plates and some napkins. I'm going to stick up baby photos of her and her DP. And one friend is getting a guest book so we can all write her a nice message to take back with her. Is anything missing I've left out?? Drinks wise what do you recommend tea coffee and shloer/soft drinks?

That sounds so nice @Angelmiracle If you are doing presents, you could ask each guest to bring their favourite children’s story. If not, you could ask them to write it down on a list and you could potentially send her a bundle of them when the baby arrives.

HidCat · 14/08/2018 16:50

@BadBadBeans OMG I love that you DS did that - so embarrassing but so cute!

I always rinsed vests etc after leakage before putting them in the main wash so I don't see how using reusable wipes would be any different. Again though, getting oh to use them might be tricky. My only experience of reusables in the old folded cloth ones with the rubber knickers. Do you still need rubber knocks or do they have waterproof outer layers now?

@MisBit1 and @toastfiend great to hear you've had good scans. Honestly though between the full bladder and bloating it's surprising they don't have to clean up after us all in the scan room!

@Angelmiracle that all sounds fab! If the budget will allow could you do mocktails?

Marmite2018 · 14/08/2018 16:53

@Angelmiracle have done lots of baby showers for friends and we've often done flavoured water. Lots of berries or cucumber and mint or lemon mixed with water. Really easy to keep on top of because you just need to refil the water. We've used those big kilner jar water jugs before but you can also just use jugs!

Wineandchoccy · 14/08/2018 16:54

Welcome to the new Marchers we are getting busy now.

Shame we can’t merge this thread with the other March thread

Wineandchoccy · 14/08/2018 16:57

@MisBit1 and @toastfiend great news on the dating scans

hamandpease · 14/08/2018 17:02

@toastfiend congrats! Do you have to go back again then for then to measure the fold?

hamandpease · 14/08/2018 17:02

(FYI re the list I think @frenchgal might be in the wrong spot)

frenchgal · 14/08/2018 17:07

@hamandpease yes so my dates got adjusted with my first scan, was originally 1st March.

Was unclear this was exclusive group - thanks :)

toastfiend · 14/08/2018 17:18

Unfortunately they won't redo it, so we are going to have to look at other options for our stubborn little bean! The options they have given us are for a blood test on the NHS, which apparently is a less accurate check and will only detect a likelihood of Down's Syndrome and not Edward's or Patau's Syndrome, or a Harmony Test done privately. Think DH and I will have a chat about it later to decide. Smile

Either way, it was lovely to see bean moving about. It did lots of indignant bouncing when we tried to get it to move, but stayed resolutely on the wrong side, so apparently it takes after its father in terms of stubbornness. Grin

hamandpease · 14/08/2018 17:26

@frenchgal that wasn't what I meant at all only that you should be near the top

frenchgal · 14/08/2018 17:27

@hamandpease thank you and sorry for confusion. Here are the hormones :)

ladycarlotta · 14/08/2018 17:27

@angelmiracle @marmite2018 those big Kilner water dispenser thingies are reduced to clear at my local sainsburys - might be worth a look?

@toastfiend look at that scan! Fantastic! @misbit1 so cute that it was bopping away in there. Midwife told me that if they couldn't do the nuchal fold measurement they'd take blood at 16 weeks - is that the same in every trust? Glad it's all going well for you both anyway.

hamandpease · 14/08/2018 17:27

@toastfiend that's a shame, I'm surprised thy won't tbh, perhaps try your midwife rather than the tech? Giant looking bean though congrats again!

ladycarlotta · 14/08/2018 17:30

@toastfiend I mucked up the tags in my last post about the boogying baby. Call it baby brain, sorry!!

Clairemcd13 · 14/08/2018 18:07

@MoosterTheMoose yeah we are indeed. What month/year is your daughter. Mine is july 2014

Clairemcd13 · 14/08/2018 18:20

Do yous think I should book for another 12 week scan. When i went to my 12 week scan i found out I wasn't as far on as I thought, baby only measuring at 9 weeks, which adds up to my 1st early scan I thought i was 9 weeks to be told baby was measuring at 6. They said they would call me back but next appointment is with the consultant at 15 weeks then got my 20 week scan date but i will only be 19+5 when i go for it, so dates all over the place at the mo

puravida31 · 14/08/2018 18:25

Congratulations on the scans ladies 😀 @toastfiend that’s an awesome picture, I’m so excited / nervous about ours next week!

Also welcome to all the new Marchers, it’s looking like a very popular month to have babies!

ladycarlotta · 14/08/2018 18:42

ClaireMcd13 I reckon they should give you another 12 week scan given that they couldn't have got the nuchal fold measurement from the 9 weeks - if not, I'd get a private one if you feel you want to.

ladycarlotta · 14/08/2018 18:50

Oh, and @MoostertheMoose, I'm not showing a bump, but I put on a sundress I've worn quite a lot this summer the other day and oh my goodness my boobs were OBSCENE. They must have grown heaps in just the last two weeks - they were busting out. So I'm sure there will be a lot in my wardrobe I already don't fit bust-wise. I bought a couple of drapey jersey dresses that should see me through while it's still hot.

My usual jeans are high-waisted skinny ones and I've not even bothered to try to put them on since I got the BFP, partly through bloating but mostly because of the heat. I'm resigned to not wearing them again this side of childbirth. Hoping my jeggings will hold out though. I don't think I'll get a bump yet, it being first baby, but I definitely can't suck my tummy in any more so I probably do look chunkier.
