@Babybeany it was £49.50 from Amazon. I thought I would be obsessed with it too but tonight was only the third time I have tried to find the heartbeat. I think as long as you use it knowing it isn't always possible to find it then it doesn't mess with your head too much.

Babybeany · 31/07/2018 22:35

@craftymum01 thank you. Seeing as it’s payday tomorrow for me I might have a little shop! X

LookingAtTheStars89 · 31/07/2018 23:52

Has anyone else been told they have an anterior placenta?

IndiX · 01/08/2018 06:29

@LookingAtTheStars89 yes the sonographer Sao the other day that she thinks I have an anterior placenta. I had a posterior placenta with my DD but she said it doesn't make much difference in her experience. I ave my nhs scan on Wednesday so will ask then x

fizzledays · 01/08/2018 06:43

@powkin I'm jealous, I'm still so off food!! Can't remember the last time I ate anything properly healthy and I'm usually all about the veggies and salads! I have such a beige diet right now 🙈🙈 11+4 so hoping it'll ease soon.
Scan Monday eeeek!

Picklesandpies · 01/08/2018 06:54

@LookingAtTheStars89 I was told I have an anterior placenta at my scan the other day. Think they just keep an eye to check it doesn't move down and cover the cervix and also it means you may not feel movement so early.

Picklesandpies · 01/08/2018 08:16

@IndiX I really hope this doesn't come across the wrong way as I know you had good intentions but I've woken up feeling a bit flat today - thinking the surprise of whether we are having a boy or a girl has been slightly ruined. I know you were just trying to be helpful - I've umm and ahhed over whether to post this but I thought I would so as not to have the same happen to anyone else (not necessarily by you of course, just in general.) I had never looked into nub theory and would never have tried to figure it out as this is last baby for us and really wanted a total surprise. I know it's not 100% accurate but seems to be fairly accurate at the gestation I had my scan. Just feel a bit deflated (not that I would be disappointed to have a girl - just didn't want to have any inkling.) I really don't mean to make you feel bad - just thought this would save anyone else feeling the same. I know you just meant it in a happy, lighthearted way Thanks

IndiX · 01/08/2018 08:23

Oh god I'm so sorry @Picklesandpies I feel terrible. Honestly I didn't mean to ruin the surprise at all for you, I always think of the nub theory as a bit of fun and nothing certain ( I was convinced with my DD that she was a boy!). Please don't take my ( non expertise) opinion as definite.
I definitely won't be sharing it again, learnt my lesson.
So sorry again.

Picklesandpies · 01/08/2018 08:37

Thanks @IndiX - it's honestly fine Thanks. I'll probably forget about it anyway - and it was my choice to put my scan pictures up. We have probably both learnt something there Grin. Like I say, I really don't want to make you feel terrible as I know you only meant it in a fun way. No hard feelings Smile. I'll be sure to let you know whether you were right Wink!

MakeLemonade · 01/08/2018 08:42

Don’t know if this will help or not - and just my view of course - but I think nub theory is a bit rubbish, my friends and I have tried it with six babies in last 18 months and it has been right once (worse stat than law of averages would produce!). Possible we are all just really bad at it of course but even the ones we thought were so clear, ultimately weren’t right.

If it was that accurate and easy to do then sonographers would do gender scans at 12 weeks, they don’t as the structures are very unclear, develop at different rates etc and if they as experts wouldn’t hazard a guess, then I think it’s no more or less ‘fact based’ than people guessing from how you carry, cravings, dangling a necklace over your belly etc.

I wouldn’t be shopping for your pink babygros just yet Grin

Re: home Dopplers. Treat them as a bit of fun but DON'T assume the baby's okay based on the heartbeat.

Picklesandpies · 01/08/2018 08:58

Thanks @MakeLemonade - that does help! I'm sure it is just a bit of fun and not to be taken too seriously (I'm probably being a bit over sensitive to be honest.) I think I just need to read about some people who were wrong as all the ones on MN tend to be people who guessed correctly!

Picklesandpies · 01/08/2018 09:03

I have a doppler by the way - it's nice to be able to listen to the heartbeat (and I do think it's quite easy to tell what that is once you know). However, that article is absolutely right, I would never use that to reassure me if I was having other symptoms that didn't seem right and always get checked out. I don't think they need to be banned but I do think people should be more aware of the risks of using it instead of a health professional.

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/08/2018 09:24

Hehe I agree about nub theories, i see it as a bit of fun. if it was that easy there wouldn't be any need for gender scans. And even early gender scans eg at 16 weeks can be wrong! We will be having a 16 week gender scan...and then asking the sonographer to double check at the 20 week anatomy scan!

So jealous of you all having your 12 scans already when mine's not until the 14th, I should've joined the March group then I would've been first Wink so glad to hear all is well though, pics are great too!

I've got a private scan tonight, I'm 10+1 by LMP, all being well. Hoping it's ok!

Fredthespider · 01/08/2018 09:40

I have to say I was quite happy to be due at the start of Feb, the wait would have been awful otherwise!

Good luck with the scan today @Lookingforadvice123, is it your first one?

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/08/2018 09:47

Haha no fredthespider I had one at 7 weeks and one at 8 weeks! All was well so fingers crossed.

I was due 2nd Jan with DS so I was at the start of the group, it was good! Although my birthday is 9th Feb so I will be glad in the end that this baby will be due towards the end!

MakeLemonade · 01/08/2018 09:49

I was due 31st October with DD2 and joined the due in November thread as I know how impatient I am and I thought it would drive me mad always being last to do everything!

AliceRR · 01/08/2018 10:15

@Lookingforadvice123 I am 12+2 now and my scan is on 10th (so not much before yours) so I am a bit impatient too!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/08/2018 10:51

@IndiX. Oooh would you look at my pic and see what you think please?

maxiflump1 · 01/08/2018 10:58

Created a new thread ladies. See you all there!!

Lookingforadvice123 · 01/08/2018 12:08

Woohoo new thread! I did try and join the fb group but the link I got sent didn't work, so I'm sticking round here for now.

After a few days of feeling better I'm not feeling so good today, nauseous and horrible acid reflux lump is back. Not as bad as I have been so I'll take it still, but I'm wondering if it's linked to what I eat. Has anyone else found it's triggered by diet?

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/08/2018 12:10

@Lookingforadvice123. I have suffered with this! Sometimes I can even feel it in my chest Sad I think sugary carbs make it worse for me.

Alicejj8x · 03/08/2018 07:30

I'm 11
+4 today and feeling great now for the past couple days. Nausea off and on but usually in evenings.

I had a scan Monday and baby was fine in there & a heart beat of 172 so trying to remain calm and just think where I'm nearly in 2nd trimester that this is normal.

Baby160P · 03/08/2018 08:05

@Alicejj8x I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and am the same. Feeing awful In the evening but ok all day. 1 weeks 4 days until our scan 😍 xx
