Hi guys just checking in as I haven’t been on for a while. Glad to hear lots of you are starting to feel a bit better.

  • Maybe it’s your sense of smell that’s got better and your pee as always smelt of popcorn? Can’t say I’ve noticed mine lol
  • Yes to baby brain. I’m just so distracted all the time. If feel so guilty at work because my brain feels like it’s working at 20% at the mo.

Ive got my scan tomorrow and feeling really emotional about it all today. I’m just a bit down not sure why. Keep trying to remind myself it’s just the hormone roller coaster!

clairehr · 30/07/2018 18:16

@twinklingelephant Welcome! I have my 12 week scan same day as you, I'll be 12+3 so potentially very close on EDD too 😊

Congrats to all who have had scans today, how exciting!

ChloeG19 · 30/07/2018 19:13

Hi ladies! I am 12+5 today with my first baby and have just joined mumsnet. Reading your lovely comments and support for each other has really helped me with some pregnancy anxieties so thank you!Smile
I was actually 11+1 at my 12 week scan so we have to go back this Thursday for the proper screening tests and I'm getting quite nervous - has anyone had them already that can explain what happens with the scan and blood tests? Do you leave with a good idea of your risk level based on the scan or do you need to just wait for the letter?
Thanks so much in advance, I hope you're all feeling ok and enjoying the cooler weather, I know I am!

DragonFlew · 30/07/2018 19:17

@ChloeG19 welcome! Good luck for your next scan!
It varies from trust to trust on how they do your screening. With DS1 we lived in a different area and they did scan and bloods on the same day and then sent a letter out within a week with the risk factor.
Where I am now They take the bloods at booking appt and then use the scan and send a letter within a week.
If it is high risk they usually call within a few days to let you know.

hayleyfx · 30/07/2018 19:20

Thank you ladies for all the support 😊 although this pregnancy won’t last, which we have accepted, I’m making the most of being pregnant while I can. We have no date set for a hospital appointment and it could be a couple weeks. We told everybody about the pregnancy (but also asked that they wouldn’t congratulate us) and I’m proudly showing off my little bump now. I’ve accepted that bub probably won’t make it (unless we have a miracle) but part of me wants to leave it up to bub to decide when things should end - it just seems so unnatural to take tablets for it. Still very undecided as I just want as much time with this baby in my tummy as possible. However I know that probably sounds crazy, that’s my emotions talking not my logical side 🙈 I really am worried that I’ll get to the hospital and refuse to take the tablets but I’ll cross that bridge when it comes to it I guess.

Congrats to everyone with scans today, beautiful photos. & everyone still suffering with sickness I hope you all feel better soon. Mine stopped abruptly at 12 weeks so it could just be round the corner!

Baby160P · 30/07/2018 19:40

@DragonFlew I just went to Asda for milk and came out with hand soap 😩😩

ChloeG19 · 30/07/2018 19:42

@DragonFlew thanks so much! Thinking about it I did have bloods at my booking in (seems so long ago!) So one less thing to worry about Smile

Since2016 · 30/07/2018 20:03

Thank you @Baby160P that's v helpful!!

emalady · 30/07/2018 20:26

@hayleyfx glad you are having a bit of time. I would worry waiting will make it even harder but its going to be pretty rubbish whatever. Hope you continue having plenty of support.

Congratulations on the scans today for those who had them.

I haven’t noticed a change to my wee but I generally seem to smell a bit different, sweat and downstairs. Bit odd. Not worried about it but very strange, I assumed it was the progesterone gel but stopped that now.

Tumon · 30/07/2018 20:43

All was well in the scan thankfully! Much more real nowShock. Due date is 11th Feb so 12 weeks on the nose today.
I know it was asked already but anyone else in SW/SE London?

@hayleyfx I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I hope you are being taken of and being kind to yourself. It’s just a crappy thing to go throughSad

maxiflump1 · 30/07/2018 21:07

@hayleyfx you write so eloquently about what is happening to you. I can't even imagine what you are going through. I hope you have as much support in real life as you do on MN. Best of luck for whatever happens next. Thanks

@hayleyfx you are so positive and sound like such a lovely woman. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. Do whatever feels right for you. Have been thinking about you a lot xx

FrowningFlamingo · 30/07/2018 21:20

@tumon I'm north Kent so not a million miles away. I was living in Woolwich until very recently.

@hayleyfx do things in your own time and at your own pace - only you can know what feels right for you. Have been thinking of you, you seem to be coping amazingly well xx

Notquiteagandt · 30/07/2018 21:24

@hayleyfx your strength is inspiring and so admirable. Follow your heart. Take your time Flowers

powkin · 30/07/2018 21:39

Does anyone else have a muscular sort of pain sort of in line with their pelvic bones? It all feels really tight, especially getting up and down from a chair! Such a weird feeling I’m not sure if I should be worried or not!

thismeansnothing · 30/07/2018 22:43

Wow 4 days off grid and this thread has moved on loads.

All I can say is music festivals and the first trimester isn't a great match. Long days, lots of walking, poor sleep, constant nausea and festival toilets aren't for the faint hearted. But still managed to drag myself through and enjoy it the best I could.

I'm now going to sleep for a fortnight

Since2016 · 31/07/2018 05:48

@hayleyfx no idea how you're being so strong but there's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to hang onto your baby for as long as possible. No matter what happens you're that baby's mum. Thinking of you xxx

sagasleathertrousers · 31/07/2018 06:26

I found a really good article by Zoe Williams about food and drink on pregnancy and it made me think about how much of the advice about what not to eat is based on absolutely no fact at all. I'll try to find the link - but basically rare meat, soft cheese etc going to do no harm at all. There have been very few cases of listeria in the past twenty years and not one has been caused by soft cheese. It's a reportable issue and it's very rare. Frozen veg on the other hand...and who would have thought not to eat that when pregnant before a few weeks ago! I was pissed off that my midwife told me not to eat smoked salmon (absolute rubbish) so I did some research...

maxiflump1 · 31/07/2018 06:58

@powkin I get that all the time especially when I get up quickly. Had it with my DS too so don't think it's anything to worry about. It's just all the muscles stretching. I get it when I sneeze as well!!!

@hayleyfx
You are honestly so so strong
I agree do what you think is best and take things at your own pace for sure

Sorry your having to go through this. Xxx

clairehr · 31/07/2018 07:32

@hayleyfx Your strength is admirable. I agree with all who have said only you know what is right for you. Take care of yourself, xxx

Babybeany · 31/07/2018 09:23

Morning mummies, I have been a bit absent from this thread for a couple of weeks. I ended up getting a little obsessed by it all and a bit addicted to the thread. I was googling pretty much everything I could, so decided to take a step away for a while. Reached 11 + 1 today. Each week feels like a milestone! Close to the end of the first trimester now! 😊

@hayleyfx what a traumatic time for you. I took the tablets last year and they induced quite a horrendous miscarriage, both physically and mentally painful. Maybe read up a bit on different side effects/symptoms? You are an amazing woman and so strong. My heart goes to you. Know that whatever decision you make will be the right one. You can’t get it wrong. X

craftymum01 · 31/07/2018 09:49

12 weeks today. Feels like I should be doing a bit of a sigh of relief. 2 days until my scan though.

hayleyfx · 31/07/2018 10:33

Thank you so much ladies for all your lovely words, you’ve really put a smile on my face 💕 I thought the decision would be simple but now being in this position, it’s so hard to not convince yourself that your baby is going to be the ‘miracle’ baby. I’m definitely still thinking things over and I’m glad I found out early so I have time. I know I’ll be fully supported either way in real life and by all you lovely ladies 😊

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up, I’m sure they’ll all go perfectly!
