Into months 7 and 8 of our pregnancies now.. this will most likely be our last 'pregnant' thread before we all have our babies!!

How did we get here? Feels like just yesterday we were waving hello from the TTC boards.

If anyone new would like to join please do, we also have a very busy (private) Facebook group for everyone due in August 2018.

@BertieBotts I've been getting lots of new pressures/movements recently. The other day I can only describe it as baby having a big stretch, felt like she was going to pop out down below but also burst through one side of ribs at the same time. Was weird!

I also have a list but an unpacked bag, must get on that!

Hi all

Due 14th Aug but little bugger is still Transverse so Elective C section it is as wont risk the turn maneuver.

this heat is killing me - us Scots aren't used to heat lol

AnyaMumsnet · 04/07/2018 12:00

Hi there everyone,

Thanks for contributing to this thread. OP has asked for it to be moved over to the antenatal clubs boards, so we'll be doing that shortly.

Emmasmum2013 · 04/07/2018 12:01

I can't wait to have this baby... I'm really looking forwards to a glass of wine and a good steak. I love being a mum but I have hated both of my pregnancies.

I've not been too bothered about the heat. There have been a couple of nights where I've thought about sleeping in the tent in the garden but other than that I've been ok. But I am one of those weirdos who will put the heating on in summer if I feel a bit of chill. I like it hot :p

louella99 · 04/07/2018 14:33

I'm due 30th August. @WaitingforToto I was the youngest in my year (end of Aug birthday) and it never held me back!

I could well end up with a September baby. Trying to mentally prepare for that, then any earlier is a bonus.

WaitingforToto · 04/07/2018 14:37

Thanks @louella99 I don't know why I keep focusing on his birthday and making it an issue! I think it's because I have lots of teacher friends who say it's really hard on the youngest ones when they start and that they spend most of reception napping. One 'friend' even said he'd probably be held back! Ridiculous comment when he hasn't even been born yet...

louella99 · 04/07/2018 14:39

@peterpanwendy how do I join the fb group please? Saw your earlier message about @E2017 but when I try to inbox I'm being told it's not a valid username

louella99 · 04/07/2018 14:42

@WaitingforToto well I do like a good nap!! Pretty silly for anyone to comment on it. The cut-off is just an arbitrary date, regardless of where it fell in the year you'd have older children and younger children in a given class. I did well at school. Also loved always having a summer holiday birthday!

YouCantBeSirius · 04/07/2018 14:44

Hi everyone, I'm due 1st of August so I'm 36 weeks today. Section is booked for 27th of July so only 23 days to go now Shock

YouCantBeSirius · 04/07/2018 14:47

WaitingForToto does that mean if your baby is born in August that they start primary school the month after they turn 4? It's a different system here in Scotland so the very youngest in the year would be 4 and a half before starting school and it's a regular occurrence for children born in January or February to defer entry until the next year.

WaitingforToto · 04/07/2018 14:58

Yes @YouCantBeSirius that's right I think (although I'm happy to be told otherwise if I'm wrong!). I think 4 and a half sounds like a sensible time to start school, but every kid is different I suppose Smile

peterpanwendy · 04/07/2018 15:21

@WaitingforToto I can't believe someone said that to you! I am a reception teacher and it honestly depends on the child you can get 2 august-borns who are completely different. As long as you support them in their learning the same you would if they were born in sept then that's all that matters. They may be slightly behind the older ones but it really doesn't matter in the long run :)

I think Scotland do it so much better though! Ours could potential start school the week after their 4th birthdays!

WaitingforToto · 04/07/2018 15:27

Thanks @peterpanwendy that's good to know, I'll make sure he's ready for it when the time comes! I was a reception teacher that said it to me! But another reception teacher said it was a stupid comment and a primary deputy head agreed. Anyway I'm sure I'm getting wayyyyy ahead of myself, I haven't given birth yet and I'm already stressing about how he'll dress himself after PE 😂🙈

peterpanwendy · 04/07/2018 16:12

@louella99 oh really? There's 2 people that can add you, hopefully they see these notifications and explain more than me, I'm a bit useless! They are @E2017 and @clementineclouds x

OP posts:
peterpanwendy · 04/07/2018 16:14

@WaitingforToto I'm the same, and after seeing it first hand I already know I'm gonna be one of 'those' mums who will practise getting dressed for/after p.e over the summer before they go 🙈

@YouCantBeSirius OMG the 27th July?!?!
This is crazy... how did it happen so fast??

Gem173 · 04/07/2018 16:58

@youcantbesirius that’s so close! I’m still not mentally prepared yet!
And I still got to move house 😂 ahhh everything seems too much to do !
I’m not bothered when my little one comes, if he’s early he’s early, if he’s late then he’s late. Would be Nice if early as I start may leave on 13th aug. However that’s also moving week so probably wouldn’t be very handy.

Hi everyone, I’ve been keeping a low profile for a bit after some bad news, but happy to say all seems well with my surviving twin, which is a girl. My due date is 1 Aug, and I’m expecting a date for a section in late July. I’m on mat leave already and been taking it easy and relaxing - a spa day yesterday (with pedicure as I can’t reach my feet) was marvellous! Glad to see you’re all keeping well - not long to go for any of us now!

Stephiewoo · 04/07/2018 17:23

Placemarking 😊

@birdy1978 been thinking of you xx

BeesKnees9 · 04/07/2018 17:47

@louella99 I had the same problem when trying to message @E2017 yesterday - just put “E2017” or “clementineclouds” without the @ and it should work Smile

Excitablemuch · 04/07/2018 18:00

Hi everyone!
I’m due 21st August but i’m Hoping that he will come a little early once I have finished school for the year! Currently directing a full scale production of hairspray with 59 kids at school so keeping busy busy busy! Super exhausted and the heat is a killer!

Think I might go for a swim tonight try and cool down.... must work out how to join the Facebook group!

Hope everyone is all good on this lovely warm day!

BertieBotts · 04/07/2018 18:57

Hey Foxtrot I'm sure I remember you from somewhere - MC threads? Or am I just being really dense and I recognise your name from here? Grin

July one is here BTW but not as active as this one... don't leave us!

Hey, birdy! It's lovely to see you back. I have thought about you often. It's great news that your little girl is doing well. Not too long to meet her now.

Children don't start school until they are 5 or 6 here in Germany. DS1 was nearly 7 because he got held until the second intake and his birthday is October. I used to think that the later start was much better but now I think 4.5 is OK as UK schools tend to have much more emphasis on learning through play and some of them do half days until Christmas which I think is nice. Here it's just full on learning and school from day 1 which can be a difficult transition for some kids (it's why they have a little assessment before school to see if they are ready).

CumbrianExile · 04/07/2018 19:01

Thanks for the new thread Peterpanwendy.

Good to hear from you Birdy. Glad your dd is doing ok.

I'm struggling today with the heat/work/DS and his hyperactiveness! Will be glad at 7.30 when he goes to bed Grin

peterpanwendy · 04/07/2018 19:11

@FoxtrotSkarloey don't worry I'm sure we'll see some July babies in this thread and plenty of September! :)

@birdy1978 I was thinking of you earlier when I was flicking back through old threads. I'm so glad your little girl is doing ok. How have you been holding up? It's such a bittersweet time x

Wow @Excitablemuch you put me to shame I can barely manage my class in this heat/being this big! Well done to you I bet you can't wait to see it all finished :)
