Into months 7 and 8 of our pregnancies now.. this will most likely be our last 'pregnant' thread before we all have our babies!!

How did we get here? Feels like just yesterday we were waving hello from the TTC boards.

If anyone new would like to join please do, we also have a very busy (private) Facebook group for everyone due in August 2018.

Congrats @Gkite enjoy newborn snuggles xx
I had my 37 week midwife appt. baby is 3/5 engaged, he’s ROL and I have to have another growth scan because yet again bump is measuring small. One midwife got 35cm and my normal one got 33cm when I should be 37cm.
Despite this I heard my baby’s heart beat on the Doppler at the midwife appt, which I didn’t think they did at my practise, so that was nice.
My back pains and under bump pains have continued and I’ve raised a concern with the midwife, she just said ‘this is normal it’s your body preparing for labour’ and reccomended a tens machine.
I’ve looked into tens machine but can only rent one from 23rd aug which is crap seeing as I would like one now to help me cope with this pain. Buying one is out of the question as proper ones are about £40-£50 and I don’t see the point in buying one.

samb1979 · 08/08/2018 22:26

Awww congratulations to all of the new little arrivals! So much happiness for you all xxx

Would like to just ask if anyone has had any side effects from steroid injections? In 37 weeks and seeing the consultant today I'm still breech and more importantly I appear to have developed intrahepatic cholestasis and they don't want to leave the c-section any longer so it's being done Friday. I only ask as I've never known him so active and thought this could be a side effect?

Gizzymum · 09/08/2018 06:05

@Gem173 I'm with you on the growth scans. I measured 34.5cm when I should be 38.5cm so have another scan today. I reckon we just carry them small (all the better for being able to put on our own socks and shoes 😜).
Have you looked on eBay for a second hand pregnancy tens machine? It may be a way of getting a cheaper one 🤷🏻‍♀️

Emmasmum2013 · 09/08/2018 07:06

@Gem173 I second having a look on eBay for a TENS machine. I've just had a quick look and the second hand ones are only about £10. New ones average about £25 but I couldn't tell you if they are decent ones, I've never used one! Apparently they're good though.

Did the midwife say the pain is related to the baby's position?

I'm full of a cold today. DD has been coughing and sniffling for a few days and now it's my turn. Gonna spend the day in bed I think. You watch, I'll go into labour later on 😂 I'll probably sneeze and my waters will break haha

Emmasmum2013 · 09/08/2018 07:12

If anyone is after a tankini for getting in the birthing pool (if that's your plan) or going swimming, Essential One have some in the sale at the moment.

www.theessentialone.com/maternity-and-nursing-clothes/maternity-and-nursing-essentials/swimwear.html

I got the Bold Spot one, ordered it on Tuesday morning and it came yesterday! It's really nice.

Gem173 · 09/08/2018 07:49

@Gizzymum
Hope your growth scan goes perfectly! I’m still awaiting a call for the date and time of my growth scan. I’m tired of pregnancy now, I just want him out.
My back is in so much pain, and my bladder is like a rogue hosepipe 😂 god you can deffo tell I’m a first time mum.
@Emmasmum2013 also thanks for reccomending eBay to get a tens machine, will look into it when on lunch at work, midwife just said the pain is normal, could be position but she said that he’s in a near enough good position for labour so I suppose it’s something I have to put up with. He’s been in this same position for weeks and weeks hasn’t moved!
I’m with you on the cold, my oh is so I’ll atm, he’s sleeping on the sofa and all I hear throughout the night is him coughing and sniffling. I feel bad for him but at the same time I can’t help but be annoyed because I really don’t want to give birth and have a cold!! xx

Gem173 · 09/08/2018 12:04

Back at home now after attempting to work. I’m in so much pain and ache. My bladder is in pain and feels under a lot of pressure. I can’t stop crying :( I’ve taken paracetamol and I’m lying down..it just seems worse. Not to mention I’ve had the shits all week. I’d believe this is early labour but my waters haven’t gone and I haven’t had a show. Sorry for being so crude ladies but at this point with pain like this I really don’t care xx

Gizzymum · 09/08/2018 13:13

@Gem173 it could still be early labour - my waters had to be broken by the midwife when I was pushing. Have you tried a warm bath to help with the pain? If you aren't managing with the pain call the maternity unit for advice - perhaps they'll examine you and you may find out you're further on that you expect, otherwise they may want to check for UTI or something else which is causing the pain. I don't accept that just cos you're pregnant you should be left to suffer. I hope you get some relief soon (or a baby 😜).

BertieBotts · 09/08/2018 13:41

YY a show isn't necessary - you can lose the plug so gradually you wouldn't notice - and neither are waters breaking. Mine broke right at the end last time and some babies are born in the sac!

If you are in pain try maternity assessment.

BlurredAmber · 09/08/2018 13:47

Oh poor you @Gem173 - that sounds absolutely miserable.
I was a little similar last week & over the weekend - a bad tummy which I blamed on some dodgy houmous 😂, the worst headache ever on Friday/ Saturday (which I called triage about as also has high blood pressure & swelling) and an absolutely dreadful mood... cue waters breaking on Monday at 10.45am and baby boy born at 8.05am on Tuesday by semi-emergency c section. Hopefully your pain just now will result in the short, safe delivery of your wee one I’m good time! It will all be worth it 😊
Congrats on the arrival of your LO @Gkite - hope all’s going well for you.
Good luck to all those overdue and hoping for last minute turns - fingers crossed for you.
Finally, apologies if I’m repeating myself at all on here - I’m still a little high on tramadol! 😅

Emmasmum2013 · 09/08/2018 14:01

Awww @Gem173 no need to apologise!

I agree with others. Try a bath, if you're not getting any relief then try the midwives and see what they suggest. Don't suffer in silence! X

Gem173 · 09/08/2018 17:07

Just an update- I tried paracetamol and although my under bump pain has gone, I still have persistent ache/pain in my lower back and right hip.
I had a bath and it done nothing the pain was still the same if not worse. I called the delivery suite for advice and they said that it sounds like SPD In my back caused by the weight of the baby. They told me to take paracetamol regularly and rest.

I’m just doing what they are saying, but am not looking forward to going into work tomorrow for my last day. Work want me in for at least half a day😂not sure how il manage since they couldn’t get two hours out of me this morning.

Emmasmum2013 · 10/08/2018 08:43

Good luck on your last day @Gem173
You can relax a bit after today :)

Gizzymum · 10/08/2018 11:30

Baby boy arrived unexpectedly and rather quickly yesterday at 4.38pm weighing 5lb 15oz.

I was in for a growth scan and as baby was just below the 10th centile I was sent for review at maternity triage. They booked me in for induction on Sat and then said they'd do a quick exam, put me on the monitor and then I could go home.

The exam showed I was 5cm dilated! They put me on the monitor and said I could go home afterwards. In 5mins I started feeling contractions and after 10mins I had to call them as I felt like I needed to 💩. I had high blood pressure so taken to the delivery suite for monitoring during labour and boom, baby was born. First stage of labour was recorded as 16min with 2nd stage at 2mins. 😱

Unfortunately DH didn't make it in time for the birth and arrived about 10mins later. We were discharged last night at about 10pm.

I'm just so glad I was in hospital when it happened otherwise I'd probably have given birth at home alone 😱😱

Oh. Wow. 😮 what an amazing birth story @Gizzymum big congratulations!!!
He's absolutely gorgeous

Hope you're doing well yourself xx

WaitingforToto · 10/08/2018 12:39

Congratulations @Gizzymum that is an incredible account of events! I'm sat here open-mouthed! All's well that ends well! What a beaut x

somersetsinger · 10/08/2018 13:16

Congratulations Gizzymum. What a cute photo. Glad you are all ok and well done on being in the right place at the right time!

Gem173 · 10/08/2018 18:03

@Gizzymum wow I bet your glad you went for the growth scan! That seemed to go so fast! Congratulations and he’s a cutie xx

Hjkillas · 11/08/2018 02:29

@Gizzymum congratulations! My labour was only 20 minutes, very overwhelming isn't it!!

Oh girls I'm on antibiotics for mastitis.. my poor boobs are twice their normal size, red hot and super solid. Doctor was very surprised I have it as I haven't breastfed. I have tried not to get them hot in the bath and haven't touch my nips at all so I don't know why it's happened 😒

GKite · 11/08/2018 06:55

Congratulations @gizzymum
@hjkillas I fear I may be going the same way, I did try to bf but lack os support and general wanting to get home made me stop, I can barely lift my arms because of my boobs, they are popping out of my DD bra, so red and hard too. Really hoping it'll just go down though Sad I did hear cabbage leaves are supposed to be good x

MamOfFrankie · 11/08/2018 07:16

Congratulations everyone on the new arrivals! Mine has still not put in an appearance after her fakery 9 days ago, but apparently I am still 3cm dilated, which I suppose is something.

Just had to suffer through my 2nd night's sleep on the sofa this week as DD1, who has been dry through the night for 4 years, wet the bed again. So tired and achey!

Sorry for the grumble, but getting a bit ticked off now, especially as all support seems to have ran for the hills in the last week or so!

Gizzymum · 11/08/2018 08:15

@Hjkillas it's all a bit of a shock when it happens that fast. With DS1 I felt detached from it all for a few hours and that was with a 2hr labour. This time it was even more surreal and the baby didn't even feel like it was mine for a good 4-5 hours.

Sorry to hear about everyone struggling with painful boobs. I'm sure I just have this joy to look forward to as I'm ff. I think it was @BertieBotts who said decongestants helped to decrease milk supply so I'm wondering if I should start taking them now 🤷🏻‍♀️

SaraLouise88 · 11/08/2018 08:34

37 weeks yesterday and I literally can't move for pelvic pain. Been like it for 3 days now 😭

Emmasmum2013 · 11/08/2018 08:43

Awww @MamOfFrankie when is your due date?

I had a tiny bit of blood in some discharge yesterday and this morning. I don't know if it's a show or what. Last time I remember having a little bleed late on in the pregnancy and going in for monitoring. They never did get to the bottom of what caused it and I didn't give birth for a few more weeks.

@SaraLouise88 my SPD has been playing up the last few days too. Moving anywhere is painful :(
