August 2018 #6 - Impending Births and The Final Push!

Into months 7 and 8 of our pregnancies now.. this will most likely be our last 'pregnant' thread before we all have our babies!!

How did we get here? Feels like just yesterday we were waving hello from the TTC boards.

If anyone new would like to join please do, we also have a very busy (private) Facebook group for everyone due in August 2018.

Congratulations @hjkillas and @TheGrumpySquirrel! I hope things have gone smoothly for you and your LOs since delivery!
I’m 37+4 today - waters broke at 10.45am so I’m currently waiting to find out if I’ll be squished in for a section today or if I’ll have to wait till tomorrow. Fingers crossed for today!🤞

Thanks @Gem173! Hope you’re feeling a little less nervous about things this afternoon - I was really worried they wouldn’t have time for a section if I went into labour before scheduled date but, touch wood, looks like it’s going to be okay 😬 Hopefully that’s a good omen for your epidural when the time comes!

So today at work I had horrendous back pain and slightly achey vagina, which seemed to come and go and the intensity increased and decreased all day. Sometimes I couldn’t stand or even sit. I took 2 tablets of paracetamol and was sent home from work early to help me relax and cope with the pain.
I get home, sit down and within half an hour the pains/aches null and stop. Typical!
My body is so playing tricks on me! 😩🤔

@WaitingforToto ..well it didn't work! However I'm really glad I tried it. It was absolutely fine, they were very efficient and reassuring. I had an injection to relax my muscles then the midwife made three attempts to turn him, the main feeling was one of pressure. There was some soreness but it was manageable. Midwife managed to get his bum up out of my pelvis, but his head wouldn't budge. So he's exactly where he was! He was monitored for an hour afterwards and heart rate was fine.

At my hospital they have a 50% success rate and he's my first which makes it less likely to work. So I was prepared for that. At least I know I couldn't have done any more to avoid a c section. Hope you're well?

Ahh well done for giving it a go @louella99! My hospital has a 40% success rate so I'm not expecting much. I might move to Tunbridge Wells, theirs is 75% apparently! I've got the detailed scan today then they'll give it a go tomorrow all being well so I'll let you know. Will you be booked in for a section then now or wait to see if he budges by himself?

@WaitingforToto I'll be booked for a section at 39 weeks (two weeks time, don't have an exact date yet) but they'll scan on the morning to see if he's turned!

Congrats to all those having babies! And good luck GKite with your c section. I think I posted on the first couple of threads briefly then found this again! Is anyone else now overdue and have absolutely zero symptoms to suggest labour is in anyway close... now 40+2 which I know is common with first babies just so annoying!!!

Good luck @GKite ! I had the ECV yesterday and thankfully it worked first time so I was really chuffed. No pain or discomfort, it was super quick. I've to have another scan next Tuesday to check he hasn't swivelled back to breech again but all being well I'll be waiting for labour to start on it's own now, I'm 37+4 now. Hope everyone else is good x

@Mintoreo sorry I’m not yet overdue as I’ve only just gotten to 37 weeks today! But i feel your frustration!
On Monday and yesterday I had severe back pain and under bump pain, the pains came in waves and happened every so often maybe 3 times an hour. But then I’d go without it for an hour. I put it down to Braxton Hicks. I haven’t had it yet today but the day is still young. I’ve also had loose stools for the past week, sometimes more than once a day.
Also my baby boy has been incredibly active the past 2 days which is weird. Seeing midwife today for my 37 week appt. so will ask her about what I’m feeling.

@waitingfortoto I’m glad it worked and your baby is now head down.
At my last midwife appt my baby was head down but for some reason I think he’s moved. Fingers crossed he hasn’t but will find out today.

Glad the baby turned, Toto. Hopefully he will feel all comfortable in his new position and you'll have a nice straightforward time from now on.

I'm 6 days overdue now, Mintoreo. Trying to be patient and let the baby come in her own time, but DD was early so this is new territory for me and is messing with my head a bit.

If anyone is wanting to join the Facebook group I suggest you get your request in ASAP. There's talk of closing the group to new members now that new baby photos and birth stories are starting to be shared (ie it's all got a bit more personal).

Hi everyone, joining this very late but wantedto say hello and congrats to all those with babies!!
Minotoreo and Somerset - I'm also overdue! 40+5 with my first and after feeling surpsingly calm about it all have spent all of today feeling fed up and weepy.

I was really hoping for a home birth, and while I've got a week or so until they want to induce it just feels more and more out of reach Confused.
On the plus side, at least the weather in the south east is so much cooler Smile
