kiteflying · 15/06/2007 12:37

Hi everyone. I won't be on much today as I seemed to lurk on mumsnet all day yesterday - was too too tired to do anything at all productive.

Wanted to say congrats to everyone who is feeling mega prepared and starting to take raspberry leaf and sympathies to everyone that is feeling the opposite.

Pink and Stretchmarks - I know exactly how you are feeling. I went home in tears last night because my hips were hurting a lot and it all just got too much for some reason. I wish I had the sort of DP that actually comforts you when you feel low for no reason instead of the sort that tells you you have no reason to feel low. Stretchmarks - eat that cheesecake, sweets to the sweet. I almost reached for a bottle of Chilean red last night!

Have a great weekend everyone.

kiteflying · 15/06/2007 12:38

Actually Pink I missed the bit about your bid being passed straight to a colleague and am on your behalf.

bananabump · 15/06/2007 13:20

Men eh, kiteflying? if they can say the wrong thing, they will. I was feeling really low and tearful the past three days or so, seems to have blown over a bit now since I managed to get some decent sleep after a week of asthma attack one night, persistant toothache the next night, hip ache the third night.... gah!

of your cheesecake, wonder if I can persuade dp to take me to asda when he gets home for work under the pretense of needing milk, and get some?

I havent done any of that "sending hubby out into the night to fetch icecream and pickles" stuff yet, I probably should while I still have the chance!

conkertree · 15/06/2007 13:51

am attempting a link - sorry if it doenst work - this is the dvd - i presume its the same betty TT but i might be wrong?

jem1969 · 15/06/2007 15:33

I was talking to a friend last night about perenial(sp?) massage (as you do). She is ttc and having acupuncture and the acupuncturist stuck a needle in her perenium! I was very shocked. Def didn't do that when I had acupuncture!
Have a nice weekend everyone and hope you all feel a bit better on Monday. I have way too much work to do and am a bit stressed. probably my fault for spending most of the last 4 weeks surfing the JL and mothercare websites as well as Mumsnet. I may have to buck my ideas up for my last 4 weeks at work because I am handing over to a friend and really don't want to leave her in the lurch. Better get back to those spreadsheets.......(no symbol for yawn)

bananabump · 15/06/2007 15:41

That sounds thoroughly unpleasant...how does puncturing something help it to stretch???? has she had the baby, did it help?

bananabump · 15/06/2007 15:42

Oh, duh, just read your post properly and saw she is ttc!

conkertree · 15/06/2007 16:14

oh i do love 4pm on a friday - only another hour before the phones stop ringing.

today has been a bit too much rushing about - hips are aching. but i just had a very tasty snowball from greggs so that helps.

tokentotty · 15/06/2007 16:21

Ahhhh just at home now after big fat stuff up lunch in the City with DH. Think I could have rolled home rather than driven !
Conker - that's not my Betty.... Was about to be spectacularly impressed if it was !

Hello, laughing about forgetting your lo's names. Last night I got as far as the checkout with trolley unloaded before I realised no purse, grrr, cue 15 minute drive home to ds and dp (hungry) before going all the way back, very unnecessary 4 way journey. Waaaaah. I have never done this in my life.

conkertree · 15/06/2007 17:03

oh well thats disappointing cause i thought she must be a really impressive age by now - there must be quite a few midwifes given OBEs and things cause this one has one too.

Hersetta · 15/06/2007 17:15

have a great weekend ladies - I'm off to Spain at the crack of dawn tomorrow and will chat to you all again on Tuesday hopefully.

Ceolas · 16/06/2007 10:34

Oh, Hersetta. Hope you have a good time!

Think I had my first BH this morning...

bananabump · 16/06/2007 12:00

Well, I have just had probably THE worst nights sleep in my life. This MUST be preparation for having him because I've never been such a light sleeper in my life. I think at this rate I'll be leaping to my feet everytime he farts.

Couldn't sleep til 3am, 4am dp started coughing and wheezing (asthma) and I couldn't wake him up enough to take his inhaler for aaages. Then I needed the loo. Got back, lay wide awake for while until I realised I was so hungry there was no possible way I'd be able to sleep. Got up and had a snack and some milk, got back in bed and my toothache came back!

I was awake til about 7am rubbing the side of my face then snatched minutes of sleep between dp's coughs and snores, baby's kicks, dp turning over and lying/leaning on the bump so I had to push him off.

I look like absolute shit! lol

Augustbride · 17/06/2007 09:49

Morning everyone! Can't believe how quickly the time is flying, I have 3 more weeks at work and am hoping that the cool weather stays for a little longer (unusual for me as I am normally a sun worshipper)

After a great midwife apt 2 weeks ago (everything measuring as it should be etc. etc) my apt on Friday wasn't quite as positive.
DS is now in breech position and midwife seems to think this is also a sign that the placenta praevia which showed up at 20wk scan has not corrected itself. Have scan at 36 weeks anyway, so should know more by then. Wouldn't mind but she then proceeded to describe the procedure to move a breech baby round - sounded terrifying, anyone any experience of this? Will be spending lots of time on all fours now to try to get things turned the natural way.

Apart from that, everything is great. Nursery nearly finished, name chosen and enjoying being papmered by DH.

conkertree · 17/06/2007 10:59

can sympathise bananbump - i didnt have the ds or toothache to contend with, but have ahd two reallybad nights in a row - mostly being in between sleep and awake for most of the night, and with such painful hips that when i did fall asleep, it would only be for 15 mins or so at a time until i woke up in pain and had to move - tried sleeping sitting up for a bit but wasnt much better.

bananabump · 17/06/2007 11:21

Hi Augustbride, sorry to hear baby is breech, still there's loads of time to persuade him to go head down. I bet someone has that link on optimal foetal positioning somewhere. I have a scan on the 26th to check growth and position, I'm really hoping he is head down and behaving himself. Not woried about growth though because he feels massive to me!

Conkertree I had another awful night, possibly worse. Didn't feel tired til about 3am, then toothache started, and dp started to snooooore right in my ear. I got very fed up and decided to make up a makeshift bed using a mattress on the floor in the spare room.

Eventually the toothache seemed to ease a bit and I was just getting comfy when I saw a spider on the wall by my head, so I made the stupid mistake of crawling on my knees to where I had an empty glass to catch him in...anyway, caught the spider but have managed to SEVERELY aggravate my SPD, I got back in bed and literally couldn't move or turn over at all. Got about an hours sleep, but today I can barely walk, which made the emergency trip to the dentist this morning fun! Hopefully toothache will be gone now anyway.

So tonight poor wheezy dp will be sleeping in the spare bed (assuming I can get up the stairs to go to our bedroom anyway) but honestly... one thing after another!!! lol

Sorry you're having sleep problems too, horrible when your hips ache, perhaps some mild stretches or a massage before bed might help? Not long now, anyway eh?

Uki · 18/06/2007 02:21

Hi Ya

Sorry to hear of the sleep difficulties

bananabump- What a nightmare, i hope you are enjoying some well earned and comfortable sleep right now

I had a bout 4 hours sleep on average, the other week, but I am making up for it now. My Ob even told me to rest more to avoid BP and headaches so I'm listening and feeling better.

The good news last week was my second GTT was negative, so i don't have gestational diabetes

I also set up baby room yesterday, so getting ready now

Augustbride- I once heard that their are alot more breech babes from computer/desk jobs, too much sitting so maybe try moving about more if that applies, hopefully plenty of time left for baby to move around.

bananabump · 18/06/2007 05:47

That's ok, Uki...who needs sleep anyway? The filling I had at the dentists has made no difference to the pain, which only seems to come when I lie down, so I've spent the night propped up with cushions in the hopes it might go away. It hasn't, and paracetamol do nothing for it (It must be some kind of exposed nerve) so I am now at a loss.

Wish I could get thoroughly, blissfully drunk if only to sleep that sortof face-down-still-in-your-clothes-and -full-makeup deep black oblivion sleep. Remember that?

On the bright side though, I'm bound to get so tired soon I just flake out on the sofa!

glad to hear your GTT was all clear, it's a relief, isn't it? Less poking and prodding, more cake. Wahey!

Ceolas · 18/06/2007 07:39

Recovering from a fall down the stairs on Saturday evening. DD had kindly left a star-shaped plastic ring about half way down.

DH is gloating about always wearing slippers

I really hurt my back. Yesterday was agony and the paracetamol wasn't really cutting it! Feels a bit better today and am debating whether to go to aqua natal...

Ceolas · 18/06/2007 07:40

Sorry to hear about all the sleep deprivation, and your toothache, bananabump

Glad the GTT was OK - still waiting to hear about mine.

conkertree · 18/06/2007 09:04

oh dear we do all sounds a bit down in the dumps this weekend - maybe its the slump between hitting the third trimester, but knowing that there are still actually a fair few weeks to go (apart from the nightmare toothache, and falling downstairs of course - hope you both find pain relief that works soon).

dh's brother is at ours just now near the end of a trip round the world (he lives in the usa) so there have been the usual rounds of family parties this weekend and so apart from the pain, found it hard to sleep with the noise from downstairs.

but am in work early, knowing i have 5 weeks to go, and that they will be busy ones, so trying to be upbeat and positive about gettting lots done today. Have deliberately not brought lunch so that i have to go for a walk at lunchtime, and so that i can buy some chocolate to eat during the afternoon. chocolate pretty much always cheers me up.

maybe we should have some top tips for cheering ourselves up. any ideas?

SweetyDarling · 18/06/2007 09:19

Augustbride,
I saw a doctor turning a breech baby on an episode of Portland Babies (or whatever it's called) on the Baby Channel, and it looked like a massage! The mother certainly didn't look bothered by it.
Obviously sometimes it's easier than others, but apparently accupuncture can be v effective. Might be worth a try?

jem1969 · 18/06/2007 09:41

Morning all
Can I join the no-sleep moaning club?!
Horrible night last night. Couldn't get comfy, wide awake and baby was kicking so hard. Feel washed out today and got in early as have loads to do.
On the positive side- on Saturday morning I had a massage lying on my front. Was the best feeling EVER. There was some sort of hole in the table and I thought it would feel as though the bump was falling but it felt amazing and could not feel the bump at all- felt like wasn't pregnant especially as baby obligingly wasn't moving around. I so miss being able to lie on my front!
Also got some baby clothes from a friend- so tiny!! I have bought some but they are still in the packet so wasn't aware quite how small they are- scary!
SIL is a GP and had a good feel of the bump yesterday and thinks baby is head down etc so hopefully she is right and it will stay there.
I think someone was asking about turning it-my friend had it done a few weeks ago and it was fine and worked (although they did say it could make her go into labour- it didn't!

lizziemun · 18/06/2007 10:01

I have found the only way i can sleep is by having a fan on me (dh hiding under the duvet like it -15 in the bedroom).

I seem to a long time to get to sleep, i can be falling asleep downstairs but by the time i'v got to bed i am wide awake.

For the last 2 night i have been woken at 4am with dd sing nursery rhymes at the top of her voice while sound asleep.
