Welcome ceolas!

lizziemun · 21/05/2007 20:35

loler

maternity exemption cert - do you mean for free perscriptions (sp) if so i got mine as soon as i went to the doctor about being pg at about 9weeks.

I had my 25 week check up with the doctor this morning was asked how much weight i had put on which is only about 7lbs and was told to try and not put on anymore and to ignore my apitite the near i get to delivery. Now i know that i am over weight but i thought i hope i don't have to see you again. I should add that my blood pressure is normal.

bananabump · 21/05/2007 21:12

Ignore that doctor, lizziemun. Ignore your appetite, indeed? There isn't a pregnancy book on earth which suggests you go hungry in the hopes of not gaining weight. All you can do is eat healthily and keep active, surely?

I'm most likely a lot bigger than you and I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow, I'll let you know if he tells me anything similar.

lizziemun · 21/05/2007 21:22

bananabump

I am going to ignore, i am eating healthly, and i walk every where i don't have a car, dd preschool is just over a mile each way.

As i said i am overweight i am 5ft2in and about 14 stone, but dd was 9lb 4oz at birth so i am expecting this one to be the same if not a bit more.

But i am not going to make myself or the baby ill.

bananabump · 21/05/2007 21:28

psh, well in that case I'm a whale compared to you! LOL Definitely don't listen to him! Silly man.

lizziemun · 22/05/2007 07:42

It was a female doctor.

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 08:00

Morning all,

Lizzemum, I can't believe anyone said that to you (least of all another woman). What is this obsession that supposed healthcare professionals have with bigger women having babies ? Wrong Mcwrong with wrong bits on...
Loler, we DID go to the Peppermill !! Couldn't for the life of me remember who recommended it on MN but we went and really liked it. Had a fab diner style dinner in the restaurant and then took our drinks into the fire lounge for a bit which I loved. We'll have to swap honeymoon horror stories sometime. I got married 29/04/00, how about you ?

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 22/05/2007 08:27

at your doctor lizziemum!!! I put on 5 stone with Ds and my doctors didnt say a thing, i have put on nearly 2 stone already with this one, just think some ladies get "big" when preg! The main thing is that you are eating well and looking after yourself!!

Hope everyone else is well this morning x

MrsBadger · 22/05/2007 08:28

Morning everyone!

(hi Ceolas, knew you'd succumb eventually...)

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 09:03

And how are you and the pending Badger Cub today MrsB ?

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 22/05/2007 09:09

Not bad at all - Monday nights I go to yoga, which means I come home all relaxed and sleep well, so Tuesdays are my best mornings

Bump is expanding at an alarming rate though - eight weeks ago no-one at work had noticed I was pg at all and now they're looking at me saying 'can't be long now!'

Ceolas · 22/05/2007 09:12

Last Tuesday I had 3 different women say to me "My God, you're really big" or words to that effect. All 3 were women who'd had children. How you could ever think that was a good thing to say to a pregnant woman I'll never know.

I feel massive and when people ask when I'm due I say in an almost apologetic fashion, "Oh not til the end of August"

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 09:13

You've just reminded me. I must call a number my mw gave me for antenatal yoga and give it a whirl if it's as relaxing as that. Sounds wonderful.
I know what you mean about the bump, people are always asking me 'how long' now and are horrified when I tell them I've still got three months to go. The looks of disbelief and comments like "have you had that checked for twins?" etc go on and on....

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 22/05/2007 09:36

yoga's not for everyone but it's certainly worth a bash - tbh I value it more for giving me 2hrs timeout than for the stretching / breathing bits, but they are good too.
The teacher is a doula with 5 kids and is a mine of useful local information too...

funbun · 22/05/2007 09:38

Hello Ceolas, gosh number 4 - you're a professional. I'm feeling a bit of a fatty at the moment. Most people are very complimentary and say you're blooming or glowing. I'm not sure this is a compliment or an insult!

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 09:47

Funbun believe me, they're HUGE compliments compared to what I keep getting said to me !!

Morning

Hi TT - did you say your midwife came to your house yesterday? That sounds much nicer than traipsing to the hospital. I'm not scheduled for bloods for nearly two weeks. Was feeling a bit tired and considered taking a liquid iron supplement alongside my usual pregnancy vits (which I'm a bit rubbish at taking) but wasn't sure whether i'm allowed to. Are you taking both or just one? Meant to ask too, as someone who is due at the same time, have you decided when to start maternity leave? I thought I'd be able to work to 10 days before, but I'm starting to feel all slow and lumbering...

What are everyone's next purchases? I've got birth pool in a box (subject to next scan) as the ones to hire all seem hideously expensive, a birthing hypnotherapy CD and something from the Lula Sapphire site as it's all so cute and I've been soooo restrained so far. Look at these cool play houses

Mrsshuvel · 22/05/2007 10:37

Morning Everyone

Welcome Ceolas.

Waddled to Aquanatal last night having missed a few weeks due to bank holidays and being away. There were a few new women there who are due the same time as me and i am massive compared to them. I have been quite proud of my bump but now i'm a bit worried. Came home and asked DP if he thought i was putting on too much weight, of course he just humoured me with a 'no dear'. I don't have any scales at home. I was weighed when i first went to the drs to confirm PG. Then about 2 months ago i was in Woolies with DP and put a set of their scales on the floor a weighed myself then. I think i will invest in a set at the weekend. Maybe my early demands for profriteroles has returned to bite me on the bum!

Can sympathise with those with upcoming weddings. TT did you ever find a dress? I got a few in the states. Just need something to go around my shoulders. Bought a stole but had to return it. When i tried it on it stuck out in front of the belly too much where it knotted together and gave me a weird shape. We have been invited to another wedding 4 days after my EDD, i think i can definitely say we won't make that one but DP is best man at one 2 weeks later. He may have to go on his own.

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 10:42

Yes Annie, the lovely Betty comes to me everytime and does my bloods etc at home. There is a reason for this though, she's private . She was saying how she's booked up until January now, probably as a result of that Panorama programme...
Again, I recommend Floradix as your iron supplement. Take the liquid though as it's nowhere near as likely to cause constipation as the tablet form. I just take Mumomega one a day for everything else. Nothing more required according to Betty !
As for maternity leave, I've planned on finishing on 28th June which is when I'm 34 weeks. Having arranged this I might end up thinking about leaving earlier though as have been told that the Braxton Hicks I get are from doing too much. Am thinking that perhaps after next week's 4 day week I'll use up my holiday to take a few afternoons off every week or the odd whole day to rest up.
Think it's pram shopping over the next few weekends. Am dreading it a bit as I've mentioned before about my confusion on the subject !

Hey there MrsS, how's things? I'm just back from the osteopath who also chose to kindly tell me how massive I'm going to be and that when lying on my back my bump looked like the Matterhorn....
As for the weddings, a friend of mine has a dress that I'm comfortable in and I did buy one in the States too that should be ok. Definitely nothing to get over excited about though sadly. What are yours like ?

Mrsshuvel · 22/05/2007 10:54

Nothing exciting on the dress front to report here either i'm afraid. The first i'm not sure about. I need to put them on again as i bought a bit big at the time. I felt a bit like i'd been rummaging through my nan's wardrobe or the dressing up box. It's a dusky pink but looks a bit 1920's. Everyone assured me it was very nice and very weddingy. I'll try it on tonight and upload some pics now that i've worked out how to do it. The second one is white with a green pattern and quite flattering. I saw it in the window of a maternity shop the morning we were leaving. I also bought some white lacey flat pumps as i haven't worn heels for months and really don't trust myself not to fall.

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 10:57

That's an idea, I might try and post pics today to get a verdict.

Mrsshuvel · 22/05/2007 11:01

I think my family were just so suprised to actually see me in a dress that they would have told me anything looked nice. Don't think i've worn a dress / skirt since my clubbing days. I have an issue with saddle bags you see. Have been assured that bump distracts the eye from them though but some honest opinions would be appreciated.

MrsBadger · 22/05/2007 11:09

Your dresses sound lovely TT and MrsS.

I was all ready to splurge £140 on a beautiful dress from Homemummy till DH pointed out that long sleeves and stretchy cotton/lycra probably weren't quite right for July... (I have Henley at 34wks and a wedding at 36)

Eventually I had success on ebay - one from Jojo and one from Blooming Marv - both look a bit sacklike hung up but much better on.
I bought the second one when I was only 19wks and it hung off me like a tent, but I've now filled it out most impressively.
I have shoes / bags / wraps etc already, just need to find a hat...

Mrsshuvel · 22/05/2007 11:12

oooh i love those Mrs B, will you put pics on too. We can have an online fashion show!
