Hellooooo !!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsBadger · 13/06/2007 15:42

aha, Washersaurus, we've bought a similar pouch sling for DH (actually a Hotsling) but it was a lot more expensive than the Murron - wish I'd known about them.
I've got a gauze wrap sling coming in the hopes that it'll be cool enough to use in the summer when the Cub is tiny - will let you know how I get on...

Washersaurus · 13/06/2007 15:48

That is the only problem with all the slings I suppose, they do get hot to wear.

I only stopped wearing the pouch as DS became far too heavy for me to carry in it and was straining my neck and shoulders.

Annie75 · 13/06/2007 15:49

Hey MrsB - excellent news that you're off the high risk list and back to midwife care . I seem to be, despite having one more consultant appt to go. Does that change your birthing plans? Seems like we've both been subjected to a shed load of tests for nought, but at least my mind will be at rest for the birth.

Re the conversation about no one noticing when you're pregnant - I made a truly dreadful boo-boo at my works Xmas party. A woman I didn't know v well and works in another office got up to let me sit next to her, and she had a v pregnant-looking tummy and I vaguely remembered someone saying she was pregnant. I was quietly excited about being pregnant myself (but hadn't told people yet) and exclaimed, 'oh, you're having a baby, how lovely!' - to which she replied, 'I had her a year ago' . She was v nice and let me gloss over it, but I felt like such a cow. Needless to say, I don't ever assume now, just in case...

Hersetta · 13/06/2007 16:08

the slingeasy looks a bit like a padded freedom sling I think.

Their web site is here.

www.slingeasy.co.uk/

Will give it a go - they offer a 21 day guarantee from the birth or your baby so if i don't get on with it can get send it back - will practice with potatoes first I think!

MrsBadger · 13/06/2007 16:47

it is good, isn't it Annie?

Still planning a hospital birth though - they do have limits, and so, it turns out, does DH.
Our one-day NCT course had a swathe of useful tips for 'having a natural birth in hospital' though so am not feeling as bad about it as I was - also told us that the JR have wireless continuous monitors so if they insist on CFM I know to demand one!

kiteflying · 13/06/2007 16:50

I'm off home. Have felt woozy and faint all day since horrid commute this morning. I thought I was made of sterner stuff tbh. Have done nothing at all of any use to anyone so may as well be on my way.

Yesterday I did yoga practice before work and a swim afterwards. Today zilch.
Feeling quite useless - I really want to be strong and fit for LO's arrival.

Babylovesmuffins · 13/06/2007 17:02

Hope you're feeling better tomorrow Kite. This heat doesn't help (and we're not even that warm in Scotland!!). I'm shattered today too. I think it's our bodies telling us to rest and take it easy - don't worry too much about exercising, it sounds like you're doing ok on that front.

conkertree · 13/06/2007 17:07

think i have posted about this before, but since slings have come up - this is the one we have gone for

www.didymos.de/english/index_e.htm

dont think that will be a proper link - sorry.

think work have finally ackowledged that i will be leaving in 5 weeks and 2 days (yay) and are realising that someone will have to cover my work. i really dont see why it hasnt dawned on them before, but never mind - its not my problem.

hope all the commuters have a comfortable ride home tongiht - think i might have a bath and try and read more about hypnobirthing.

Hersetta · 13/06/2007 17:16

Am off to brave the central line - see all you ladies tomorrow.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 13/06/2007 17:47

Hi ladies, so tired today but other than that feel fine, I've put some pic's of the Baby's room on my profile (there not fab pic's due to batteries were dieing) let me know what you think! Babymad+bump

bananabump · 13/06/2007 19:17

Aaw babymad, your nursery is beeyootiful! I really like the colours you've chosen, it's so restful.

We're off to collect a changing table unit from freecycle tomorrow. Nothing in our room will match, but I spose if it all looks terrible in the end I can give it a lick of paint to tie it all in, it's not as if any of our bedroom furniture is expensive or precious!

Oh, just remembered someone asked about consultants/anesthetists. The only reason I'm seeing doctors is because I'm high risk, and I think you have different appointments for different "problems" iyswim.

I'm not entirely sure why I had to see the anaesthetist, as to be honest he asked me what I was planning, before giving me his recommendation. I think if I'd have said "no pain relief for me" he'd have said "fair enough, if you change your mind your options are this, this and this"

Pengy · 14/06/2007 07:34

Babymad your nursery looks gorgeous. Very envious as we live in rented accomodation so limited what we will be able to do. Hoping to get some removable stickers to liven up white walls a bit. Does anyone have experience of these? Are they really removable?

Hope everyone has a good day and you're feeling better kite.

lizziemun · 14/06/2007 08:30

Pengy,

We got some for dd bedroom called stickaround which are removalable/reposistional.

www.nursery-rooms.co.uk/Stickarounds.shtml

I have moved them around dd room when changed it around early this year. They have been up for about 18 months

Hersetta · 14/06/2007 08:40

Ooh lizzie, that's the company I bought mine from. i got the peter rabbit ones (as DH loves bunnies) and they go really well with our nursery colour scheme (aqua green). I put them up at the weekend and they were dead easy to put on and just peeled off if I hadn't got them in quite the right position. Would definitely reccommend.

lizziemun · 14/06/2007 09:13

Hersetta

I have some flowers/garden ones as we were doing dd new bedroom when she moved out of the nursery.

They were so easy to do she was able to help, she was just over 2 then.

Babylovesmuffins · 14/06/2007 10:41

Babymad your nursery looks gorgeous! All ready to go - just need your LO now!! Is that a Cosatto Hogarth cotbed?? We put ours up at the weekend and I think we may have the mattress setting too high, as when you lower the drop-side there isn't much to keep baby in...

Hersetta I wish my DH liked Peter Rabbit - I love all the Beatrix Potter animals and I went online to order lots of BP stuff, only to be told by DH that all the animals in clothes "freaked him out" and had done since he was a child...

MrsBadger · 14/06/2007 10:48

if your tastes run more to the modern than the traditional Blik have some funkier ones.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 14/06/2007 10:54

BLM this is the one I've got, CotBed

Hersetta · 14/06/2007 11:03

ooh babymad - I had that bed but in natural in my babies R us basket for a while but eventually went for a tutti Bambini one instead. Looks great - the whole nursery does. I'm not even attempting to put the cotbed together though as DH and I are rubbish at things like that so am waiting for my step dad to come over from Spain in mid july and he is going to do it then.

funbun · 14/06/2007 11:09

Haven't posted for ages - went on hols to France and then I've been really busy at work for last 2 weeks. Everything is going well. I have got something called SPD - does anyone else have this? Basically it makes your pubic bone ache, especially when turning over in bed, putting your feet up or getting in and out of a car. Managable but uncomfortable at times.

Holiday was lovely - weather not great but good enough and swam in campsite pool every day completely alone - lovely. All the nursery stuff is beautiful- we're getting there slowly. DP has decided to take the full 2 weeks of paternity off too - which I'm really chuffed about - its going to be so lovely

jem1969 · 14/06/2007 11:14

Babymad- nursery looks lovely and looks like it is totally ready for occupancy! Ours just have bare walls at the moment but at least it has been painted. Am waiting until I know if it's a boy or girl before personalising it a bit more, but Mum has dug out the 3 B. Potter pictures I had on my walls as a kid. Just need to give the frames a lick of paint.
My cot is being delivered today- bit freaked out about it actually! Got mine from JL.
I was examing my stomach yesterday and I think it's really just hit me that soon we'll have a baby- all seemed slightly academic/hypothetical for so long! (Took ages!)

BabyMadandBIGbump · 14/06/2007 11:17

Thanks, Hersetta I don't know why but I love putting flat packed stuff together, I get very possessive I tell DH to "BACK OFF" Lol poor man, I find it very relaxing for some reason !

BabyMadandBIGbump · 14/06/2007 11:23

Thanks jem1969, I was waiting till we knew the sex too but DH changed his mind last min but I'm over that now and cant wait really looking forward to the surprise now. We did the baby's room in lemon and mint in the end, I wanted peach and lemon for a girl and light blue and mint for a boy! Just waiting for baby now, baby is also ready "head down"!

jem1969 · 14/06/2007 11:25

I like doing the flat pack thing as well-and I'm much better than DH! Might have to be a bit more patient with him this time or ask our decorator nicely!

kiteflying · 14/06/2007 11:29

Beautiful nursery Babymad - what a lovely colour scheme. You are so going to love bringing home your baby to that lovely room. Am very chuffed for you all making up your nurseries so beautifully. My plans only go as far as whether I need the cot as well as the moses basket in our room with us as we will only be there for four to six months. We are leaving the second room as DP's refuge!

Very tempted by the BP stickarounds though. Both of us love Beatrix Potter and spent a lot of time in the Lakes pre-baby.

I am better today - thanks. I think I was just done in by the extra walking yesterday in all that London humidity - caused by transport chaos on my route to work. I am trying to build up to an hour walk every day though so....

Funbun, I have a bit of hip and pelvis pain as well but don't think it is SPD as that is REALLY painful. Katybird has had it though and has been seeing an osteopath. Hers seemed to get worse after yoga, annoyingly for her. If you are swimming I think you are suppoed to avoid breaststroke.

Jem, enjoy your cot delivery - it really does make it seem real (mine is still in the loft) as there is a big vacant place where that baby is going to go once s/he arrives!
I am so loving watching LO move around in my belly. I hate being at work because I have to ignore her/him when s/he is being adorable and squirmy.

Have a great day everyone - thank god it is a bit cooler. Hersetta, did you get a seat on the central line?
