Hellooooo !!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mrsshuvel · 14/06/2007 16:35

DP wants to pull baby out himself but i think he's just going to be a nuisance and get in the MWs way. He can be a bit over enthusiastic at times.

Hersetta you just made me laugh out loud. Rest of office probably trying to work out how compiling a manual about my job can be so funny.

Annie75 · 14/06/2007 16:54

Ha! Me too, Hersetta

I'm such a hippy at heart that I love the idea of delivering the baby myself. In fact, sometimes I imagine not telling anyone I've gone into labour and just getting on with it myself (I know, I know, I haven't a clue).

Weird labour dreams - oh yes, loads. Latest one was that I went into labour and found that DH had finally fixed our fire bowl fire and it was on. Funnily enough, he got it connected this morning. Hope that's not prophetic yet .

Babylovesmuffins · 14/06/2007 16:54

Oh don't say that TT - I'm just about to go for my regular leg, bikini and underarm waxing

(In fact, that's one of the reasons I suspected I was pg in the first place as waxing hurt so much more than normal and my beautician told me it was either pre-menstrual or I was pregnant and I knew my period wasn't due for a while so I was quite posssibly up the duff! Strange eh??)

Babylovesmuffins · 14/06/2007 16:57

Haha MrsS you just made me laugh imagining your DP throwing the midwives aside and delivering his DC into the world

Mrsshuvel · 14/06/2007 17:17

I can imagine me screaming at him to get out of the way and let the bloody MWs do their job!

Not brave enough to go for waxing anymore although i'm sure labour will hurt alot more . Sticking to the creams with DPs help. If he ever loses his job he'll make a fantastic beautician.

Mrsshuvel · 14/06/2007 17:18

He's not bad at painting toenails either!

Mrsshuvel · 14/06/2007 17:19

Night all, off home to try to rest as all this manualling has knackered me out!

conkertree · 14/06/2007 17:35

i've got to stop actually concentrating at work so i can keep more up to date - laughed out loud several times there catching up with this afternoons conversations - particularly at hersettas comment - my dh has suggested just the same when reading about it (sorry purplerabbit if you are reading this and its tmi).

read more of the hypnobirthing book in the bath last night - was quite enjoying it (although not sure if i could be that disciplined to concentrate hard enough) until it got to the pushing (or not as the case may be bit). I know they say its conditioned in you to think that you have to push when actually all you have to do is breathe, but i just think the midwives would burst out laughing if i said i wasnt going to push. have you got to that bit yet in your classes tt?

finally bought a birthing ball online at boots today so got a monitor as well as they were doing good points deals on them and we were going to get the walkabout classic anyway. then went slightly shopping mad and bought the eco crib and a mattress from mothercare, so lots of nice packages to unwrap to look forward to

(our tots bots nappy pack arrived yesterday - they are very cute)

bananabump · 14/06/2007 21:26

Hey guys, just got back from this weeks antenatal class. This week we talked about pain relief and intervention (forceps, ventouse, c section) then went on a tour of the labour ward, which was really interesting.

She showed us one of the delivery rooms, a big spotless room with the most amazing adjustable bed with all sorts of handles and buttons and some stirrups which didn't look scary at all. Had it's own tv, an en suite with a corner bath and shower, birthing balls, coffee making stuff etc.

We couldn't see much else since the labour ward was so busy. In fact one of the girls from the first week of the antenatal class was there, walking about asking for pethidine!

Feeling positive about the hospital now, and pretty positive about the epidural the anaesthetist recommended. So hopefully everything should be fine. Just got to wait and see now.

Has anybody else started going to antenatal classes yet?

loler · 14/06/2007 22:28

While I remember.....Banana - I was induced last time and had epidural sited before my first contraction - was fantastic as could stay really still. Only had the drugs put in once it started hurting (after about 3rd contraction ). So you could do this - i.e. have it sited and decided if you want the drugs added later or not at all.

Finding it so hard to retain any memory at the moment at all! Also finding it had to remember words - even my kids names - have to keep shouting em em em...oi you stop doing that! Spent so long choosing their names and can't even remember them!

Have to say that I'm really enjoying being pg this time, even with being tired all the time. I think it's because I know this is the last one so want to savour every minute. I love it that I'm never on my own. Getting sad that it's coming to an end - or maybe just want to put off the birth bit!

conkertree · 15/06/2007 08:55

i'm with you loler and this is my first - i never understood before why people said they missed being pregnant after they gave birth, but i can totally see why now. Its such a unique relationship that you have with the baby just now, but then maybe once the baby is born, you dont have time to miss the pregnancy - or its even better having the baby on the outside.

watched some of betty the midwife's DVD last night - it was good but so funny. Was very dated - the information was all really useful, particularly since our classes dont start till 2nd July, and really I'd like to feel I know a bit more about labour before then just in case, but it was very hard looking past the 80s styles.

Am now quite jealous of TT having those classes with her - think she'd be a really great mumsy sort of person to teach you things - no nonsense but very kind. Although she wasnt looking like a spring chicken in the DVD so she must be getting on a bit now is she?

Hersetta · 15/06/2007 09:28

Loler i know what you mean. i picked up a colleague's phone this morning and for the life of me i couldn't remember our company's name - just sat there with the phone in my hand doing a reasonable impression of a guppy fish at feeding time. I so hope I get my brains back after the baby's been born.

Banana - I start my classes on June 26th - so not long now.

ooh and FYI I went to holland and barratt this morning and they are doing the 400mg rasperberry leaf tablets for half price. £3.24 for 100 I beleive.

I wanted to get some Arnica as have heard is great for bathing post baby, but H & B only had tablets to be chewed for cream to be directly applied (and I don't think you apply it directly down there!). Does anyone know what you have to buy to put in a bath?

tokentotty · 15/06/2007 09:34

Eh ?? Betty's got a DVD ??

Sorry, distracted there for a minute ! Meant to tell you H that Betty's given me the 640mg tablets to take daily from today. Must remember to post her list on my profile or something so you can see. That has arnica tablets on to buy but she also said that she has the high dosage ones for after the birth which are only available on prescription so she'll get them for me at the time.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 15/06/2007 09:43

Just read it back - and i cant even spell!

tokentotty · 15/06/2007 09:45

Oh Pink, sounds like you're really starting to struggle love. Is there any way you can cut back on some of the stuff you're doing?? Perhaps giving yourself a bit of breathing space will help you de-stress a bit and enable you to get a better perspective on what you really need to do to make yourself feel better, get things organised and ready, and spend time with DS before he starts school ?

OP posts:
Hersetta · 15/06/2007 09:49

TT - did betty say to just take 1 tablet daily? When and if do you increase the dosage?

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 15/06/2007 09:55
