Northern I think it’s more important to get sleep than how you get it at this age. I put dd down after an hour awake but actively rock her to sleep after 10 minutes if she’s not drifted off. It’s fairly hit & miss!

HoneyBee03 · 27/06/2018 22:08

I've just got home after being up the hospital all day with reduced movements and a bump that hasn't grown in 2 weeks, and I've been given a slot to be induced tomorrow! Eeek.

It's my due date which is quite nice, but I know i could be waiting around for a few days for it to get going. Home now frantically trying to get showered and packed and also relaxed! Were any of you induced using a pessary? How long did it take for labour to start? And do you have any tips or advice? Slightly nervous first timer here.

ElizabethLemon · 28/06/2018 02:21

@HoneyBee03 good luck for tomorrow! I don’t have any advice re the induction but really hope it’s as quick and straightforward as possible.

ElizabethLemon · 28/06/2018 03:02

And yep another noisy baby here, we often have zoo animal sounds coming from the sleepyhead. The weirdest one he makes is a strange clicking dolphin sound, H has started calling him flipper 😅.

Bleeding wise, I just went a good couple of days without any then last night had a bit of pink blood when wiping. I’m 4 weeks post section so hopefully it’ll stop soon!

RockinRobinTweets · 28/06/2018 03:21

Good luck honey, hope it goes well!

Northernbeachbum · 28/06/2018 08:28

Good luck @honeybee03, fingers crossed for a smooth arrival

Shutupanddance1 · 28/06/2018 09:43

Best of luck Honeybee!

Northern, whatever it takes to get them to sleep at this point is the key, I found with my DD1 that rocking etc to sleep wasn’t a problem really tbh. It was nice for us to get down time together at the end of the day and DH got into it as well.

Baby2 is doing well, feeling way more like myself today and managed the school run with 2 kids

Flyingfruit · 28/06/2018 14:07

Well my little June baby is finally here, 10 days late! He was born yesterday morning at 5.39am weighing a whopping 9lb 1oz!

Northernbeachbum · 28/06/2018 15:24

Well we think it's colic thats keeping him awake so just been to buy infacol. Hoping that does the trick.

@flyingfruit massive congrats to you!!! What a whopper!! How are you both doing?

jadeward89 · 28/06/2018 16:22

Congratulations @Flyingfruit hope you are doing well.

I have a quiet sleeper, so much so that I wake up in a panic sometimes. She does prefer to be in with me though.
How are all the babies doing with this heat?

ClareB83 · 28/06/2018 19:59

If your quiet sleeper panics you, the movement only angelcare monitor is only £20 at mothercare at the moment. @jadeward89

Thank you for letting me know @ClareB83 I think I might look into getting one. I’ve never been like this with any of the others so this is odd for me.

Lali1 · 29/06/2018 07:42

@Flyingfruit massive congrats on yuor big June baby!
@HoneyBee how are you, hope everything ok with induction for you yesterday and baby arrived happily.

I had my June baby girl yesterday morning 7.47 :). Pretty and delicate Victoria at 5 lbs 10 oz (2.54 kg). We are learning to work with each other for feeding and so.

First 12 hours of induction with contractions were not my best in life, just 3 cm dilation and 2 extremly painful sweeps...afterwards had epidural and then next 7 hours went much much better.
I was impressed though with delivery ward's midwife prefessionalism and empathy, it helped so much for final outcome.

I slept just 3 hours last night...today we go home and hope we'll get into a feeding/sleeping routine.

HoneyBee03 · 29/06/2018 07:51

Huge congratulations @Lali1 and @Flyingfruit!! Please don't tell me my little bug is the last June baby we're waiting on? I guess being due yesterday it was always likely!

Pessary went in yesterday and although I've had non-stop back ache and feel like I have a bowling ball between my legs I have absolutely nothing else to report. I think I'll have another pessary today, and if it gets to work I'll have my waters broken as long as the midwives aren't too busy. If that doesn't work I'll go on the drip, which I'm not keen on! There goes my lovely, natural water birth....

Shutupanddance1 · 29/06/2018 09:37

Congratulations @Lali1 and @flyingfruit on the babies!

Your bubs will be here soon @honeybee03 - all the best for your induction!

@jadeward89 I was the same with DD1 and also had horrid intrusive thoughts as well Confused that haven’t appeared this time (thankfully!). We have the angel care monitor which I really like, haven’t actually turned on the mat bit yet as we are usually always in the room with DD2 atm.

We are always in the heat here but find that things like stripping baby down to vest to sleep helps when it’s very hot. We also used 0.5 tog grobags as well at night.

Flyingfruit · 29/06/2018 12:13

Thanks everyone we are doing well. His latch is amazing and feeding is going so well. Only trouble I’m having is putting him down, he just will not stay asleep. Last night he was great overnight being put down but in the day it’s an absolute no!
Congratulations to all the other new babies that have been announced since I’ve been distracted. Good luck @honeybee03

RockinRobinTweets · 29/06/2018 15:25

Flying I swaddle & use a dummy when I’m putting her down to sleep on her own and it seems to help

HoneyBee03 · 30/06/2018 22:17

I am pleased to announce that my little one just about snuck in there as a June baby! Today we've had a baby boy named Sullivan. My pessary induction worked well in the end - my waters went like they do in the movies and it all just cracked on from there! I ended up with an epidural and Sully was helped out using the ventouse. It was an entirely positive and incredible experience, although very different to what I had imagined!

Is that all the June babies delivered now? :)

jadeward89 · 30/06/2018 23:00

Congratulations @Honeybee03 I have been thinking of you all day wondering if your little one would arrive today xx hope you are both doing well 😊

ClareB83 · 01/07/2018 02:31

Congratulations!!

Also my little twin just rolled over! No one is going to believe me. But he was being a little weirdo after the earliest night feed ever (assuming I will pay for this in a couple of hours) and I put him on his tum to wind him, he sat right up (both have really good neck control) he hoiked himself sideways and sat there for ages. I though 'I should record this' but the overhead light wouldn't turn on (we have a dimmer with a special blue bulb on it for dim night feedings) and my phone turns off the torch when you turn on the camera. And then he rolled over!

He carried on being weirdly active/awake for ten minutes then conked out. Now I'm weirdly awake!

Fantastic news @honeybee03!!! Glad you had a positive experience and little Sullivan arrived safely

@clareb83 that's amazing, he will probably tease you and not do it in front of a camera or anyone else now Grin

Hows everyone's c section scars coping in the heat? Mines gone quite pink so trying hard to not overheat (ha)

Still having colic and reflux issues too. Considering whether to change formula brands to see if it helps

ElizabethLemon · 01/07/2018 09:21

@Honeybee03 congratulations! Glad all was well and you had a good experience.

@Northernbeachbum mine has been a bit pink too and sore/itchy. I hate the thing! I’ve been bathing with a few drops of tea tree oil and been standing in front of our big fan with knickers rolled down to get some cool air to it!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 01/07/2018 11:36

Hows everyone's c section scars coping in the heat?

Mine seems fine. I think it's healing much better than the first time around (which healed pretty good), helped possibly by the fact that it's much shorter this time (so I still have a couple of inches of ds's left on one end).

A midwife friend suggested sticking sanitary towels in the freezer and popping them over it if it's itchy/sore. No idea if it works but might be worth a try.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 01/07/2018 11:37

Congratulations @Honeybee03.

SparklesandBubbles · 01/07/2018 12:40

@Flyingfruit congratulations. Glad you've finally got your baby xx I also used a swaddle in the early days but to be honest you've got to remember that little one only knows you and is getting used to this Big old world so probably just wants the comfort of being close. A sling really helps so you have your hands free!

@Lali1 congratulations on your baby girl x

@HoneyBee03 congratulations on your baby boy. Glad everything went well.
