Congratulations @Mummyloves09 and what a good weight she is! Joe was still 3lb something when he left special care! She must be doing well!

@Northernbeachbum when they were very little you couldn't avoid putting them down asleep as they fell asleep while eating. But now we do try to put them down sleepy rather than asleep. It doesn't always work though - sometimes they beat us to it and are asleep and other times they resist sleep and don't want to be put down. Especially on the night feed it's easier to wind/cuddle them to sleep than get up five times to settle them.

@Mummyloves09 Aww, so glad she's home and she looks adorable.

@Northernbeachbum She falls asleep on me whilst being fed/winded but the second we try and put her down, her eyes fly open and her arms stretch up and there is a 5 second window before she starts screaming so now we're trying to keep her awake to put her into her cot. Just like ds, she's more comfortable on her front on my chest but I can't sleep like that.

As for hoovering, I think I'd be fine but I haven't done any since my emcs with ds 3 years ago... It's now dh's job helped along by ds and his mini dyson. Our insurance company want you to be signed off by a Doctor and our practice won't do that until 6 weeks so haven't driven either. Feel absolutely fine though.

@Watchingmasterchef Hope everything went well.

@hoopdeloop Congratulations

Still struggling with mood, but I think it's partly related to issues with
breastfeeding. With ds, I struggled because of associations, this time I don't have that, but I do have a baby who can't latch properly and all the advice I've been given is to pump every 3 hours which with a 3 year old is hardly practical.

Lali1 · 18/06/2018 15:03

@Watchingmasterchef hope everyhting went fine 🤗.
@Hoopdeloop congrats on the little one!!
@Mommylives your girl is so beautiful! I'm so glad she is home!

hoopdeloop · 18/06/2018 15:44

Thanks everyone! He is doing well, weighing in at 9lbs 1oz and 54cm long. Doing not to badly, just a bit sore. To the mummy’s who have had c sections, do you have any tips for the recovery process? I’m going to try and be good and let people do things for me to help!

Northernbeachbum · 18/06/2018 18:46

@Elizabethlemon that's what I'm doing, carrier or at night once he's asleep into the sleepyhead. Mostly successfully. Occasionally though he notices the transfer and demands cuddles and we oblige Smile @dinosaurs ds is also loving sleeping on his tummy on my chest. I could sleep like that easily (and dp did find me nodding off once) but I'm scared he will get hurt if I do. It soubds like you're doing an amazing job with the feeding. It's so so tough. I'll confess we've given up and switched to formula as I couldn't take it anymore.

@clareb83 sounds like you're getting things nailed with the twins I'm in awe!

@hoopdeloop I did nothing (and I mean NOTHING) for 5 days. No visitors, nothing and I've been feeling amazing since. I've also been making sure to build up walking slowly, wearing a step tracker to aim to do 500 more steps a day. Today I've been having a rest day but I'm up to 6000 now pain free. If something hurts in the slightest I stop and the chances are the next day it won't. Keep on top of pain relief, I had a horrid night one night as I'd lost track of painkillers so had nowhere near my allowance. I made the most of it and just cuddled and fed ds and enjoyed him

ClareB83 · 18/06/2018 21:42

I second keeping on top of pain relief. It's easy to forget but you'll wish you hadn't.

Don't lie down unless you're going to stay a while, it's not worth it.

Hi everyone
Got my baby ! He’s perfect 9lbs 3oz and currently really enjoying my catheter and not having to get up . B feeding going well
So far don’t want to jinx it but so far so good . In a bit of pain and night shift staff are not the most friendly compared to the lovely people we had today and feel a bit forgotten about but have a happy baby so don’t care ! :)

Lali1 · 18/06/2018 23:12

Waw Congratulations @Watchingmasterchef! Sounds like you have a handsome boy to cuddle!

Northernbeachbum · 19/06/2018 01:30

Congratulations @watchingmasterchef! Glad all is good so far and enjoy not being able to get up and having people waiting ok you.

ElizabethLemon · 19/06/2018 05:57

@Watchingmasterchef congratulations! I did miss my catheter when they took it out 😅 x

ClareB83 · 19/06/2018 07:13

I didn't. They kept letting it get full.

OP posts:
Watchingmasterchef · 19/06/2018 12:08

Same here ! DH kept having to empty it and kept getting told off

jadeward89 · 19/06/2018 22:38

Congratulations @watchingmasterchef hope you are both doing well xx

Watchingmasterchef · 20/06/2018 06:06

Thank you ! Just had an ok night . Baby feeding constantly and so I slept with him on me or beside me in bed . Waking up every hour to swap sides . Nipple feeding a bit so latch not perfect . Sore nipppes ! Any suggestions ? I prefer this to the alternative- baby sleeping - as last night was scared that he hadn’t fed enough and had slept too long . He’s just gone to sleep now . Lovely midwife in hospital did say that night no 2 was often solid feeding - anyone else find the same ?

Cookie1831 · 20/06/2018 09:43

With my DS2 night 2 was horrific he was on me all night so my plan this time is to use the little colostrum i have collected to try and buy me a couple of hours, I will let it cluster feed a bit to get my milk in but hopefully not enough to shred my nips so early!

Shutupanddance1 · 20/06/2018 12:45

@Watchingmasterchef congrats on baby boy!!

I found nights 2 and 3 so hard mentally BF. I knew why DD1 wanted to feed all the time to help stimulate my supply etc but my god it was tough!

For nips, I suggest a) lansinoh at every single feed, even ones that aren’t sore b) airing them (I’m not sure if your home yet or in a ward tho) c) soft material breast pads if you are leaking and using disposables as they can irritate.

Watchingmasterchef · 20/06/2018 14:01

Nipples are looking dry and have sort of gone black - scabs? It’s pretty painful when he first latches, got the lanosol on. Wasn’t expecting this as don’t remember having it last time , guess because had such a struggle last time in the early days there was a lot of syringe feeding and supplementing with bottle so nipples were actually fine

Northernbeachbum · 20/06/2018 18:13

How are you getting on @watchingmasterchef? Have you made it home yet?

Definitely over done it the last few days and feeling sore today. Going to try to do next to nothing tomorrow to recover. I keep making DP check my scar just in case I've done proper damage Blush

ElizabethLemon · 20/06/2018 19:30

@Northernbeachbum my husband has been on scar watch too, so romantic! Look after yourself x

Northernbeachbum · 20/06/2018 19:42

Glad it's not just me @Elizabethlemon. I'm so worried about it opening up although I worry more about the internal ones as I think that would be worse. Not that I have any idea what it would feel like it I did

ElizabethLemon · 20/06/2018 19:55

@Northernbeachbum I think if anything was happening internally it would be really really painful. My midwife also said to look out for lumps along the bikini line. I know it’s a real worry, I’m 3 weeks down the line now and still get sore but I am starting to feel less anxious.

Watchingmasterchef · 21/06/2018 01:52

We are home - released the day after section and so nice to be home! . Not got the blues yet ..suspiciously happy . Hope everyone else is coping ok

Northernbeachbum · 21/06/2018 05:16

Yeah I'm sure you're right @Elizabethlemon. I didn't know about the lumps though so I'll make sure to checks for that. It's so tough when on the whole I feel amazing

@watchingMasterchef I think it's day 3 or 4 they expect your mood to be lower if it happens. Sleep deprivation is a big influencing factor apparently so the more sleep you can manage the better......I know that's much easier said than done of course

Cookie1831 · 21/06/2018 12:47

Sigh second sweep today and absolutely no more favourable bishops score actually less according to this midwife! Off to stomp up the road with the dog in a grump!x

Shutupanddance1 · 21/06/2018 20:09

@Cookie1831 I’m hanging in here now as well - over 41 weeks and booked in for section if baby doesn’t arrive by Sunday Sad. Not really what I want at all but if baby isn’t coming, there isn’t much I can do
