Hi All - sorry hope you don't mind me starting a new thread but my laptop won;t let me put a message on the other one - I think cause it is so long!!

Anyway glad you are all ok - Pandabear - think it is quite common for you not to feel baby if you are active all day - if I have a really busy day I get worried and then I sit and relax and he goes into overdrive - its grosse sometimes like I have an alien inside my belly!!

Have midwife appointment today just routine but am going to ask if she thinks baby will be huge - everyone on hols acted like I was ready to give birth and were stunned when I told them I had 14 weeks left but then again the BA lady asked if I were pregnant when we checked in and all the mumsnetters I saw at last meet up did not tthink I was huge!! I haven't put on anything other than my big bump and inflated boobs though so thats a relief so far!!

Sam if you still have the UTI try to drink as much as you can - cranberry juice or flat lemonade are supposed to work well.

Tonic water is still keeping the reflux under control to an extent and other than clicky hips and being sooooo bloody hot all is ok inthe Twinkie Pregnancy so far.

Morning all and welcome Phoebe - I'm 29 and am expecting #2 on 12th November, no idea of the sex though!

I saw the midwife yesterday and she thinks baby might be breech so I'm off for a scan tomorrow. Because of the emergency C section last time, if baby is breech they won't try to turn it, but will schedule me in for a planned section there and then. At the moment, I'm optimistic that she could be wrong and that baby is in the right position, I really don't want to be in hospital away from DD for 4 nights!! I'm just treating this as an opportunity to see my baby again!

I'll let you all know what they say tomorrow. Other than that I'm still working and really counting down the days to finishing now. Glad to hear the rest of you are OK.

collision · 13/10/2004 10:45

Wanted to ask a question. DS was 5 weeks early and so this baby, if it was to be the same as ds, would be born NEXT WEEK. Because ds was early I never felt him turning to be engaged to be born IYSWIM. My question is, Do you actually feel them turning around and their head engaging? Or am I just asking a stupid question?

PotPourri · 13/10/2004 10:51

Hi all. Oh, it's getting busy on here! Welcome Phoebe.

All is well with me. Baby is really kicking loads these days, and cleaning obsession is still going strong (although I am too big and tired to do it all properly). Indigestion is not too bad these days.

I feel like I am about to burst, and have a full 7 weeks to go (first baby, due 1 December). I'm mega busy at work, which is actually helping pass the time. Don't know if that is a good thing or not as I'm quite stressed as a result. Only just over 4 weeks of work left. How exciting, some of you November mums could be going really soon!

Eisdvold, LOL at prediction link. Here's mine:
The day you deliver, outside will be cloudy. Your baby will arrive in the early evening.

After a labor lasting approximately 15 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and will be 21-1/2 inches long. This child will have hazel eyes and dark hair.

However, personally I am convinced it's a boy (not officially), so if I do get a girl I will be shocked. Maybe I should prepare myself for either. We've even lapsed into calling hte baby 'he' all the time....hmmm. Am assuming the 15 hours is not refering to formal classification of labour - i.e. the early pains will be included as I've put my order in to have a short labour and smallish baby so limited birth related injury for me !

webmum · 13/10/2004 11:04

hello everyone and welcome phoebe, Im 33 (almost...on 27th) and expetcing my second daiughter on 31st October, Im on hs thread because I initiually thought it was 1st nov, and then didn'tm want to change over.

baby is still head down, not enganged but m/w said its unlikely with second babies until labour starts.

Things are incredibly getting better, no heartburn, and pelvic pain much less than a feww eeks backs...weird!

I hav ebeen trying not too walk too much, but I'm also revolutionising the house to get it ready for the baby. Am having a loft coversion build at the moment, and we've still got 3 weeks of that, but on the +ve side, it has spurred us to do a lot of decluttering!
And we've only lived here for 3 years!

I'm past the 37 week amrk, now, so that's a relief, I might be able to use that pool eventuallY! mum arrives in a weeks time and if baby can wait until past her due date, maybe the builders will ahve left as well, but I try not to count on that too much.

DD keeps talking abit her new sister, she will tella bsolutely everyone, and she felt her kick the other day and she giggled for half an hour!

off to do some more cleaning now!!!

Phoebe25 · 13/10/2004 11:33

Morning all!

It's funny, i had those cleaning urges weeks ago. To the extent that i actually had an overwhelming urge to vacumn the cellar????????
Needless to say, i can barely be bothered to climb the stairs to the loo these days, let alone get the shake & vac out!

If you could be given an accurate date for going into labour, would you want to know?

I'm dying to know when the big day will be. I feel i may have left work a little too early & now im climbing the walls with boredom!
Mind you, work was extremely heavy going & i probably would have put myself in danger staying any longer!

Are there any tell tale signs that you've experienced, that mean labour is imminent?

What are people's view's on Raspberry leaf tea?
Good or bad idea?

xxx

Flossam · 13/10/2004 14:31

Sorry Phoebe, Can't really answer your questions about labour as this is my first too! All I know is I'm terrified after seeing a woman at work saying 'Well, just how painful does it have to get before I come back?' obviously being sent home. A couple of mintues later she was holding herself up on a pole, clinging on for dear life crying and moaning. I'm having my baby where I work and am about to move out even further away from the hospital, will be about a thirty quid taxi journey and I'm dreading getting there and being sent home! Think I might cry and through a strop... 'I work here, You HAVE to look after me!' type thing.

As for the raspberry leaf tea, I plan to give it a go as from 36 weeks. I'll have finished work and moved house by then so if he did decide to arrive sooner rather than later things wouldn't be too bad. Anything which MIGHT help to mean I'm not still sat there ready to explode at 42 weeks is worth a try in my book!

Bunny thank you so much for giving me that laugh to start off my day after my night last night! Visions of trying to get down there really did make me smile! I can't even reach my feet anymore, DP had to cut my toenails for me the other day . But he actually did rather a good job so now I'm thinking of employing him full time.

Keep worrying I still haven't packed a hospital bag. Keep meaning too, but need to start packing and have people coming round to see the flat later. Always so much to do! I only really have 4 days to pack up the whole house, DP is at work everyday untill we move next Friday, so why am I sat here? Nightmare!

Phoebe25 · 13/10/2004 17:02

Thanx Flossam! How many weeks are you now?

God, that sounds awful...poor woman.eeek
I also work at the local hospital, so have opted to give birth in one outta town. Can't face writhing around in an undignified fashion, cursing & swearing at staff i may bump into down the canteen some months later!!

As for the possible £30 taxi fare, at least you'll not be tempted to go in before things are well under way!
My local NHS trust are piloting a scheme where there's an option of the midwife coming out to your home when you think you're in labour. She'll stay as long as you need her & give you advice on when's best to start making a move. sounds good eh?

Im almost 37 weeks so might give that tea a try. I'll keep you updated!
Good luck with the move your poor soul

bunny2 · 13/10/2004 18:28

helloo

Phoebe, raspberry leaf tea didnt work for me with #1 and I was induced at 41 weeks. I am still going to give it a go this time though, I actually got to quite like the taste. I think clary sage oil can help trigger labour too - I know it mustnt be used in pregnancy until the very end, I shall dig out my aromatherapy book and have a look.

Well, my cleaning urge didnt last long and I am back to my slovenly ways so I suppose the baby is not on its way yet.

vivie · 13/10/2004 18:29

Hi All,
collision, my baby's engaged already (ds enganged early too) and I can feel him pushing down onto my pelvic floor. Brings tears to the eyes! I can also feel the bones of my pelvis moving to accommodate his head which is sore too. Not sure if this is normal so I'll ask my mw when I see her at the weekend.
Had a scan today and my fluid levels are pretty much normal so home birth is back on. Looks like my babe has some hair. This is so exciting!

Flossam · 14/10/2004 06:27

Hi Phoebe, sorry I'm just over 34 weeks. I decided to go for the one I work in as it has an excellant reputation, my local one most certainly does not! Also it's huge so hopefully I won't bump into many people!

Mum2Ela · 14/10/2004 09:37

Hi everyone,

37 weeks tomorrow and counting!

Well, I am defo having an ecv on the 22nd, (at 38 weeks) hope they are able to turn him. Am worried about going into labour before this though as DD was a very quick labour and if this one was still breech, they would section me. How does that work when you are ready to push?! If they don't manage to turn him they will schedule me in for a section at 39 weeks as they don't want to deliver him normally.

Collision - my DD was born early and would have been born last Sunday if it was this pregnancy IYSWIM. Weird to think, isn't it?!

Vivie - I get those pains too, but my baby isn't engaged, he is breech so I think its his little legs kicking me in not very nice places! Also get shooting pains down my legs which I think are my ligaments.

Glad you are all ok. Wish I was haveing nesting 'symptoms', just doing lots of Christmas shopping instead!!

ps. am really worried I won't know when I am in labour. It was easy with DD as the contractions from the word go were so fast and furious, you couldn't miss em, no crampy period-like pains for me!

Flossam · 14/10/2004 21:27

Hi everyone. Had my midwife appointment today and she said she could tell I was really stressed without me saying really! My blood pressure was up, my ankles are still swollen and she's worried I look a bit yellow! So I've had some liver function tests sent and I'll look them up when I go back to work tomorrow. Started worrying about that HELLP thing (i don't do things by half do i?!). You know how it is when you look up your symptoms you always end up with something awful! Not helped though when I took my plaster off my blood test site and found that I had been bleeding underneath the skin there, making me worry about my clotting now... Looks quite impressive anyhow! Hopefully my bloods will come back fine and I can stop being such a hypocondriac!

collision · 14/10/2004 22:14

Dont want to freak you out Flossam but with high BP and swelling it COULD be the signs of pre eclampsia. This is how I started with ds. Rest as much as you can and dont panic about it all. As you have been seen by someone at least you can be monitored. (Dont mean to worry you though... it might be nothing)

eidsvold · 15/10/2004 03:58

well 37 weeks today....

ohh jsut looked at that silly prediction and they are predicting that the babe will be around the 8lb 10 oz if I go to term!!! silly woman said 8lb 5 oz.... ohhhhhhhh

saw the Gp this morning - bp and everything fine - head not engaged but she said that may not happen until labour... babe is in the right position though.... feels like a good size too...

bloody hot here - pregnant and angry has returned - had a go at two stupid men at the shops this morning - made me feel slightly better!!!! finally got dd to sleep... going to finish painting trim in baby's room and then lay under the fan on the bed like a beached whale.

hopefully this babe will be here sooner rather than later......

glad to read all is generally well with everyone

Flossam - keep an eye on that and get it checked out.

bunny2 · 15/10/2004 09:03

Flossam, hope everything is ok. It is impossible not to worry isnt it? I spent the day at the hospital again yesterday after some light bleeding. They will be sick of me by the time my due date comes.

PandaBear · 15/10/2004 09:45

Morning all. Had my scan yesterday and baby is not breech! Slightly smaller than they would have predicted from the last scan though, so I have to go for another scan on Monday 25th. Not too worried but maybe a little bit.

Twinkie · 15/10/2004 11:13

Hi all 36 weeks today and think this baby is just going to do an alien and pop out of the top of my bump - bloody thng feels like it is trying to burst out - DP actually felt sick watching it yesterday and tried to be all 'Calm down Son' - stupid bloody idiot!!

Still pregnant and angry too - slagged off 2 women in Sainsbury's car parl - P&T spaces with no kids - they both ignored me so I had to stomp off or physically assault them.

Then had a go at some tosser who tried to pay for 1 days parking in the car park at the station this morning (why is it not illegal to not carry at least £10 on you!!) - I think no one should be able to pay for anything under this value with a card!!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!!!! - and then he went in frint of me - well pushed in front of me at the ticket office and paid again for £7.60 ticket with his f'ing card!!!!!!

Ha, late attendance here again! Just popping in to say hi, and to laugh at the link for the labour prediction. We are stuck in lots of set in rain at the moment and apparantly the day I am due to give birth will be sunny.........bloody hope I'm not here til next summer then!!!!!!!!!

37 weeks tomorrow and counting every second. Utterly bored and fed up. Babe is so low it hurts to walk, roll over etc etc (that's in bed, don't mean during the day on the floor or anything)

Good luck to everyone and next time I pop on, hope to hear some of you have given birth.
Take care all

Phoebe25 · 15/10/2004 12:30

Morning all.

Lol at Flossam! It's almost like a little knowledge is a scary thing, especially if you work for the NHS! You're certainly not a hypochondriac, it's totally normal. I checked my bloods at work the other day & noticed my platelets were down. Managed to convince myself it was early leukaemia or something!! How silly.

Saw my midwife y'day, she's great but i get the feeling she may be a little too laid back. After checking my notes, i noticed my BP was the highest it ever had been. Also my MSU was normal but i had dipped it beforehand (perk of being a nurse!) & it had raised Leucocytes & was very cloudy.

Anyway, she wasn't sure of the presentation & thinks i may be breech so im going for a scan today. Im quite exited at the prospect of seeing her at 37 weeks. My last scan was 18 weeks so there's bound to be a big difference!

Hope you've calmed down now Twinkie! Im quite impressed that you're already up & about shopping. I've just managed to scrape myself outta bed! A pleasure that im sure is about to end!!

Have a good day

gingernut · 15/10/2004 13:24

Hi all. It's getting very busy on this thread!

Flossam, hope everything is OK. At least they will be monitoring you closely so try not to worry! (although I can totally understand why you are concerned, being a worry-wort myself).

I had my second lot of anti-D yesterday. If I'm lucky I may never have to have it again, yippee, and at the worst it's only 1 more time after the baby's born. Also saw m/w and everything was OK, she took last lot of bloods as well so I'm very pleased to think my time as a pincushion is nearly over.

Haven't had a terribly good week - ds has an ear infection and a lorry drove into my car on Tuesday (it's not badly damaged and no -one was hurt but it's a pain getting it sorted out). Am trying to remain calm and serene though!

Phoebe, hope the scan goes well. Make the most of those late mornings in bed.

Mum2Ela · 15/10/2004 20:19

Hi all

Bunny2- hope everything is ok mnow. Has the bleeding stopped? Do they know what has caused it? Is it a show or sthing else?

Flossam - I was worried sick too when I was told I had low platelet levels (the clotting bit) so looked it all up on the internet and got the HELLP thing, convinced I had it! They repeated my blood test and I was at the bottom end of the spectrum, so ok, though I am still worried, esp. as in my OK magazine this week I read that Jade Gody had low platelet levels and had a paper cut which vaused her to nearly heamorrage (SP)!!

Twinkie - you would hate me atm. If we haven't got any bread / butter / milk in the house I will pop to our local garage and buy some on my card, I don't do cash!

arwenevenstar - welcome back! Hope everything goes well for you.

Well, like you may be Phoebe, baby is breech. Am booked in for an ecv next Friday and if they manage to successfully turn him, I am going to be asked to be induced that day (that'll be the 22nd then). I hope they will induce me, I have a feeling they won't be up for it but if I put a good enough case forward the least they can do is examine me and see if labour may be not too far away anyway. Went for acupuncture today to see if that would turn baby but during the consultation I mentioned that I was rhesus neg and this is apparently a contra-indication for the treatment so, as I haven't had any anti-D yet, I couldn't have the treatment. Am gutted

Hope everyone is ok.

x

gingernut · 15/10/2004 21:42

M2E, do you know if you have to have anti-D before the ECV? Just wondered as I suppose there could be a risk of bleeding. It may be something to ask them about in case the fact that you're Rh neg is missed.

Flossam · 15/10/2004 21:55

Hi again everyone, thanks for your messages! My blood results weren't back today, despite me ringing the lab , abusing my position a bit, but hey! Apparently they have a back log of 700 samples. Will check again on Sunday when I go back.

I've decided that I've had enough and saw my manager today. I have two weeks hols I was going to take before starting my mat leave proper on the 7th Nov, but I've been able to bring them forward so I will now finish on Sunday for two weeks holiday and start my mat leave on the 1st instead. It's only just over three weeks before baby is due then but it means that I can stop stressing so much and get things like packing done. Feels like such a weight of my shoulders, I only thought of doing it last night but I'm sure its the right thing to do. The mountain I was facing seems much more climable now! I was worried I would look a wimp by finishing earlier, but when I thought about it the only person I know there who did work to 36 weeks had the last week of sick. Another girl there who plans to work that late works in an office so not such physical work. So I haven't really done that babdly!

Bunny, poor you, you really have had a tough time of it haven't you. Not long to go now though, and your baby seems like it's made of sturdy stuff! Have you finished work yet? Hope things have settled for you.

eidsvold · 16/10/2004 07:59

thought we could do with a giggle - these are links to humorous thoughts on pregnancy
here

bunny2 · 16/10/2004 10:57

Good link eidsvold

Flossam, glad to hear you are feeling more relaxed and optimistic. I think it is a very wise idea to finish work that bit earlier, God knows how you have kept going for so long. I am a full time Mum and have been luckily enough to avoid returning to work since ds was born 4 years ago. I was a teacher and being on my feet all day was a real killer when I was pg with ds.

M2E, yes, I thought it was a show - mucus with bloody streaks - yuk! But a close internal examination (that's 2 I've had in the last fortnight) proved my cervix is still tightly closed so I guess I have a few more weeks to wait. I just hope I dont go past my date and get induced again. Good luck next Friday - will you be 38 weeks by then? wow, its getting close!!!
