Hi All - sorry hope you don't mind me starting a new thread but my laptop won;t let me put a message on the other one - I think cause it is so long!!

Anyway glad you are all ok - Pandabear - think it is quite common for you not to feel baby if you are active all day - if I have a really busy day I get worried and then I sit and relax and he goes into overdrive - its grosse sometimes like I have an alien inside my belly!!

Have midwife appointment today just routine but am going to ask if she thinks baby will be huge - everyone on hols acted like I was ready to give birth and were stunned when I told them I had 14 weeks left but then again the BA lady asked if I were pregnant when we checked in and all the mumsnetters I saw at last meet up did not tthink I was huge!! I haven't put on anything other than my big bump and inflated boobs though so thats a relief so far!!

Sam if you still have the UTI try to drink as much as you can - cranberry juice or flat lemonade are supposed to work well.

Tonic water is still keeping the reflux under control to an extent and other than clicky hips and being sooooo bloody hot all is ok inthe Twinkie Pregnancy so far.

eidsvold · 22/10/2004 09:40

from my understanding what the gp said was that it was 3/5 engaged with 2/5 to go... also been very nauseous.,.. dh was cooking dinner last night and I thought I would puke... so who knows

Riebee · 22/10/2004 10:28

thought I posted msg this morning but it's gone somewhere?! oh well
Eidsvold- I'm 3/5 too and the way my midwife works it only has 2/5 left. What is your actual due date?

Whats pineapple meant to do?

I have been soo irritable the last two days, I don't think anyone dares speak to me.....don't recall that as being a prelude to labour, aren't you meant to be all calm and serene just before?!

eidsvold · 22/10/2004 11:43

pineapple is meant to help brin gon labour - like spicy food, sex, stimulating nipples etc....

I am due 5th November....

Riebee · 22/10/2004 13:18

I'm afraid I have to draw the line at nipple stimulation, they are soo tender.... no-one is touching these babies!
Do you think any of this really works?
I've tried sex, I'm taking raspberry leaf tablets so I guess it's pineapple and a bounce on the old gym ball then. I am so crap at being pregnant, does anyone actually enjoy it?

arwenevenstar · 22/10/2004 14:21

I think there are some strange souls out there

As for the nipple stimulation, I read somewhere that you have do do at least 3 hours a day !!!! not sure how I could fit that in ha ha! doesn't have to be 3 solid hours though, that could prove painful!

So come on then who's going first?????

bunny2 · 22/10/2004 19:49

Miriam Stoppards advice is to tweak each nipple for 15 minutes in turn for one hour, 3 times a day. Sod that!

I am sure clary sage oil is relevant somehow, I'll do a search.

bunny2 · 22/10/2004 19:50

here's some info

eidsvold · 23/10/2004 06:52

oh I hope it is me - bloody hot here today - bbc website says it is 38 degrees - must be close to that - hot, muggy, close and I am feeling every bit of it..... had my feet in dd's wading pool, been downstairs in our house sleeping on concrete just trying to stay cool.... ( still have to get furniture for that family room!!)

arwenevenstar · 23/10/2004 07:32

Morning all!

Riebee · 23/10/2004 08:58

Morning!

Well another day dawns in the land of P*ed off pregnant woman. Forgot the bloody pineapple when I went shopping yesterday.
Had a bit of a set to with dh yesterday too feeling really bad, we never argue (hard to believe I know...happy 2nd relationship)I'm really surprised we spoke to each other the way we did, this baby better come soon!

Definately no nip tweaking for me....15 mins at a time!! One tweak and I would proably hit the roof.
All my crampy pains seemed to have gone so I wouldn't put money on me being the first.

Eidsvold- I think it should be you....sounds far too hot and uncomfortable.
Arwen- Let us know how you get on with the pineapple.

Just going to check out clary sage....I think we have reached the desperado stage!:0

Discomonkfish · 23/10/2004 13:36

Morning.....when in November are you all due? I finish work on Friday next week and can't wait.....

Riebee · 23/10/2004 14:13

I'm due 5th Nov

Just had a look at the thread about clary sage....mixed views on it, alot of people didn't seem to rate it in terms of kick startin labour.Think I'll give that one a miss. Have decided to play mind games with the baby and pretend I don't want to go into labour just now, reverse psychology...you never know it might work!

Riebee · 23/10/2004 14:15

I meant to put 3rd Nov not the 5th! See the I don't care about labour attitude is already working, I can't remember when it's due!

Mum2Ela · 23/10/2004 19:55

HI guys

I haven't had time to read up on recent msgs and have to be quick now, so hope you are ok.

Just wanted to let you all know about my day yesterday.

Had an ECV as baby was breech and they managed to turn him - hooray!! In less than 5 minutes too when they said it may take up to 20 minutes. Didnt hurt as such but was uncomfortable. Am sooo grateful it has worked and at the mo it looks like I am in line for a normal birth!

After the procedure they put me on the monitor for a bit and baby squirmed a lot. When they then re-scanned me he had already engaged 3/5 and as I was having contractions before and after the procedure, the mw said she rekoned it wouldn't be long, though she wouldn't then give me a sweep when I asked her (will have to have a fiddle about myself then, and lots of shagging tonight!!).

It was such a long day tho, in hospital from half seven in the morning and got home at 4.30pm. They had to take lots of blood AND PREPARE ME FOR A C-SECTION IN CASE IT WENT wrong (sox bout capitals!) (inclusing shaving me and putting stockings on!!). Glad its over and can now get on with looking forward to a nice easy birth! ;)

Off for a curry now!

Will check in with you all tomorrow, hope you are all fine!!

collision · 23/10/2004 21:40

Oh I am quite excited now reading about all your babies heads being engaged etc etc

As for me I have no idea what is going on. I had to have a vaginal swab last week and had to be at the hosp at 8am on a Monday morning. Hosp is 30 mins away and DH and DS were not impressed at getting up so early. Swab was clear so dont need antibiotics.

Had to have ANOTHER B*** blood test to check for anaemia as I have been told NOT to give birth yet as I am SO anaemic!! Had to be at the clinic at 7.30am on Friday morning!! I will never have a baby abroad again. It is a killer.

We have a drs appointment on Wednesday when I will find out the results of the anaemia and will have another internal to see where the baby is as last time she couldnt find its head. If there is a prob then I will have to have another scan!

AM SO FED UP AND SO TIRED ........I just want to see my baby and get the pain over with!!

Hope all is well with everyone. My money is on Eidsvold being first!

gingernut · 23/10/2004 22:16

Ooooh, I think it is between eidsvold and Mum2Ela, with me being last! (and probably some time in December).

Glad it went well M2E, hope he stays where he is now!

eidsvold · 24/10/2004 09:04

well not sure if it will be me... still hot here today - yesterday high 30's.. today a little cooler - finally some rain but not really taken the edge off the heat yet - hopefully cooler at bedtime.

had some strong braxton hicks this morning and then some this afternoon... maybe my anniversay joke ( this wed is wedding anniversary) and spending it in hospital may not be such a joke.

arwenevenstar · 24/10/2004 09:04

Could be Riebee though as it is her third!!

I don't know WHERE I will be in the grand scheme of things. My third too, but 1st was on time and 2nd was late, so don't put your money in my direction. Also gynae has me confused about the dates, she says my date is 9th but on my records everything says 6th, so who knows. It is causing mega problems though with my dad who is hoping to come out and help. They will only let me go 10 days over before induction, and he has a conference on 18th, so if the date is 6th, the he's okay, if date is 9th, we're b***ed!

You can't get a decent curry here either for love nor money, so what to do????

I also hope it is Eidsvold (sorry guys) but you sound so hot and fed up and there is nothing worse than being pregnany, swollen and HOT!!!

I have a sweep on Tuesday (called frottis over here oooo err!!) so maybe that will help get things started !

Anyway, will pop back tomorrow to check state of play!
Good luck

arwenevenstar · 24/10/2004 09:05

God, check out those spelling mistakes - Sorry!

Mum2Ela · 24/10/2004 11:50

Hi guys

Well, curry last night hasn't done much. S'pose its the waiting game. Didn't have this with DD as she was 4 weeks early and I am soooooo impatient! AWe are going to my mum and dads later for sunday dinner so think I might have another brisk walk on the treadmill to see if that'll get him moving!

Rekon I am in for the long haul tho, this baby seems to be a stubbon little monkey. I don't want to go too far over tho as we are off to Cyprus Boxing Day and he'll be sooooo tiny to take on a plane!

FWIW, I hope Eidsvold goes first too. Nothing worse than being pg and swollen in the heat!
I have antenatel wed so may ask mw for a sweep then, she'll prob refuse, but if I turn on the water works she may feel sympathy!!

x

gingernut · 24/10/2004 12:12

Actually I'm feeling quite envious of you girls that are almost ready to pop...I've still got 4.5 weeks to go till my due date so not much hope of any action here! M2E, if he's late he won't be so tiny when he's born so he'll still be the same size by Boxing Day I should think! Was your dd quite tiny being so early? Bigger babies are supposed to be easier in some ways (they sleep better as can take bigger feeds).

Saw a heavily pregnant lady in the health food shop yesterday asking for raspberry leaf tea and thought `Ah- a fellow sufferer!'. She had a toddler in a buggy. Maybe it was one of you girls!

bunny2 · 24/10/2004 16:06

M2E, glad the baby is in the right directio now -fingers xxx for a normal delivery.

My money is on eidsvold being first, wish it was me, I've had enough. I burst out crying for no reason at all earlier but a box of Quality St cheered me up no end!

Arwen, how did you manage to get a sweep 2 weeks before your due date? I want one.

Flossam · 24/10/2004 19:15

Hello everybody! Well we've made it to our new home, and everything went really well really! The removal men turned up for a start which was one thing I was worried about! All I can say really is that my mum is an absolute star. Feeling horribly guilty that she caught the tube back to the other side of London on her own this evening, but I was feeling so tired. It has been very busy here.

Things are pretty much up together here now. Babies room is starting to look a bit like it might be having a baby in it... Off to toys'r'us tomoorrow to make things even better hopefully! I still feel like labour is a long way off... haven't had too much time to think about it I suppose. Looking forward to things gradually getting quieter, although I have appointments, an ante natal day, a new flat to make homely, and two friends hopefully to see this week, so will still be busy enough! Plan to slow down next week.

Lots of you seem to be nearly there though, things are definately getting exciting here! You lucky people! My DP said to me tonight, 'I can't believe there is a whole baby in there!' I think you will probably all feel like I do, there most DEFINATElY is! Must remember to get the raspberry leaf tea this week. Still getting funny pains at the bottom of my tummy some times. Also find that I get a pins and needles type pain at times, round the top of the bump which is maybe the baby shifting his bum? God knows! I'd love to have a camera and know what an earth he was doing in there! Looking forward to hearing from you all soon and catching up with how everybodies getting along!

PS, I'd like to vote for eidsvold or bunny to be first, eidsvold becsause I'd be SO pi**y in that hot weather this pregnant, and Bunny because she has had a pretty rough pregnancy and I can't wait to hear she has a little bundle of joy to hold!! x

collision · 24/10/2004 21:17

Italy does not do raspberry leaf tea!! AARRGGHH. Must ask Mum to send me some unless any of you lovely ladies have any spare!!

How much do I take and when?

Got cramp in my thigh this morning and was writhing on the bed til DH came and rubbed my leg! 'That was agony' I said. 'Great' he replied 'Cant wait to see what you will be like in labour!!' He is right. I am such a wuss I cant even cope with cramp never mind full scale labour pains!!

eidsvold · 25/10/2004 06:43

glad to hear the move is done flossam - you are going to start taking it a little easier now aren't you

still bloody hot here but today is a little more bearable than the last two and dd has been a gem today.

Got an invite for a morning tea next week - big race day here called Melbourne - nation stops for teh race... kind of like the grand national in the Uk I guess... a parent group I am a part of are having a Melbourne Cup celebration morning tea - pampering ( massages, facials etc, prizes, hat parade etc!!)

Here is the question - do I dare RSVP and go or do I say no!!! I am leaning towards the RSVPing and going - could do with a facial and some pampering...... also figure sods law - have the baby and not be able to go.

Next Tuesday is also my next consultant's visit - am thinking we are going to be talking induction as he does not want the baby to get to big as I want the vbac.. already predicted to be 8lb 10oz by next week!!
