Hi All - sorry hope you don't mind me starting a new thread but my laptop won;t let me put a message on the other one - I think cause it is so long!!

Anyway glad you are all ok - Pandabear - think it is quite common for you not to feel baby if you are active all day - if I have a really busy day I get worried and then I sit and relax and he goes into overdrive - its grosse sometimes like I have an alien inside my belly!!

Have midwife appointment today just routine but am going to ask if she thinks baby will be huge - everyone on hols acted like I was ready to give birth and were stunned when I told them I had 14 weeks left but then again the BA lady asked if I were pregnant when we checked in and all the mumsnetters I saw at last meet up did not tthink I was huge!! I haven't put on anything other than my big bump and inflated boobs though so thats a relief so far!!

Sam if you still have the UTI try to drink as much as you can - cranberry juice or flat lemonade are supposed to work well.

Tonic water is still keeping the reflux under control to an extent and other than clicky hips and being sooooo bloody hot all is ok inthe Twinkie Pregnancy so far.

Also a grumpy moo. And when I am not grumpy, I am weepy. Twinkie, have also had the 'smoke' rage. I can't stand the smell of it. The other thing is crossing the road, I stick out my bump and look incredulously at drivers at pedestrian crossings. HOw dare they not stop for a pregnant lady!!! Most do look a bit told off, but when they don't - grrrr. Poor DH doesn't know what to do with me. Between my obsessive cleaning and grumping around, I am starting to wonder how he is going to last the next 7 weeks!

Twinkie, how is your heartburn? Mine is a abit better now the baby has started to engage. But gaviscon advanced and remegel is still not really working. Bicarb in water is the only thing that takes the edge off it.

eidsvold · 09/10/2004 11:40

might give you a giggle - lucky feeling much cheerier today or dh would be in big strife... suggested we get out dd's new wadding pool for her to swim in and said I would feel like a wallow....

dh's reply - better be careful or we'll have to call greenpeace to come and get you out of the pool... might take the rainbow warrior a while to come and help!!

Charming - nothing like making a woman feel wonderful when she feels like a fat moo!!!

bunny2 · 10/10/2004 10:47

Lol eidsvold - men can be so funny cant they . My dh keeps commenting on my hugeness too.

My indigestion has lessened considerably over the last few days so I am happy about that. Today we are off for a tour of the maternity ward which I am looking forward to. Despite this, I am still a bit grumpy and seem to have a sense of humour failure even where ds is concerned - poor little mite cant understand why I keep telling him off for things I would normally laugh at . Still, the end is nigh hopefully.

eidsvold · 10/10/2004 11:51

oh we have our hospital tour on Tuesday afternoon.. can't wait - I was a visitor in this hospital ages ago before it was all renovated/updated etc.. only prob - dh has a meeting he can't get out of - so picture woman in labour, moaning etc guiding dh to labour suite ( that will be us!!)

glad to hear your indigestion is improving.. I too am grumpy with dd -poor thing - think she is starting to get vibes and feeling a little unsettled - despite being exhausted.... would not go to bed tonight - friends dropped round baby furniture.... maybe she senses life will be different soon

collision · 10/10/2004 19:26

We went for a tour on Thurs and it was great. It is brand new and has all the latest stuff except for pain relief of any description! How odd. There is a room with a double bed and a huge bath in case DH wants to stay as well which would be great. They gave me a list of things to take which inc sheets for babys bed and cutlery and a cup for me!! How odd again!! Cant wait for it all to be over TBH.

bunny2 · 10/10/2004 19:29

wow, a double bed - how fab! My tour was a bit depressing really - the hospital is old and shabby. It apparently has excellent facilities and care but it just looked so dated. Hope I dont have to stay in there for long.

eidsvold · 11/10/2004 06:11

wow - nearly thought I was off last night ( sun) had a backache most of the day and then last night kept getting pains - at times Icould hardly walk.... got on the ball and bounced and rolled and then staggered off to bed. Baby moving a lot but found it very hard to roll over from side to side - well pains went away and I am still here - thank goodness..... still have 3 and a half weeks to due date... scan tomorrow and another consultant appt oh plus hospital tour and last antenatal class......

However - dh has put his order in - he is busy with imp appt tomorrow at the time of the hospital tour but the rest of the week is free - he told me if I could organise the baby to come this week it would be most convenient..... like I want to keep getting bigger and hotter and crankier and keep this baby in for another 5 weeks... men - can't live with, can't shoot them

eidsvold · 11/10/2004 09:33

here is a link predicting your labour - for a laugh...

here

this is what it said for me....

The day you deliver, outside will be cloudy. Your baby will arrive in the morning.

After a labor lasting approximately 2 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 5 ounces, and will be 18 inches long. This child will have hazel eyes and dark hair.

hope it is cloudy - rain might bring the temp down a bit....

Twinkie · 11/10/2004 10:08

Madame Zaritska's reading (She must be having a laugh - I am having a boy and it is smaller than my dates not 11lb FFS!! and 23 hours this is my second the midwife has promised me it won;t be as long as the first!!)

Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labor and birth experience.

What she senses for you
The day you deliver, outside will be slightly overcast. Your baby will arrive at night.

After a labor lasting approximately 23 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 11 pounds, 15 ounces, and will be 18 inches long. This child will have light brown eyes and some blond hair.

But there is more. I sense that you wonder if you will have a difficult time during labor and birth. Why don't you go listen to an actual birth? It may give you some encouragement!

OP posts:
eidsvold · 11/10/2004 11:11

oh yeh - my bottom bit said I was still unsure about this process and needed to read some birth stories - have been reading VBAC stories til I can no longer see the pc screen.... I did say it was for a laugh - don't make me feel bad - I like the idea of a 2hr labour!!!!

gingernut · 11/10/2004 12:26

LOL eidsvold! Here is mine:

The day you deliver, outside will be foggy. Your baby will arrive in the early evening.

After a labor lasting approximately 10 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and will be 20 inches long. This child will have light blue eyes and some very fine hair.

But there is more. I sense that you feel somewhat alone. Have faith; you are not alone. Why don't you visit the message boards and talk to other expectant mothers. I'm sure you will find you have much in common.

Well, scan showed a boy! But I hope she's right about the length of the labour....10 hours would be nice compared with last time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose dh is making disparaging comments about her size. I said to dh that my bump was starting to look improbably large compared with my normal-size bum, hips and legs and he said `Actually, I don't think they are your normal size bum, hips and legs' . Tempted to file for divorce, grrrrrr! Have been grumpy with ds as well (even though he hasn't said anything nasty about my hugeness). He is being very difficult ATM though and I suspect he is reacting to what he knows is going to happen.

Mum2Ela · 11/10/2004 14:48

Well, had a scan this morning which showed baby is still breech so, if he didn't move, they wanted to section me at 39 weeks. I asked if they could try to turn him and they looked shocked that I had asked (why?!), so waited another hour and a half to see my consultant who never materialised. Managed to see a doc though who will make me an appointment with the only person who carries out the procedure in the hospital, for 2 weeks time (38 weeks). Hope I don't go into labour in the meantime.

Ho hum! My reading . .

The day you deliver, outside will be foggy. Your baby will arrive in wee hours of the morning .

After a labor lasting approximately 18 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and will be 17 inches long. This child will have green eyes and be completely bald.

Blimy! My first labour was only teo and a half hours, and I hope its not a girl now, we have a chest of drawers full of boys clothes!!

Twinkie, ditto bout the ice! Cannot stop munching it! The crushed ice button on my fridge has had a pounding this pregnancy!!

Phoebe25 · 11/10/2004 15:36

Hello!

Im new to this site today. Wish id discovered it alot sooner!
Im a single mum to be,due 6th Nov.(But hoping it's sooner, i want my body back!)

Could someone please give me a run down on these abbreviations?
Like DD & EXP?

Also, where have you got these birth prediction readings from?

Ta

collision · 11/10/2004 16:37

Hi Phoebe! Welcome to Mumsnet! Your life will now be taken over by this website and you wont do anymore cleaning for ages!!

DD is darling daughter
EXP is ex-partner
DH is darling husband etc etc

The readings were something Eidsvold found. If you scroll down to her post at 9.33am you will see a blue link. Click on and that is the link you need. It is only a laugh though.

Where are you from? Excited about the baby? Sorted out names? Tell us all.

I have a ds 2.5yrs and am married and live in Italy. My baby is due on 20 November. Speak later.

bunny2 · 11/10/2004 18:54

Hi Phoebe, welcome . I'm expecting #2 on 22 November - my ds is 4 so it was a long time ago I last went through all this. I am desperate for my body back too - really fed up with shapeless clothes and today I tore my only maternity jeans, beyond repair I think.

I have been cleaning my oven and floors (almost unheard of, Im a domestic slut) with relish today - according to my Miriam Stoppard book an urge to clean can only mean one thing - the baby's on its way.

vivie · 11/10/2004 19:44

bunny2 - I'm such a slovenly housewife that I'm going to blow what's left of our savings on having a cleaning company come in and blitz the house! I can't even get the ironing under control...

Welcome to you Phoebe! I'm expecting my 2nd baby (a boy) on 11 Nov. My ds is 23 months old. Do you have any other children?

I'm getting quite nervous about the birth now, and even more nervous about coping with a baby and a toddler. I'm going to check out eidsvold's link - maybe it will give me some reassurance???!

vivie · 11/10/2004 19:46

16 hours??? A girl??? Nooooooo!!!

gingernut · 11/10/2004 20:11

Hi Phoebe. I am expecting ds no. 2 at the end of Nov. I asked ds1 (who's nearly 3) today what he thought we should call his new brother, to which he replied `Baby Phoebe'!! This is because one of his little buddies has recently had a little sister called Phoebe!

eidsvold · 11/10/2004 21:34

hi Phoebe - I am due around the same time as you.. already have a 2 yo daughter - no idea the gender of this babe - might find out at scan today.

eidsvold · 11/10/2004 22:31

oh I am in australia - moved back here about 4 months ago. Can't wait to get into some cooler, lighter clothing.... bought lots of maternity clothes whilst still working inthe UK - heavier wintery/autumn clothes - so hot here - havebeen given some hand me downs - nice cool shirts... dh ( and me too I guess) figure not much use buying anything more maternity at this stage.....

Mum2Ela · 12/10/2004 08:48

Hi Phoebe - welcome!! Like others have said, your life will now revolve around mumsnet!!

Do tell us all - have you had a good pregnancy? Whereabouts do you live? Other mumsnetters often arrange meet-ups all around the country (not me - am scared of confusing real and virtual life!!)

x

eidsvold · 12/10/2004 12:53

well had the scan - baby doing well - at this stage looking like 3.3kg at this stage with another 200grams a week until birth apparently. Got a nice pic of the baby's face... BUT no idea of gender - foot in groin covering all..... finally met my named consultant - lovely man - very happy for me to try for a VBAC and will see me in 3 weeks....

Flossam · 12/10/2004 13:39

Hello everyone. Back online today as our computers been away being fixed. Welcome Phoebe! Bunny, sorry to hear you have had more bleeding, glad things have settled again.
Eidsvold, at least your proper consultant seems a little more helpful.

I'm ok, looking forward to finsishing work a week friday, still on my feet all day, and my ankles are really starting to swell beyond recognition. Six more twelve hour shifts to go though, 3 of which are nights, quite depressing still! We are hopefully moving into the new flat we've got the day after I finish so trying to get things organised for that too. Looking at the moment like we will be loosing our deposit here as no-one is lined up to move in as yet.

I had decided I was going to spend it (as so far I've done most of the work to get this place sorted) on a pedicure and have a hair cut and some proper highlights put in before baby. At least then one part of me should look half decent. I've put on so much weight.

Have had one scare, when DP was away, typical! Woke up with tummy pain, constant and all over my bump. Phoned mum and NHS Direct (!) and got upset because they got a nurse for me straight away, I know normally they phone you straight back! Anyway, phoned midwife and was told to go in and get checked out. Had to wait 3 hours for a taxi. None available, complete nightmare. Felt very very sorry for myself. Everything seemed fine, just very dehydrated.

Dipped my urine the next morning and it was positive to everythhing! So I thin it was a urine infection. Just didn;t notice the frequency thing as I'm going about 10mls every couple of hours anyway! My pelvic floor is shot to pieces! So thats me! Just looking forward to no more work. Oh and my 'official' due date is 23rd Nov. Glad to see the thread is a bit more lively again! Not long to go (6 weeks today for me!)

Phoebe25 · 12/10/2004 15:11

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Re sex of the baby, im afraid i gave in & found out at my 20 week scan! I was so bored looking at beige/white clothes....
I'm expecting a little girl, hoorah!
The first thing i did was run (well, shuffle) down to my local NEXT & raid the pink section...Bliss!

I decided to find out because i was on my own (through choice) & needed to mentally prepare myself. I'd heard all sorts of horror stories of boys going off the rails without a steady father figure in their lives etc. Im sure that's rarely the case, but im pleased as punch it's a girl as im so close to my own mum.

Im sorry to hear about the troubles you ladies have had, can't imagine what you must go through when not everything goes as smoothly as it should.
I've been extremely lucky to have breezed through so far, apart from the nightly stomach acid invasion which has me running for the industrial sized bottle of gaviscon! Oh yeah, and the sleepless nights, leg cramps & 'not so' trapped wind but that's enough information for now!!

Look forward to hearing from all of you.

P.s Im in the West Yorkshire region.

bunny2 · 12/10/2004 20:06

My indigestion is back with vengance - it kept me awake all bloody night .

Flossam, good to hear from you - Kiss goodbye to your pelvic floor (not literally ), it'll never be the same again.

eidsvold, goos to hear your consultant is +++ about a VBAC.
