Good to hear all well with wee Ellen, Natty. Try posting in the legal section, I thought paternity leave could be taken at a mutually agreed time anywhere in the first 12 wks of arrival - not entirely sure of my facts though. Not convinced that's a correct decision on their part - escorting you to hospital esp when you have a wee one and you might have had to have stayed would surely come under compassionate leave or some other such thing. Like I say no expert but might be worth checking into.

foxybrown · 18/05/2007 14:37

Natty, I don't think they can do that. What if the baby is late? He'll have NO paternity leave to take afterwards.

sputnik · 18/05/2007 14:37

Good news Natty .
Re yoga trousers, I think they're quite generous, I'm still in my regular size 12s and have put on tonnes of weight. If you haven't put on too much weight other than bump you'll be fine in a 10.

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 14:37

yes but baby not due till 28th. so if i go over due he may well be back at work before had baby, and have to cope after pos emergancy c-section on my own. not what i wanted at all

foxybrown · 18/05/2007 14:38

x-posts with Twiga. Yes, she's given you good advice. Post on the legal section.

Its wrong, I'm sure.

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 14:39

grr i hate his work. but i suppose i can make him paint the house now lmao he has no excuse! will just have to rely on friends i suppose. and mum might help if im lucky

annobal · 18/05/2007 14:40

Glad you guys are more switched on than me. Good luck Natty

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 14:41

yeah it is wrong, they arnt allowed to force him, but they have just laid on the guilt as they are really busy around early june cos of the "pirates of the caribian" film coming out. so they need him in around then. sneeky buggers! DH feels he cant say no

muchostinky · 18/05/2007 14:42

Hi Natty

I know that you don't know me from Adam, but it's great to know that the baby will be fine.

It's scary how wrong they can be sometimes and make you worry so much for nothing. I think that they forget that they are actually talking to a real person at times...

Any it's great that she is going to be a big bouncing girl!

hollyandalice · 18/05/2007 14:43

Tell him to tell them to fuck off!! You and the baby are more important than the stupid Pirates of the Caribbean! If he won't march down there yourself and explain the situation!

foxybrown · 18/05/2007 14:44

So what alternatives are they offering?

I think they might be breaking the law. Its not for them to decide he has to take it now. Its up to you, but I'd be telling them to farking well stick it up their farking bums

Great news about the baby! Am delighted for you.

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 14:44

right so any tips on forcing this little one out b4 the 4th?
i wonder if bouncing on a birthing/fitness ball would help? might have to go buy one.. doc said to have lots of rumpy pumpy, think DH may have had a sneeky word with her to make her say that

foxybrown · 18/05/2007 14:44

Or we'll go for you ...

foxybrown · 18/05/2007 14:45

Mango juice. It was recommended to me when DD was late. I had mango juice and a hot Nandos. She came that night. Oh, I'd had a sweep two days before as well.

annobal · 18/05/2007 14:46

Good point Holly!

I think I've been spending too much time on the internet - G has just done a wee on the carpet and it's definitely time to pick T up from nursery

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 14:46

they not "forcing" him as such, just making it hard to say no, and DH is a pushover (hence y he works 50+ hours and gets paid for 39)
oh well my gentle giant has to have sum flaws

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 14:47

lol foxy guess im going out for dinner tonight

hollyandalice · 18/05/2007 14:49

Natural labour induction!

Twiga · 18/05/2007 14:50

right, have looked some stuff up, hope some of these links may be of some use.

gov form

summary of diff leave types

advice from askbaby

clearly states in this that paternity leave can't be taken before birth of baby!

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 14:54

yes but like i said he is doing it as a "favour" to them. he is going for a promotion in a few months... so all in all they are bending the law in order to fit it in around them, but if DH refuses they will make life very difficult for him.

Twiga · 18/05/2007 14:54

Sorry Natty but I'm on your behalf - my work were awful about the whole maternity rights, health and safety last time round and I spent a lot of time arguing the toss with them and signed off as a result on the grounds my working environment wasn't safe - hate it when employers think they can push folk around over this sort of thing.

Twiga · 18/05/2007 14:55

Swine!

Twiga · 18/05/2007 14:58

not your dh - his employers .....

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 15:01

PMSL - yes but DH is a little tiny but swiney.. for not telling them to shove it! understand y he didnt cos we NEED that promotion lol. ah well i will cope, hell if i can move and give birth in the space of a week, whats 2 children and a c-section to deal with!
ive got loads of fabby friends that i have told i expect to see their washing up and hoovering skills over the 1st few weeks! lol

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/05/2007 15:01

little tiny BIT swiny.. hes not little and tiny and swiny... lol
