@Dinosauratemydaffodils - I hope you're ok today and you didn't go into labour at your Dad's funeral!

@lazymclazyface - I can't really empathise, I don't move in my sleep. I wake up in the same position hot and achy.

We had a lovely babymoon - massages, lie ins, pretty scenery etc. Definitely worth it
to have some 1-2-1 time with DH.

Drive home was horrid though - traffic and my feet blew up. So if you're planning one I'd say not too far from home! 300+ miles was too much really.

Hi everyone.

We’ve picked our final name list, down to 3, didn’t want to pick a definite until we see her.

I have borderline result for my glucose test so I’ve been told to follow the GD diet. I’m not happy. Nor do I actually feel good doing it, I’ve been getting dizzy spells, pretty sure that’s not suppose to happen Hmm. My doctors advise was to avoid carbs and sweets. Not sure that it’s the best advice so I’ve been trying to follow plans I’ve read up on.

Got my 30 week scan next week, can’t wait to see the baby.

ClareB83 · 28/03/2018 14:40

Hmm dizzy spells don't sound good @Shutupanddance1. Do they go away if you have a lie down?

Had my 30 week scan today. Both boys are doing well. Some small measurements, some big ones, but consultant was happy.

We won't get a date for the c section until we see her again on 18th April though. I really want to know!!

They now weigh 3lb2 and 3lb9. Their faces are starting to look like proper babies.

@shutupanddance that sounds like your blood sugar could be too low following that diet, be worth a call to them!

Very jealous of those of you who get 30 week scans. I wish we did! Trying to decide whether to get a private one done

@clareb83 glad you had a lovely time away, shame about the journey though!

Cookie1831 · 28/03/2018 17:19

I wouldn’t go no carb that is ridiculous reducing carbs slightly yes but not cutting completely bless you no wonder you feel rough!
I have just had a little bleed only when wiping but it was fresh red vaginal blood ( I was straining to try and poo at the time though) so am sure it is fine and just my sensitive cervix but going to sit with my feet up for a bit x

ClareB83 · 28/03/2018 17:34

Oh @Cookie1831 I hate the bleeding! Had so much in the first trimester, still totally freaks me out. Definitely rest and if you feel freaked out call the assessment unit.

Thanks ladies - today I’ve balanced things out a bit more and I feel much much better.

@northernbeachbum I’m sorry you aren’t getting a 30 week scan - do they give a scan again before baby is born?

Northernbeachbum · 28/03/2018 18:25

@cookie1831 hope you're feeling ok!!

@shutupanddance nope the 20 weeks one was our last early. Seems such a long wait from that to meeting him!!!

Shutupanddance1 · 28/03/2018 19:53

@Northernbeachbum that seems like a very long time to wait - do people usually go for private scans in the meantime? Confused Surely they’d need to do a growth scan or something?

I’m not in the UK so I’m not familiar with it.

Northernbeachbum · 28/03/2018 20:47

For growth they measure the bump with a tape measure over here shutupanddance believe it or not! Seems very old fashioned! If they think the baby is growing at the wrong speed then you might get a scan I think.

Many people don't bother but some get a private scan. They're not cheap but more and more people are doing it so more places are appearing it seems

Cookie1831 · 29/03/2018 14:29

All grand thankfully although am a bit worried about the next time I try and poo! I haven’t seen a midwife since 16 weeks which seems so very long have appt next week though when will be 28 x

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/03/2018 15:11

@Cookie1831 Any chance it's piles? With ds I had what sounds similar, panicked at the sight of fresh blood and then discovered it wasn't vaginal bleeding.

@ClareB83 It all went as well as it could in the circumstances, thanks. Turns out baby likes organ music (just like their big brother) but they stayed put.

I've got another anesthetist appointment next week so someone more senior can try and talk me out of a general anesthetic but feels like I haven't seen a midwife in forever. Plus between ds and this pregnancy they've moved to online notes... went to see if the growth scan I had last week was showing only to discover apparently I haven't seen a midwife this entire pregnancy.

ClareB83 · 29/03/2018 16:48

Sorry @Dinosauratemydaffodils I must have missed it in an earlier post. Are you having an elcs with a general? Why is that? (Just curious.)

OP posts:
Cookie1831 · 29/03/2018 16:56

dinosaur was definitely vaginal I checked with some tissue but I have piles too the joy!! 😂

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/03/2018 17:42

@ClareB83 Yes. I hallucinated through a category 1 emcs after a very long labour with ds and 3 years on I still have nightmares. I had a bunch of mental health issues afterwards relating to the hallucinations which were based on a previous traumatic event and I'm terrified that my mind will wander off there again if I'm awake.

I wouldn't say they are hugely enthusiastic and keep producing more and more senior consultants but they have agreed grudgingly.

ClareB83 · 29/03/2018 17:51

Crikey @Dinosauratemydaffodils that seems like a pretty cast iron reason for a general! I don't think there's anyone senior enough who'd have even the slightest chance of talking me out of that one!

Frankly if I was them I'd be worried about getting sued if they convinced you to do anything else and then you had another bad experience. They should move on!

OP posts:
Northernbeachbum · 29/03/2018 20:24

@dinasauratemydaffodils blimey I don't think they can say that's not a good enough reason!!!

SparklesandBubbles · 31/03/2018 20:28

@Dinosauratemydaffodils hope your Dad's funeral went as well as these things can. Good job the baby stayed put. Also sounds like your previous experience was quite traumatic - glad they've agreed to what you want.

@Cookie1831 hope all's ok with the bleeding. Sounds like resting up a bit more is a good idea.

Cookie1831 · 01/04/2018 21:44

Yes thanks sparkles it totally settled must eat more fibre!!!
Am feeling so massive already but so excited that it’s april!!! Makes June sound so much nearer and mat leave is next month wooooooo!!!!

Northernbeachbum · 02/04/2018 09:10

@cookie1831 glad your bleeding resolved itself!

It's coming around so fast isn't it, the wriggling in my bump feels really low into my pelvis now it's very strange!

How's everyone's weekends been?

Cookie1831 · 02/04/2018 09:14

Boring!!! Am so fed up of the rain x

Elpheba · 02/04/2018 09:45

Ditto bored. Been fun weekend until today but fourth day in a row of rain and this morning it is utterly relentless. I'd be quite happy with a day in front of the tv and all my Easter eggs but 2 year old less happy with that plan! Vegetating for now though and will just have a CBeebies morning and hope the weather breaks later for some fresh air. Not sure how much more tea cup travels on CBeebies I can take though!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 02/04/2018 11:18

Me and ds are having a lazy day eating easter eggs and watching Masha and the Bear. I've managed to pick up a cold from somewhere so my throat feels like I've swallowed razor blades.

Baby has moved up and seems to be hugging my lungs at the moment, really don't remember being this uncomfortable with ds.

@SparklesandBubbles Thanks, it did.

@Cookie1831 Glad the bleeding stopped. On the one hand I want to be June because being pregnant is stressful but on the other...

Fairly random question but it seems as a good a place to ask as any other. For the last few years we've gone on holiday with my PiL, SiL and her two kids. FiL wants to book for 7 weeks after my due date, what would you do? (It's only to Wales this year as a compromise but that's still a long drive with a very small baby).

ClareB83 · 02/04/2018 12:37

I've been quite firm that I'm not committing to anything - holidays, visits, Christmas plans etc until after the babies are here and I know how we're coping.

Can you delay deciding either way until nearer the time? It is only the UK. Even if they rent a smaller house without you, you could travelodge/premier inn nearby and join them during the day.

My weekend has been good - sorting out house and nursery. DH has done loads of sorting in the garage and DIY. My mum came up for the day and I have vegged a lot too.

I am though feeling quite massive (31+3 today) and back aches a fair bit. Tired as and moving about is getting harder and harder.

Fed up of the crappy weather here too although apparently it’s going to be 18 degrees on Saturday!

Husband is working today and ds out with gps so I’ve been for a swim and got some lunch which was nice.

Dinosaur, I would just say that you’ll have to see closer to the time if possible. It’s so hard to predict how you’ll be feeling, what the baby will be like etc. We are going on a U.K. beach holiday at the end of August so the baby should be coming up to 3 months but I literally had nightmares after we booked it. I’m sure it’ll be fine but if it’s not we just won’t go or we’ll come home early.
