@Watchingmasterchef if your ward is as hot as this one flip flops will be fine. You won't want slippers! I've not worn my dressing gown at all either and it's really thin!

@Northernbeachbum you are supposed to keep the delightful socks on all the time you are sedentary. (Pretty much when on the ward). I took mine off when I knew I was walking outside for a bit.

I've just been given the first pessary and then as long as baby is fine after monitoring for an hour I'm going to be allowed home for 24hrs. Yey! Smile

Northernbeachbum · 29/05/2018 12:45

Thanks @Clareb83 and @sparklesandbubbles. They aim to have us up 5 hours after the c section here and home the next day so looks like a very short lived sock experience for me (Haha wearing socks when it's warm)

Oooh great that you get to go home @sparklesandbubbles. Although hopefully it has an impact soon

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/05/2018 14:07

@Watchingmasterchef I was told the reason for a dressing gown was to get you to theatre as you'll just be in a hospital gown otherwise. Shirt might work if it's long enough though. Although it's possibly dependent on layout, our postnatal wards where they stick you to wait are miles from the the labour ward/theatres.

@Northernbeachbum Antibiotics were useless. Chest infection is still winning. I took my socks off with ds on day 2 I think with ds but he was in NICU and I was very mobile. They were fine with that.

@SparklesandBubbles Fingers crossed you get home for a bit.

ClareB83 · 29/05/2018 14:55

I got wheeled to theatre but it was an emcs and I was already catheterised and on a drip for the PE, so that may be the reason.

I know everyone always says that growth scans are inaccurate.. I just had scan , 37 weeks tomorrow and baby estimated at 8lbs 11 . Any idea much do they grow each week? C section scheduled for 39+5 ( which seems late) . Does anyone know if big babies tend to come early ? Thanks !

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 15:54

@SparklesandBubbles that's great! I had my first pessary about half an hour after you, I have to stay in though. I'm lucky, I have a bed by the window and a lovely view!
@Watchingmasterchef I definitely wouldn't be wearing a dressing gown, another woman on the ward is though.

ElizabethLemon · 29/05/2018 18:43

@Watchingmasterchef I think they say babies put on about half a pound a week in the last month. But that could be BS! My baby was estimated to be 8lb 15oz today at 39+1, he’s coming out on Thursday and I’m really interested in how close they’ve got it. They estimated my last one to be over 2lb heavier than he was so I’m a little dubious.

We were at the hospital for over 4 hours today. I had a scan at 12 then was meant to have my pre assessment for the c section at 1.30. There was no record of that appointment so we were waiting for almost 2 hours. I was slowly losing my mind and didn’t have anything proper to eat for hours, I’m surprised I didn’t pass out when they finally did my bloods!

Anyway, no appointments or anything tomorrow. We’re having a relaxing day at home, our last one as a family of 3 😊.

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 20:27

@ElizabethLemon that's really bad that they didn't have your appointment! Bless you, at least you can have a rest tomorrow. You will have to let us know about the weight!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/05/2018 20:28

Does anyone know if big babies tend to come early ?

All the really big babies I know were born past 40 weeks. No idea how representative that is though.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/05/2018 20:47

@ElizabethLemon What happened at your pre-op, I have mine on Friday and am getting slightly terrified.

Northernbeachbum · 29/05/2018 20:49

Me too @dinosaurs, my pre op is Friday too and I'm getting so so nervous about it all

ElizabethLemon · 29/05/2018 21:11

@Dinosauratemydaffodils @Northernbeachbum It was really straight forward. They did some bloods and measured me for TED stockings. I had the swabs taken last week, that was just swabbing my own mouth, nostrils and groin! They also gave me the tablets I need to take the night before and in the morning before I go in.

Then she went through a bit of what would happen on the day, told me when to stop eating/drinking etc. and to remove the hair around my bikini line and that was pretty much it!

@WreckItRach How are you getting on?

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 21:47

@ElizabethLemon I've been having back ache but that's all, hopefully things will progress in the night after a few hours sleep 🤞 thanks for asking 😊

jadeward89 · 29/05/2018 22:51

Hi all. Still no baby 😢
Looks as though I’m not agreeing with Induction. Really hoped baby would be here by now.
Tomorrow might mean making the decision to go ahead with a csection within the next few days. Though I have been contracting slightly I’ve not been dilating at all so they can’t even attempt to break my waters. I’m so tired now because I’m not sleeping properly I just want baby here 😕
Hope everyone who’s been induced is progresssing well. Good luck to all with sections booked in.

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 23:35

Ahh @jadeward89 I'm so sorry! Have they tried the drip too? You must be exhausted and fed up, bless you. I hope they get something sorted tomorrow for you x

jadeward89 · 30/05/2018 00:31

@WreckitRach because they can’t even break my waters they can’t do the drip. My cervix is still high, thick and long 😕 it’s been the same since they started me off on Sunday. I’m tired because my hips are aching and it’s not my bed (my mattress is so comfy I’m missing it).
Think my mum is more disappointed about the section than I am, I knew it might happen, hoped it wouldn’t obviously but I knew the risks.
Will know more tomorrow now am hoping that they might sterilise me whilst in there (two birds with one stone and all that) 😊

WreckItRach · 30/05/2018 05:37

@jadeward89 ohhh, sorry. That's such a shame about your cervix, after being there for this long too. I'm glad you feel ok with the section though, how exciting that you could see your gorgeous bundle of joy tomorrow!!

Northernbeachbum · 30/05/2018 10:45

Being sent to to hospital from midwives as I've got high BP and protein in my urine......not ideal! Feel absolutely fine though

SylvesterTheCat · 30/05/2018 11:35

@Northernbeachbum good you're feeling normal. Might just be a precautionary visit. Hope all goes well.

ClareB83 · 30/05/2018 11:48

That sounds familiar @Northernbeachbum! Hope you're ok.

SparklesandBubbles · 30/05/2018 11:58

Hi all, just to let you know the pessary did it's job with me and I gave birth to a little boy at 5:58 this morning. It all happened very very quickly - I'd say active labour must have been less than an hour and I didn't even make it to the birth centre or a labour room. Gave birth on the bed in the pre-natal ward (with a number of other mums contracting around me!!). Think I'm talk of the labour ward today as it doesn't happen very often!!

We are both doing well and baby was a chunky 8lb6oz.

jadeward89 · 30/05/2018 12:18

Congratulations @SparklesandBubbles! Lovely news 😊
I still have no baby 😕 I’ve now been booked in for a c section for Next Wednesday! I’m gutted I was hoping the baby would be here by now but clearly has other plans. So I’m getting ready to head home so I can see the kids 😊 hope everyone is doing ok xx

HoneyBee03 · 30/05/2018 12:21

Congrats @SparklesandBubbles!!! How wonderful :) Such drama! It's great that after all that you didn't have to wait long to finally meet your little boy. Pleased to hear you're doing well.

I've been trying to catch up on the thread and there is so much going on. Any more June babies fancy being May babies?

@Northernbeachbum I hope it goes okay at the hospital today.

ElizabethLemon · 30/05/2018 13:09

@SparklesandBubbles congratulations and well done!

@Northernbeachbum hope you’re ok and not worrying too much x

@jadeward89 that is disappointing, hopefully baby gets a move on and makes an appearance before Wednesday. At least you get a few more days with your big ones.

Lali1 · 30/05/2018 14:28

Congrats @Sparksandbubbles! Waw so quick development, all the best to you and the boy! 🎂
